QUOTE(anon5391 @ Jan 23 2010, 09:36 AM) Thinking of finally pulling the trigger for a macbook pro 13. If the macbook is "refreshed" during the coming Jan 27th Apple event, what usually happens to the existing stock? Clearance sale? Core2Duo good enough for me. Appreciate you guys advice yeah there'll be a clearance sale. but i think macbook wont be refreshed...juz the MBPs. C2D is good enough..FOR NOW QUOTE(streetfx @ Jan 24 2010, 04:51 PM) 27" imac IINM got worldwide delay. so many cases of cracked screens n such, probably the box is not tough enough for shipping |

TS i suggest u get the one crazyee recommended. for now the latest macbook and 13" MBP have the same spec. even if new MBP comes out, i doubt the current 13" will fetch below rm3.5k, and a new macbook seems unlikely since it's still new.
since u're new to mac, u dont think u have any firewire devices anyway. SD slot can juz use generic card reader. plus it's only rm300 more expensive than the one promoted at machines for a much better designed notebook. |

QUOTE(JasonMania @ Jan 28 2010, 12:23 PM) if you are getting MBP for gaming big mistake Apple computers are never good for gaming , don't get me wrong they can do gaming but they are not that good at it. uhm i always wonder why when someone mentioned gaming, another will straightaway say go for PC, as if the computer is ONLY used for gaming. sure PCs are better at gaming, but there's nothing wrong with playing games on a mac. im pretty sure when someone ask about gaming on Mac, they just want to know how good will it be. if they're considering a mac in the 1st place, then what they want is OSX, the good hardware (as in the computer build and features, not components), but juz dont want to miss out on games. which they wont have to.before you make your decision i recommend that you check out the new Dell XPS studio with core i7 cpu , and it is almost the same price but you get huge performance from that thing and much better graphic performance. that being said, altecphoto i suggest u to get the MBP if that's not much of a problem. if u're curious about gaming, juz look for benchmarks on the 9400M, simple QUOTE(Jing-leBelle @ Jan 28 2010, 12:25 PM) Depends on ur usage on HDMI, SD Card (U can oweys use card reader) , Alu body (wat's the diff?). I personally finds no different la, save 900 bux for other things HDMI?well alu body easier to keep clean heheh |

QUOTE(CRSSER @ Feb 3 2010, 11:47 PM) none of us would know if anything gets n upgraded n when. rumours are rumours. but so far the MBW didnt have any upgrades since launch. a speedbump is imminent of course...juz that we dunno when or whatQUOTE(maclover @ Feb 4 2010, 01:45 AM) that's because Msians dont earn that much to support luxurious products. MBA is like a Rolls Royce to a MBP as a Beemer. U pay more for the a slower car. but the thinovation. I see alot of MBAs in international airport. we are just some poor basterds. XD hehe probably |

QUOTE(mematron @ Feb 9 2010, 07:11 PM) It's a private school... And I must get a Macbook, not Windows. If it asked me to get one, why would I post this? Anyway, old Macbook Pro Santa Rosa 2.1 ghz comes with X1600, and old MBP SR 2.5 ghz comes with 8600M GT. wow got school require students to get macbook? Any idea? still can't get a clear answer.. i'd recommend u get MBP with 8600 because it's newer... dunno if u can get the x1600 models in good shape today btw the x1600 models are using core duo (i cant recall there was a santa rosa version). 8600 is using core 2 duo. price difference between the two models shouldnt be much i assume also try to get the 8600 model that comes with LED backlit display (shud be the penryns), cuz the previous screens doesnt look good after a while. also u might wanna set aside some cash for a new battery BUT THEN: why dont u juz get a brand new macbook white? i think the macbook price is okay. decent laptops are in the 3k-4k range. dont compare the specs though...at the same price point a windows laptop will have better CPU etc. but here's the thing...people want a fast CPU because they want their computer to be fast right? but in windows, u need to run so many other programs like antivirus, malware protection, firewall, etc...and all this will slow down a computer.
maybe u can say a windows PC is like a huge lorry.... huge 7 litre engine, lots of horsepower but cant go fast because it's heavy. n macs are probably 2 litre engine, good looking n easy to drive cars, but can go quite fast due to less weight yeah this post is very fanboyish haha. but it's pretty rare to see someone bought a mac, regret it n move back to windows. that's saying something This post has been edited by dvlzplayground: Mar 13 2010, 12:56 AM |

i think there wont be an update for macbook. of course i wont know for sure, i just think macbook n ipad are two different products so they wont tie a macbook update with the ipad
anyway dun worry too much about new update or not...if the current macbook suits ur needs then go ahead n get one. even if there's an update...probably it'll come with core i3 but will lose out the awesome 9400M |

QUOTE(skool87 @ Mar 25 2010, 09:29 PM) as long the new 1 better spec, its price unavoidable the price more expensive. not necessarily true. MBP prices went down after updates so far. the 1st gen entry level was 7899 i think. down to 7199 for the unibody 08 models. juz for the current lineup the entry level prices went down again but w/o the discrete GPUhigher price, higher spec This post has been edited by dvlzplayground: Mar 25 2010, 11:22 PM |

well maybe a pros n cons list can better serve you
PROS - much stable system, significantly less software problems - free from virus. no need to spend money on antivirus n malware protection stuff - easy to set up a lot of stuffs (printers, network sharing, screen sharing, etc) - efficient backup system (Time Machine) - firewire 800 port, ability for Target Disk Mode (except for macbook) - can still run windows if you need it For MacBooks n MacBook Pros - slim and stylish - very good screen, accurate colours - longgg battery life - huge, great to use, multitouch trackpad For iMac - very good mouse included - IPS panel screen, wonderful colours! - easy to clean - cheap price for what you get CONS - some programs dun have Mac version, esp. games <- but then you can just install windows on Macs - expensive extended warranty - generally slower CPU n GPU, less RAM n HDD compared to windows computer at the same price - no HDMI - miniDisplayPort adapters are quite expensive - no bluray drive For MacBooks and MacBook Pros - only two USB ports, very close to each other - expensive batteries and charger - no Core i5/i7 models YET - white MacBook damn easy to get dirty For iMac - Magic mouse may not be suitable for certain applications This post has been edited by dvlzplayground: Mar 28 2010, 12:30 AM |
