Yup agreed, partly also depends on what IEM you're using. Like when I'm using Creative EP630. SQ on Sony X series and iPhone doesn't differ much xD

no doubt sony EQ is good, HOWEVER, i would like player that do not have to alter the EQ to have good SQ. Same goes to IEM, if u need to tweak the EQ to get a SQ that sound nice to you, then it is not the ideal IEM for u already smile.gif
may i ask u a question? can let me copy ur collection? XD
*
hey i did say that Sony's EQ are good but i didnt alter the EQ. I set my EQ to none ... the PL21 sounds good with it...
After burning in for 10hrs of my PL21 , i realised a lot of difference... overall SQ are more well-balanced now... icon_rolleyes.gif

iPod isn't totally bad. At least you will get line-out - get a good portable amp and you will have yourself a relatively good setup.

Just placed an order on PL21, hopefull will see it soon.

Haha , remember to post a review of PL21 bro.. i would like to see what you think about it ...
to me it sounds really good for budget IEMs

Mmhmm i think it's because EP-630 has it's own definitive "sound signature"
So whatever comes from the source, will sound like ep-630. i know it doesnt really make sense but yeah.
Whereas for soundmagic it plays exactly what the source is sounding like. And the "sound signature" follows the source more than the IEM itself. Poor source will reveal it's flaws clearer IMO.

Yeah man, no EQ better.
In fact having direct pass-through is better, more DSP in the chain causes more loss in sound quality...

O.o ClieOS i thought he reviewed it once?

initially is malaysia & SG each a distributor..but now combine become 1 only

their move is wanna to control d price(bcz d price from d seller r various)

In many way SoundMAGIC has grown large enough that they will have to become very 'formal' in handling their distribution network. I hope they won't over-control it since they did rely heavily on the internet back channel for sale in the pass. While it is an overall good thing that future customers get better service from official distributor, I like to see a bit of freedom as well.

It would be better as it will enhance the bass in terms of quantity and quality...
I think you can search through the garage sales as i remembered there's some ppl talking about the E5 with PL30 there.. cool.gif

I'm okay with the bass of PL-30 lar bro ; )
Have been burning in using a pure sine wave tone @ 25Hz, 45Hz and 90Hz for the past 20 hours, it really bring out the bass a lot...

Then use frequency sweep 125hz-0hz/120sec to smooth out the range

now total burn in time around 100 hours edy, another 25hrs it should be settled down...using BurnInWave generator
http://www.burninwave.com/

Just wanna know whether the PL-30 needs an amp to perform better or not. I read somewhere it's related to impedance and resistance electronics stuffs etc and i suck at that shit.

Anyone using an E5 on their SoundMagic IEMs?

Yeap on Ipod shuffle it sucks, weak muddy bass and narrow soundstage. Sucks more than my SC or lappy or even SE Walkman phones =.- Even 7 year old soundblaster 5.1 wins it =.-

Hows your PL21 now compare to X-series stock? brows.gif brows.gif
I know haven't burn in, but still. comment abit ?

Oh, still in the burning process , so far 10hours already.
Ermm.... just a rough idea about this PL21 so ;
Soundstage: Not bad but of course not as good as the PL30 , much better than the Sony's stock NC earphones..
Comfort: IEM really light , feels comfortable...
Isolation: I felt it depends on the eartips you are using. Im using the smallest tips that was provided and noise isolation about the same like your PL30
SQ: Quite good in terms of highs, mids, bass( Definitely better =D). rclxms.gif
Clarity: After burning in for 10hrs , i realised the sound are more well-balanced and clearer.. i could hear every instruments clearly... brows.gif
brows.gif
The rest i'll leave it to Clieos ... haha icon_rolleyes.gif

Just got my PL11 from maninkl today. Quick 5-minute test straight out of the box, the soundstage is really really narrow compared to my JVC FX33 Marshmallows. The highs are also lacking, but there's aplenty of bass. This PL11 is definitely meant for bassheads. Hopefully the highs and soundstage will improve after burn in... sad.gif

FYI I'm pairing this with my MuVo V100 while awaiting my Clip+ to arrive.

Added on December 3, 2009, 9:26 pmOK, after changing the tips to M size from the S size that came as default, the bass has reduced and highs increased. I think I might have stucked them too deep into my canals earlier which is what I usually do with my Marshmallows. There's still room from improvement so let's see how it goes...

How's the sound of PL-50 compared to fischer eterna?

When I use the eterna to listen to some lower quality music files like those downloaded from Digi Music service, I'm annoyed by how poor it sound. Is Eterna unforgiving on poor sources?

I read that PL-50 is more forgiving on poor sources, what's your opinion on this? One more thing is PL-50 practical to use outdoors, like be able to put on fast and it won't break seal that easily?

Sorry for so many questions tongue.gif
