Is Petronas considered as statutory body?

There is no DTA, but in the country he is being sent to (Timur Leste), they do not charge tax. So that is why I'm asking whether there is a way to not pay tax, legally during his term of employment there? I am thinking of asking the subsidiary of the country to pay his salary, but it seems that he is still liable to pay tax. Any other way ?

Didn't read in further depth yr case but generally, foreign derived income is not taxable in Malaysia. Furthermore you need to establish tax residency of the individual vide the rules. If he is not tax resident in Malaysia salaried income earned in Timor Leste is tax free.

There is an old english proverb which goes like this...

" You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink"

Applied to ACCA this means reliance on yr own hardwork and improving yr ability is much more important than a lecturer. He/she is only there to guide u and help u understand but is not sitting for yr exam. Reading so many comments posted on the relative abilities of lecturers gives me the impression you students hv got the wrong focus. Lecturers are providing a service and if you study P5, you should know that the natural features of a service as compared to a physical product is its uniqueness, subjectivity and difficulty in measurement.

Over-reliance on a lecturer is not good. So if you fail, you blame the lecturer. Is thsi right ah? Internal strength and ability is the way to go.

I guess it will be suitable thread for me to post something here regarding a student from University of Nottingham,Malaysia.I met a friend of mine and he is a student from Nottingham, and he just graduated from the uni as an E&E first class honours student. Can you imagine what did he critize on?He said that ACCA papers are so easy which everyone should score on the paper and should not fail it.I would like mentioned,ACCA is a professional paper and qualification.Just wondering that does he qualify as an first class honours from Nottingham University?

Your friend is, with due respect, still immature despite having 1st class hons. I am a UK grad who became a member of the ICAEW and lecture ACCA part time and I can tell you, it is not easy. Becoming an professional accountant is much more difficult now because the scope is so much broader now and issues complex. I have also noticed that some university graduates suffer when they take the P levels subjects as their university did not give them as good a foundation as the fundamentals level in sitting for the P papers. A mature person should hv more humility, seems yr friend has some growing up to do.

May I know how LLB degree can add value to ACCA? Considering doing LLB after ACCA.
*
The most successful professionals are those who are able to speak and write in legal jargon. This means producing information which is so complex that people don't bother to read it. LLB is a definite asset to ACCA in that context.

Do you think getting a MBA in Corporate Governance a good qualification for an Auditor?
*
If you suscribe to the view that corporate governance has failed to be effective worldwide and Malaysia does not have to culture to support the implementation of corporate governance, why are you wasting time and money getting an MBA in corporate governance. Such a qualification would serve your needs more if you were a pastor!
