Let's start a thread for REITs vs Real Estate.
1. What are the difference between the two? 2. What are the advantages and disadvantages between one over the other?
I think one of the differences is, in REIT you're spreading your money over many properties whereas if you invest directly in real estate you will have a higher concentration of risks in a few properties.
Another difference is the lower entry cost for REITs.

ok ... let's make it simple
Real Estate = buy property, sell it
REIT = buying trust of other ppl's property
what's the different? NO DIFFERENT .. both of them is already collapsed, the bubble burst, US real estate is GONE
South Korean real estate also gone down the drain
so what's next? trace back the news from sept 2008 .. if you want to know how the bubble burst .. so many ppl bankrupt ... and because the bubble burst, US is closing a new bank branch every week!!
bank? you mean Citibank? This is not just any credit card, this is Citibank credit card .... Citibank revenues can purchase country ... now the value dropped lower than our Maybank, Public Bank ... now even CIMB is in trouble
how bout insurance? AIA? going down the drain as well ... the moment their US govenment inject money in their AIG ... they straight pay bonuses ... dun care
car le? GM, Crysler, Ford is going down drain .... Ford advertisement: BUY 2, GET 1 FREE
so what else you would like to know?
