I'm just asking, a stupid question. I am currently very interested in ACCA and what does it takes to perform well in ACCA?

I have asked around, it's a tough exam. Tough and hard is relative. Some people find it tough and some pass it well. Does hardwork rewards well in ACCA?

What should I be prepared for?

Thanks for the thread. Really nice infos here and there.

Hi, anything where u put ur effort at, u will surely be rewarded. Same goes with ACCA exams.

Read, memorise, understand, read business news, discuss with friends, lecturers, are all steps u can take to increase chances of passing.
Most importantly, strenghten ur english language if u are weak in it. It helps alot in ACCA.

Btw guys, hows P2 today? I heard next sem many part of the syllabus will undergo changes. Goodluck for those attempting P3 tomoro! icon_rolleyes.gif

erm. resit p2. taking next sitting. keith farmer, joe fang or haneef? requirement:patient, approachable, not egoistic. most of the acca lecturer think they are god and refuse to explain further and expect student to understand their own very farking notes!

Lol Menon is it? Ull have to find the right time before approaching her, haha.

But then again, I rely alot on friends for different interpretations, discuss about it, then if cannot agree on an answer, or still uncertain, find her. She will be glad to know u are at least thinking and discussing about an issue.

But yeah, if I were to resit, I will certainly not take under the same lecturer again. Maybe try different approach.

GOodluck!

erm, in Sunway, there are 2 very famous and good for OBU. It was Mr.Goh and Mr.Marcus. Now since Marcus already move to INTI, He is only charging 3k+ I think. Why not try there? Cheaper somemore - -. And he's willing to go to medan foodcourt if its inconvenient for u lol, (especially those in hostel) as far as I heard la.

Ray,

Are you sure or not? I heard Mr. Goh is the best mentor, for he guides you almost every sentence to make sure its up to UK standards. But I didn't hear much about Mr. Marcus. You claimed he is very famous? haha shakehead.gif  I no hear much about him lah on this obu thingee. But if Mr Goh charges 5+k and he is good then worth it. But the 3k+ by Inti, bit suspicious lah.  rclxub.gif why so good wan the prize??  Maybe student shd choose Geetha, she looks nice enuf to help lah.sori, i bit kiasu, scared waste money and cannot complete obu if enroll in future.

Wonder Mr Michael Manwaring can teach P3 Inti, sure get do BUsiness topics in OBU wan. Wonder if he does OBU also.  If expensive, maybe ok can accept since he so 'geng'.

Haha of course he is not as famous now, Marcus left last sem already. Lol, just so u know, Marcus and Goh are both as good, with their own style(according to friends under Goh, and with my exp under Marcus). Well, since I havent been under Mr.Goh before, I wouldnt know, so I cant give a fair comparison. However, if we were to look at statistics, both usually gets fully booked before the others tongue.gif.

And once again, looking at the pricing blinds a normal consumer. I expect an ACCA student to understand the "value", not the fact that a service is priced premium. Sunway is charging too high because they are using their "brand" name, just the same as how branded good use their name to charge a premium. If u can get the EXACT same end product, with a QUALITY input, and in an Economical and effective way, why not? After all, he has tonnes of exp in Sunway already to be able to coach others regardless of location.

And btw, ur OBU cert will not state the college u come from, so no prob, in case u choose to believe the conspiracy of Big4 only recruiting Sunway student. (Btw, I have a friend taking ACCA from various college, got an interview with one of the big 4, whereas those who sent directly through Sunway are yet to be called.)

Lol, OBU is certainly an advantage for those who wants to enter the Big4 earlier. Also, I know a few friends who are struggling in part 3, I advice them to take OBU, and now they are working in med-size firm while completing their last few papers. If hardcore studying doesnt help them, at least working experience may be able to open them to different approach and thinking.

Of course, when the job market is good, OBU might not really add value. But now, employers tend to be extremely picky, and getting an additional 1% advantage is better than nothing.

Furthermore, as ACCA is not recognised in countries like USA, Aust; OBU is certainly handy in these situation. U get a higher chance for secondment, or even applying for jobs there in the future.

Among all the advantages mentioned, I would say that an investment of RM1-3k is certainly worth it. After all, we are paying very little for our ACCA fees already (comparing to degree route, and please, RM4k is a total rip off).

Hoho, passed my ACCA. P5 - 61, P7 - 62. Seems like all my part 3 papers are around that range. Finally I can fully concentrate on my work!

Congrats to others who passed their respective papers, especially those who just became affliliate! Remember, its just the beginning of your life! (or not, if ur in audit).

To those who didnt make it this round, gambateh! ACCA is a marathon, not a race. It's just in a matter of time. All the best!
