Commencing rape using stock cooler lolz.
I initially thought that high HTTs would work easily, turns out the 700 series NBs DO need better cooling than that puny heatsink of mine.
So HTT goes back down, multi goes back to 13, priming at 3000 safe base just to make sure everything's "okay".

SSes later, need to prime through the whole Fall Out Boy album first before I post anything But first asking- the 62 Degrees Celsius "safe" temp- which temp does it refer to (In CPUID Hardware Monitor or Speedfan)?

QUOTE(xixo_12 @ Apr 2 2009, 09:39 PM) giv poison eventhough not finish prime does the software provide the different temp? I'm not using "toture test", just Blend, so it's supposed to run forever. Just not satisfied yet PID is 53-54C, Core is 56-58C when primed. I don't smell anything burning yet. Don't dare to go that high for vcore dependant clocking later on (max +0.075v), target is probably 3.4/5Ghz (for a 710 on a RM280 uATX board)

Eleeh. No reason to switch to DFI YET. Their super highend AM3 isn't out. BTW on the OC, I feel cheated. I thought my calculator said 3000, it was 2920. Nevertheless stable (obviously rofl) as a rock. Trying 3.1-3.2-3.3 (if possible) with +0.025v primes tomorrow, hopefully NB gets to 2.4. http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=539307This post has been edited by X.E.D: Apr 2 2009, 10:12 PM Attached thumbnail(s)

Sucky stock cooler is sucky. Priming at 3055, about the closest sucky stock can get. 1.36v reported from CPU-Z, but I don't think it's that high in BIOS. I'm flattening out in terms of thermal so I'm confident it'll pull through. Need. Good. Heatsink. And. HSF. Nao. This post has been edited by X.E.D: Apr 3 2009, 07:41 PM

QUOTE(blindbox @ Apr 5 2009, 12:59 AM) Yea sauce plz. Last time I heard Istanbul isn't coming to desktop . Well simple fact, AMD has never made a single server-oriented chip. Due to the way they work Istanbul has to get unto desktop for them to further recoup the majority of money spend on R&D and taping out the mask. It's also a great option for content creation people like me, because you can actually OC it compared to server CPUs and be cheaper. Worst case- AMD only makes Istanbul cores from now on, X6 for server, X4 and X3 business as usual. Unlockable with ACC? No idea. Best case- X6 for desktop. Deneb still exists. BTW new batch of KVR (the very short ones)- mostly OCable? Haven't really tested them before I put them into my sys. Seems to me that they're even better than my Elpida (boo) Corsair XMS2s in CAS This post has been edited by X.E.D: Apr 5 2009, 08:09 AM

QUOTE(fuzore @ Apr 6 2009, 10:21 AM) what where can get this price bro... Someone's selling the LEGENDARY Lanparty UT 790FX M2R (the only one with Pulse digital power reg) in Garage Sales for that offer. BUT ITS MINE (MY PREECIOUS etc. I said before, no snatching ) I'm a sucker for digital voltage regulators. 2900XT had it, now damn poison to get this.

I don't like any other "D"s made after the M2R tho. The DKs are not like the past Lanpartys, now have a bit of cincai here and there... Hopefully they actually make a LP UT AM3 board again for those who are rich enough. This post has been edited by X.E.D: Apr 6 2009, 10:34 AM

UT has 7 (6+1) phase digital power regulation, transpiper heatpipes, fancy audio module, dual LAN, Firewire, and additional Silicon Image 3132 RAID controller (since SB600 sucks arse). FXB has SB750, ACC (not applicable for PhII anyway), 5 phase (4+1) Power regs, native 6 port SATA support (thanks to SB700+++) It's like say, Asus ROG vs their normal ____ PRO/DELUXE boards. @ah_khoo Agreed. Even my current RM280 Gigabyte 780G has Firewire. I won't expect a new, robust DK until 890, and even so, they might reuse the design AGAIN (see the DK AM2 and DK AM3 board layouts, darn deja vu) This post has been edited by X.E.D: Apr 6 2009, 11:32 AM

I'm just in for the digital 7 phase. If it's analog regs, phases don't mean that much as it depends on the quality of the components. But since literally nobody makes digital ones (besides from Volterra and Pulse) they're rather good. Plus for RM400 it seems like a nice bet for some time to come (especially if a 6 core Phenom II actually happens, and if I want to OC that I better have stable power etc) EDIT: Oh, and I heard that digital power regs tend to get hot easily. Best way to cool them? (since they're not covered by the heatpipes adequately) This post has been edited by X.E.D: Apr 6 2009, 11:50 AM
