Honestly, if the new PX10 sells at 3699 or 3299 im still glad i got my PV80 at 2999.

There is more to invest than just the tv alone, and the RM300 - RM700  extra money i find it very useful to put on side purchases.

For instance:

Monster Cable: RM130
Extra Household Items Insurance (cover lightning+theft) = RM150
altogether already RM280.
then, i can also think of
New HDMI DVD Player perhaps? RM 300
New PS2 /PS3? RM1599
*
PV80 was retailed at RM3999 before PX10 was launched. And you managed to buy it at RM2999. Now the PX10 was only retailed at RM3699, asked an electrical shop in SS2, cash term will be less than RM3k. No point comparing purchased price with RSP.

Yes new model will always come with improvement at a price, but not every new replacement model are superior to the previous model in terms of market perception and selling! Its the value perception that dictate the selling! The 42X10 is a bargain since its priced at 3.7k brand new vs PV80 at about 4.2k but if the 42PV80 can be had at 2.8k its an entirely different story!
*
Don't make things complicated as it is not. Forget about PV80 price when it is first launched. It was years ago and the old price doesn't even do justice for the market now. There is no comparison to be done now, Panasonic stop producing PV80, X10 is the replacement, nuff said. In a few weeks more, PV80 will be erased from retailer pricelist. It is simply not available to purchase anymore.

For now, PV80 @ RM2.8k, I can get X10 @ RM3k. No point stating the 3.7k price because that is the RSP. Only dumbass will buy at big crook store such as SenQ/Harvey Norman etc because they're selling at RSP. If you ask outside from those reseller like Legend, Desa, X10 is only around 3k for cash term!

Attentional, thanks for pointing that out to us dumbass and all. Didn't know the X10 price is also dropping fast from 3.5 to 3.3 to 3k now in less than 1 month! Man, its good time to get into plasma game!

Will ask my buddy to check outĀ  the 50X10 at Legend, to see if it can be had at 5k! because if they can sellĀ  the 42X10 at 3k..surely they can do 50X10 at 5k, because that was the speculated price for 50PV80. That will be a bargain!
*
I'm laughing my ass out, you must be a pariah uncle who never bought any electronics/electrical equipment before. X10 price is never dropping. It is still at 3.7k, and that's the RSP. You know what that means? RSP? If you do not know, google it, geez. The price Legend or other electrical store quoted are not RSP, those price are much lower than RSP, even more lower if you're willing to pay cash. So, even now Legend doesn't have stock yet for X10, but they quoted me 3k. So do you call that a price drop? Even our forumer htkaki quoted 2.9k without the video camera. doh.gif

Looks like xrossfire is right. To quote him:

I'd put a 100 bucks on the fact that when the new 42X10 comes around, there'll still be people here telling us that "The old pv80 is better, warranty is longer, bezel is less reflective" or shit like that when in actual fact, they are beating themselves up for not being capable of owning the new one... trust me, its already happening.

It is better to accept the fact that there are things out of your league, but telling us an obsolete product is better, you really need your medications.

Seriously dude, take your meds.

I was going to come to do a review on my unit which I got last Saturday. Seeing how things have turned out at this thread, there is no point in discussing about this anymore.

As far as I am concerned, I made the right decision. Have sinced moved the PV80 to another room. The X10 is now my main viewing unit.

If anyone is interested in the review, you may PM me.This thread is too sensitive.

BTW, not all big stores charge crazy price, they are all negotiable. So dont generalize.
FYI RM3.45 K - full package with all HDMI/S Video cables/tshirt/cap/camcorder/4gb card - Harvey Norman.
*
I think the answer is pretty obvious since the X10 is now your main viewing unit. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif X10 PWNedzzzzz PV80 kau kau.

Wanna share my experience with this plasma price at Harvey Norman. biggrin.gif

I went there just now, told the salesperson that someone from this forum claimed that he bought the x10 at RM3.45k together with the videocam. He say impossible, as the RM3999 is a promotion price and impossible that the store will reduce RM550 for this promotion. (Think logically guys)

I demand that I talk to the store manager, the store manager came and I explain to him very softly that someone did bought it at RM3.45k. He is very helpful and lead me to the cashier where they kept all the record there. Flip through a few files and he said, the lowest they ever sold is RM3.85k. RM3.45k is only possible if without the videocam. smile.gif

He insist very hard that, if that person who bought it at RM3.45k can show his proof of purchase (ie the receipt, he personally will give a unit FREE - this is to show how confident he is that it is IMPOSSIBLE to get at RM3.45 with the free videocam)

So, guys, now we know who is full of sh1t and who isn't.

I think its no brainer! If HTKAKI selling 42x10 at 2.9K, even if he is in Seremban or out of town, I will just drive there and pick it up!
*
So, are you going to be a man of your words and drive down to seremban and get a unit from htkaki? cool2.gif

Nothing to prove to anyone. Good luck in your hunt. I have indicated what I got.

Read my initial post again if you need to understand the situation.

Called the guys in Legend. They are so blur and did not even know there is a new Panasonic model. I rather buy from htkaki or commontan lah as they know what they are selling and speak with authority on the subject.
*
commontan got stock? icon_rolleyes.gif Can commontan give RM3.6k? I remember her price was RM3.8k and that is before delivery. icon_rolleyes.gif Does commontan have a store presence? Anything wrong find who? Legend has a store anywhere in KL.

Someone said RM3550.00 at Legend and without freebies is at RM2800.00. DOn't be too sure until you really bought the set. From what i know right now is at RM 3699.00 plus the standard freebies.

And if you really watch more Astro than others sources, yes Plasma is the best bet..
here is the article : http://jintexelectronics.com/index.php?mai...le&article_id=6

It is true Kevin. RM3550 cash price for P42X10K + Panasonic SDR-S26 + 4GB SD + HDMI cable. RM2800 for P42X10K. Me and a few colleagues bought 5 sets at one shot.

Yes. Samsungs LCDs (from 650 onwards) and Plasmas have full CMS and 2 point greyscale adjustment.

Hi bro, does this X10 has a lot of calibration to do? Do you think there will be much improvement after calibration? Please advice. I'm now watching mine with default setting only.

Definately, it will improve quite a bit. The X10 can be calibrated to good grayscale in the service menu. Shadow details will improve pretty much. The default setting have a bad greycale and the colour temp is way off. You will see a more 3D image when grayscale is calibrated. Especially for DVD and BluRay. For Astro, not too much since the compression on Astro is pretty bad. Also Astro does not broadcast any test patterns to calibrate the picture with.

I calibrated a PV80 for a fellow forumer, there was a difference that he could see.
*
Thanks for the reply bro. Unfortunately I don't know how to tune and do not have the proper device to tune. If ever you come to Selangor, maybe you can help me to tune. I don't mind paying for the service. tongue.gif

I was thinking of ordering the Digital Video Essential blu-ray disc for tuning on my X10. Do you think that will have much improvement? I don't want to spent RM100 on a blu-ray in the end turns out nothing much improvement.
