Hey Soo yew guan, that's nice game. What do you use to create it? opengl? or cocos2d?
good luck man. i have one game too.. but it sucks.. haha thinking to do a major update though..

Thanks, I am glad you like it. I was using Cocos2d before, but I recently switch to the game engine created by 71Squared (http://www.71squared.com).

Based on my experience Cocos2d is basically easier to code your game, but I am facing a lots problem in integrating other features I want for my game.
The 71Squared game engine, on the other hand, is based on original OpenGL that you got from XCode template. Although it take time to understand the structure as compared to Cocos2d.

sooyewguan,
I see. I haven't used any game engine so far. I wrote the game from scratch. I went to cocos2d website  before, but suddenly lazy to read haha.. but quite interested to try it.

qawyhamz,
that is pretty much true. Games category is hard to compete. Because there are so many big developer who sells their game at 1.99 or 99cents. Such as Gameloft, EA, etc. And looking at their games, are mostly 3D and very polished graphics and gameplay. They can do it, because they have plenty of resources/expertise/manpower. Individual developer like us, struggles... fyi, my first game is making 0 nowadays for many2 months already.

BUT (here comes the big but), there are cases where smalltime developer make it big, like those 2 brothers who created Doodle Jump game.. making $3mil+ up to now.. so selling games its like gambling really.. haha.. if u lucky, u get the jackpot!

Well, the problem is people willing to spend few bucks for a Starbuck, rather than a game. I think it is really a crucial moment when you release you game into app store, that if you can't make yourself into Top 100 within few days, most likely you will have difficulty to get a good sales.

I am working on a new game currently, hopefully this one can sell better than the first one smile.gif
