sorry then. i will jz stop posting here. i did not expect something this small to be so sensitive. a forum is here for people to speak their opinions and ask questions. don go flaming other people just because of other ppl voicing their concerns.

nvm. i jz keep my mouth shut or some sensitive fellas will come flame me again for the wrong choice of words.

my only advice to u - don over-rely on third party and use it as your 'RICE BOWL'. i've learnt it the hard way. good luck.

Typical of Malaysians.... *sigh*

Hi XCool.

I think most of devs are quiet in here because we are essentially competitors. LOL!.

We cant talk about app ideas in here, surely someone will steal it. So what to talk about then?

w3t3nnu3ndo,

Not much really. Nowadays the app store is so crowded that it takes so much work just to market it. Even if you got real good app, without marketing, u'd prbably getting 0-1 sales per day, unless it is free.

hi developers here,

i had completed one of the app using the microphone as the input, but during distribution in appstore, i can't select the required device only for iphone 3G/3GS.

i used the UIRequiredDeviceCapabilities in the xml file, but after submitted for distribution, apple will automatically includes the ipod touch (2nd gen) in the distribution list, weird,?i remembered few months back it's different. anyone here facing the same issue?
*
Hey, AFAIK, this UIRequiredDeviceCapabilities means zilch for the app. I tried it before, it doesnt do anything for some reason. One of my apps is using the accelerometer, and had that included. When submitted, it says binary error.

My guess is that the iTunesconnect now auto selects the device for you depending on what classes/api you use. (speculating at that, not sure).

Just make sure you handle the absent of mic in your app, then you should be ok.

hi,

problem solved. previously i inserted wrongly. at 2nd try, i manually insert the UIRequiredDeviceCapabilities into the info.plist xml file as shown below, the Apple ituneconnect will check for the UIRequiredDeviceCapabilities first.  biggrin.gif  hope it helps developers here. biggrin.gif . i'm really not so used to the Xcode way of doing program, still using the TextEdit way, old way of writing code  smile.gif .

<string>APPL</string>
<key>CFBundleSignature</key>
<string>????</string>
<key>CFBundleVersion</key>
<string>1.0</string>
<key>LSRequiresIPhoneOS</key>
<true/>
<key>UIRequiredDeviceCapabilities</key>
<dict>
  <key>microphone</key>
  <true/>
</dict>
<key>NSMainNibFile</key>
<string>MainWindow</string>
*
Woah.. you write all the codes in XML?? Even the nibs? Hm.. probably for microphone it works. For Accelerometer, it does not.. for some reason keep on saying binary error. I omitted it, and it just works fine anyways. lol.

Sad. No people willing to teach me even i work for free.
*
eventants, why don't you try to learn by yourself? There are just tonnes and tonnes of tutorials in google.
That is how i started last year. Took about few days to familiarize with xcode. Then in 1 month,
my first app was out already. tongue.gif

And i don't think anyone wants to 'hire' someone who do not know how to code, even if it is for free.
It just makes developing apps harder and slower. What you are asking is not you work for them for free,
its more like you want them to teach/train you for free. So that is not going to happen i think.

Give it a try learning by yourself (buy books or from internet). Or pay someone to teach you. wink.gif

boonboon, you registered as Sdn Bhd? Wow man... that is pretty expensive to be in.
Why not Enterprise instead?

I am still running solo though. Prefer to be under the radar if you catch my drift.

Google is your best friend.

Start to learn with those "Hello World" tutorials.

That's how I got started.

The best is probably buy a book with a follow thru examples.

sooyewguan,
I see. I haven't used any game engine so far. I wrote the game from scratch. I went to cocos2d website before, but suddenly lazy to read haha.. but quite interested to try it.

qawyhamz,
that is pretty much true. Games category is hard to compete. Because there are so many big developer who sells their game at 1.99 or 99cents. Such as Gameloft, EA, etc. And looking at their games, are mostly 3D and very polished graphics and gameplay. They can do it, because they have plenty of resources/expertise/manpower. Individual developer like us, struggles... fyi, my first game is making 0 nowadays for many2 months already.

BUT (here comes the big but), there are cases where smalltime developer make it big, like those 2 brothers who created Doodle Jump game.. making $3mil+ up to now.. so selling games its like gambling really.. haha.. if u lucky, u get the jackpot!

Great. I am an indie too. I'd like to ask do you register your company with SSM?
Care to share about the process to register if you did it? I am still assigned to an individual
developer account with iTunes.

Hey guys, dont spam this thread with job adverts.

Anyway, most of us iPhone developers just do it part time.. so we don't really like to work for somebody else. I mean,
we create apps, and we get all the income, as opposed to, we create for u, u give us few ks.. and that's it? Seriously this
is why the reason most iPhone devs just do it alone, or with close friends.
