5k really can't get u anywhere...a decent 42in tv itself will take away 60-70% of ur 5k budget...btw, my living room is <11ft...i have a 50in plasma..love it

for the remaining of ur questions, esp plasma vs LCD...i think there are enough threads and answers over the net & LYN to help u decide..

u want speakers, u will need receiver (AVR)...that will set u back about RM2k at least..even a 5.1 HTIB speaker sets will set u back another RM2k at least..

then the cablings and interconnects...plus players, BD or HDMI DVD player..then the WDTV u want...

consider giving ur budget a stimulus boost..it'll help..
