I have no opinion on this sitting's audit paper.
So, i shall just relate what came out in this sitting's paper from memory...if it serves me well...lol.

Q1:
Components of audit strategy and examples of application in scenario.
Substantive analytical procedures on sales income on daily and yearly basis.
Ticket sales dealing with cash and credit card receipts.
Audit procedures on credit card sales balance.

Q2:
4 examples and explanations of Audit Sampling methods.
4 audit assertions to obtain audit evidence on classes of transactions and balances.
Explanation of the term 'modification' in context of audit report.

Q3:
Benefits of using audit software.
Problems faced during course of audit (scenario)
Considerations when evaluating computer sys documentation prepared by internal auditor.

Q4:
Contrast the responsibilities of internal and external auditors.
Benefits to the company of an audit committee (scenario)

Q5:
How to respond to a situation of misstatement in a client's accounts.
Whom to report the situation of 'ficticious' inventory.
Safeguards auditors can implement when facing intimidation threat by client.

Correct me if i'm wrong!!! icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi everyone.

Have a question to post for my colleague.

She has passed papers F1-F9 n is now taking exams for P1-finish...
However, she did not apply to opt for the OBU degree n now is stuck in the middle with no degree nor ACCA.

Do u guys know of any other colleges/unis that offer the option of obtaining an exemption to getting a degree?

She has tried appealing to ACCA Malaysia n UK but to no avail.

Thx in advance for all forms of advice.

If I'm not mistake, last time during I attend Choong Kwai Fatt 3.2 in SEGI, got people come to ask us for study Degree course. He said since we already passed up to 2.5/2.6 (means F7/F8), we can have option to exempt a lot of papers for the degree course and just spend another 6 to 9 months, then can get Degree.

But for me, that's no point for this option since I already in Part 3 of ACCA. If choose to go Degree, why no go earlier and now is Prof Level of ACCA, convert to Degree is waste.
*
Cos she feels she can't pass her ACCA...so she wants to consider other options.

Without ACCA, she only has form 5...or partial ACCA (part 2).
Hardly sufficient to get a decent job if she wants to leave the current job.

Applicants with degrees have better chances.

who is the best for P1?
*
Subjective to say who is best for P1..

But i think most will agree that the choice is usually made between
1) Philip Woo
2) Parminder

Both found in KSA.

Not only KSA for the best P1.
Even I heard their F4 lecturer is good. Ms Sanjeetha has very very good pass rate. So you can try her class.
They offer 50% discount for F4 and if you take any other F paper, there is 20% discount.
I think F4 with F5 or F6 can really be a good package with good deal. Damn Cun their price!!!
*
Since we're going KSA all out..
Their P3 Parminder's class is a full house!!!!
For part time at least...hahaha.

Every sitting Parmindar P3 and Philip Woo P1 oso coming to full house. They are the demand lecturer in KSA.

I think that is the main reason Vikness choose to left KSA. Imagine most of student choose Philip Woo and even Parmindar oso for P1, where got student still sign up Vikness P1 class in KSA? I still remember two sittings ago when I meet Vikness in KSA, he look like not happy with KSA that time. He told me all student only know Philip Woo famous for P1 and choose him, but never thinking how big size for the class.

Haiyor...
talk bout viknes oni wanna muntah darah..
That fella...
My fren saw him at the mamak stall, told him he was taking P1 with another lecturer...
Viknes terus flare up...n proceeded to bad mouth every P1 teaching lecturer in the market....

His leaving KSA...i oni have to say...good riddance....

Sorry lar...but i detest all the fellow lecturer b****ing...
Can't u at least respect the student's choice.....

Perhaps jz say...'if u need extra help...i oso teach p1'...ma can lo...

That;s y i felt it was a teensy bit unscrupulous....

Dear all,
Wonder if this has been shared in the forum previously.

For those who have completed ACCA, aka ACCA Graduates..
Have u realised that the certs u hv are only the Professional and Fundamental level completion status certs?

Well, there is a Passed ACCA Finalist cert that u are entitled to..
But perhaps ACCA wants to cut down on costs fir this so they implemented a clause to obtaining this cert.

Students..now the graduates, have to fill in a status form b4 the application for this ACCA cert is obtainable.

Had a friend facing problems with her job visa application as the govt in that country wanted the Passed Finalist cert.

Ciaoz.

Lol..from experience, Parmindars classes for P1 n P3 are held consecutively..but i attended RI n RE for both P1 n P3 so i saw him everyday for like 2 weeks in a row...like that?

