We're talking about the earpiece prob. One that is in the phone itself used for calling.

I just got myself a pair of bose in ear headphones. bought it for RM300 and even with the default preset the overall SQ is very good compared to the stock nokia ones which required careful playing with the EQ. Bass is okay, i've only had them for 2 hours. a bit boomier than what I would like but that could be changed with the EQ after i've properly burned in the device.

However it doesn't block out external sounds much but I guess it is rather a safe(though unintended) feature since i think I'll start using it even while I'm driving. tongue.gif Though with better seal I think it'll perform better for it's price.

original smile.gif why?
so.. i should have nothing to worry about?
not so long. maybe abt 30 mins in total today.
it's new, i just bought it last sunday. why?
thanks for the tips smile.gif
*
30 mins total/ means you have connected and disconnected many times?
Searching and establishing a connection will drain the batt even more.

You're welcome! How come it easily scratch? I am also using Skool SP and so far it doesn't scratch for me... maybe your finger nails too sharp?
*
Speaking of scratches, mine has a very deep one about 3 mm long and very deep not even an SP will be able to save it even if I had one on. It just missed the main screen and is under the XpressMusic lettering.

Using a-GPS it is using the telco to get a faster lock and will cost a few cents. Once you get a lock of your position, it is free to use the whole time the GPS is on. It'll cost you if you try and get a lock again.

Hehe, I'm currently using a Bose in ear. Good SQ, yes. Overpriced, yes. laugh.gif
But it offers comfort and still allows me to socialize with people around me. I think when i buy another one next month I'm still gonna keep these as my outdoor earphones. A proper sealing IEM would be for when I'm in my personal moments enjoying my music, closing my eyes and forget the world.

Aeon, welcome!! biggrin.gif

Oh yeah, how much to replace the front casing? One that covers the LCD. I got mine scratched so deep, I don't think having an SP in the first place would do any good. It seriously is deep, you can get your fingernail stuck in there. Luckily it's still outside the main screen.

hmm.gif  how much for the Bose in ear ?  which model are you using ?
*
The triport. RM300.

The bass response is good and the sound is leaps better at flat EQ than the stock Nokias(no surprise though. tongue.gif ).
What it lacks though is that it doesn't quite involve you in the music. I can't feel the musicians like leaping out of the player and play their music around you, get what I mean? Soundstage is alright but not great. For that, I think it is overpriced. But comfort is top notch I'd say for me. Oh yeah, even with minimum volume with lineout, the music still can be heard quite clearly, as in what the singers are saying and most instruments can be heard. Good for outtings with friends while still wanting to hear your music.

Aiya urs special case... then cannot judge based on your purchase.. because I thought only those who paid the full RM1499 can get the free BT headset... was wondering if anyone paid around RM1300 and got the BT headset  hmm.gif
There is no 'best' earphone that suit with the tube but there may be a 'best' earphone that suit you.

As you can see some of us are using Creative EP-630, some using Crossroads Bijou 3, some using Crossroads X3i, some using a Bose (such as tunertoobe  tongue.gif )... I myself I am using a SoundMagic PL-30.

Basically there are so many models out there.. just that you need to find one that suites your taste in music. Because some people like vocals... some people like more bass... some people like more instrumental.. and all those earphones I mentioned above plays the different types of songs... differently  smile.gif
Btw, someone from Dailymobile.se suggested that if only we can extract the Divx codec from Omnia HD, we can play DivX on our tube. because the Omnia HD plays DivX thru the RealPlayer.. and Omnia HD is also using s60v5 so basically it definitely will be compatible with the tube (as can be seen we can play divx thru iSmartmovie so basically its just the codec issue and not a hardware issue)

I found the WMA/WMV codec in our tube's Z drive and I bet if someone installs Y-browser on an OMNIA HD, he can extract the divx codec
*
Hey. laugh.gif

I admit, eventhough the SQ is good I wouldn't recommend it. It is overpriced. The only thing it's good for is bass and comfort. Even bass can be overdone at times and I had to move up treble a bit with the EQ. I'm buying a new one next month but still keep this one though. tongue.gif

Plus I read somewhere that they did a test on the earphones, the impedance is 32 ohm. Kinda big and surely will eat up batt life. But freq response is 6Hz-24kHz. Still not from bose but an independent test done by someone out there.

Final word. Buy it only if you're both looking for comfort and bass. Otherwise look elsewhere, there are better bargains.

Light leakage prob is a manufacturer's defect. Nokia didn't have time to address such a hardware issue with their rush into geting this product as early as possible into the market I guess.

LOL, I might be the only one with ears senseless enough to feel that an Ipod Touch is only slightly more detailed then my 5800... brows.gif

Granted that's with a heck of a lot of EQ tweaking, as the 5800 at flat/default EQ sounds like crap, even to me... And funny that that old thread over at Head-Fi about the 5800 sound quality is still alive somewhat... sweat.gif

But yeah, pair it with a detailed IEM --> it's not going to sound peachy. Your best bet is for fun sounding, less detailed IEMs... biggrin.gif

Which reminds me, I wonder if Line Out in the 5800 bypasses the DAC? Hmm... hmm.gif
*
I think it does bypass the DAC. Most people use lineout if they have an external amp, letting the extyernal amp do all the amping and have the unaltered signal from the player.

I use lineout with my earphone, even at 4 the sound is acceptably audible. Even at minimum you can hear quite a lot of detail.

Any of you replaced the front cover? Mine got scratched so deep an SP wouldn't be able to save it even if I had one on, although it didn't happen on the main screen, just outside of it.

Did you bring the warranty card to replace the LCD screen? I think I'll change mine next week because of the colour changing issues. Yeah it came back, hard.

Bro,

I know it is just released, but any idea if it will drain a lot of battery if we leave it on all the time?
*
It will if you leave it on. It'll be handy as a clock to be put on a desk while you're at work or studying. Just put it on the Nokia stand.

I'm trying it now to se if it'll noticably reduce batt life. Benchmark is 3 days for me. Just fully charged it this morning.
I'm leaving the screen on right now.