If u only intend to take RE for both P1 n P3, u won't go nuts...it'll be like, 3 nights of RE (6.30 to 9.30) then maybe 3 days rest, n 3 days of night classes again for the next paper.

I have a night class from 6.30-9.30 pm next Friday and can anyone advice me where to park nearby Kolej Bandar? Is there any place with flat rate parking fee and safe to walk at night? By the way, I am from Cheras and would like to know whether the roads would be really congested, especially the Loke Yew highway. I usually take the LRT to class but taking LRT at night doesn't sound too safe to me. If the jam isn't too bad and there is a cheap parking space, I would definitely drive there I think. Argh, how I hate night classes. Would appreciate if anyone can provide me with relevant information.

P/S: Anyone interested in carpooling as well? I am in Chin Ann's F6 & F8.
*
Er,it's usually advised that u take the LRT if u don't stay too far from the station, or park near the LRT station n take the LRT to town.
1st, it will be rather jammed driving to town for night class...rush hour traffic, unless u drive n reach college b4 5pm.
2nd, parking is costly especially if u want to park in a safe area..if weekend then some parking lots are fixed w per entry charges, much better.
3rd, dangerous to walk back to the car alone if u wanna park in the cheap parking lots at night.

But if u wieghed the options n still wanna drive there...i will advise u to park in Menara Tun H.S Lee (correct ar?), where Kasturi(KSA) is situated...cos there are cameras in the parking lots n more students park there...i only know that this parking lot has fixed charges on weekends, but hourly rates on weekdays.

Have fun!

Hi need some advice here, if my aim is to get out to oversea to get a job and possibly settle down oversea, which is more suitable to add on to the ACCA qualification??
OBU or Certified Internal Auditor(CIA)??
*
Hi there,
IMHO, OBU is more like a safety net for students who can't obtain their ACCA.
Complete a thesis according to the stated regulations and you will obtain a degree.
But bear in mind that the OBU is a lower qualification as compared with the ACCA qualification you have in hand.

CIA-will be an add on for you if your interest lies in internal auditing.
But once again, a CIA will boost your resume if you want to be an internal auditor through and through.
Internal auditing(P1) differs from the normal auditing(F8).

Since you have already obtained the ACCA, my advice is to keep your cash (entry fee for OBU) and use it to get the CIA,
if and ONLY IF:
1) it is a requirement by your employer
2) internal auditing is your passion
3) you want to specialise in the field of internal auditing

Other qualifications to enhance your ACCA that are much sought after by employers:
a) CFA
b) CFP
c) other accounting qualifications like ICAEW, CIMA, CPA, etc.

Good luck and I hope this info helped!

How about PR aspect???
*
Can't see how PR-if u mean Public Relations will require any add-ons as having an ACCA thus makes u rather qualified if in fact the ACCA is relevant to PR.
Perhaps other forumers may have more info on this aspect.

QUOTE(emilydufleng @ Jan 20 2010, 11:00 PM)
hi newbie here. want to get some info for my daugther who wants to take CAT.

want to know the whole fees from CAT to ACCA in sunway college and also tarc. how much difference?

for sunway or tarc can my daughter apply ptptn loan? or any place offers ACCA and CAT too? can i know the price?

my daugther does not have any knowledge in accounting as she nvr take that subject in spm. can she catch up wif the existing students?

hope you all give me complete info.

from a worrying mother
*
Background info:
Tarc does not offer CAT courses as their course is linked to ACCA upon a student's completion of selected papers in the Diploma level with an exemption of 9 ACCA papers, only requiring the completion of Professional Papers {P1-3, P4-7(option of two)}

IMHO...
With regards to the timing, the whole process to obtain an ACCA qualification in TARC is roughly 4 years...
Whereas, using the CAT route, the course may be as short as 2.5 years...

The plus factor for obtaining the qualification in TARC is the Diploma safety net as the student will have their Diploma is unable to complete the ACCA papers.

Money wise, Sunway is a Platinum status tuition provider for ACCA, hence demanding slightly pricier fees, but bear in mind that Sunway offers tests to gage the student's progress (Progress Tests) and are also strict in allowing the students to sit for examinations.

Other colleges with quality education at dropped prices (when compared with SyUC) are Kasturi College, Kolej Bandar.

Students tend to follow the lecturers that are the best for the subject.
It is advised that you refer to the first page of this forum for further info on competent lecturers in the market.
