Lately my old desktop is starting to act up and I'm thinking to replace a new computer. But somehow I'm undecided between these 2 models..
Imac 21.5" Mac Mini 2.5 ghz Basically I'll be using it for web browsing, word processing and playing some casual games. Which will suit me better? Thinking of getting the Mac mini as it's cheap, but I'm worried that because of it's small size it will break easily.. Thanks in advance! |

dont worry about the mac mini breaking easily ;P
even the rm1.9k mac mini should be enough for you. add the apple wireless keyboard and magic mouse that's just rm2357 (or you can use ur old keyboard and mouse). it comes down to what monitor do you want to use it with. if u want to use ur old monitor, no need to spend more |

if i were you, i would get a macbook pro that would go perfectly with your external monitor. that wud give you the portability option. and if you have extra budget, get the external keyboard and mouse.
but with that being said, a mbp is quite out of budget compared to a mac mini or 21' imac. |

it all boils down to your budget as well. if your budget allows for the iMac, then why not? the IPS screen is just uber awesomeness.
anyway, was in your shoes as well and with limited budget (after selling off my good ol' Alienware M11x), i went for the Mac Mini + Wireless KB + Magic Mouse combo for just RM2157 (got the Mac Mini for around 10% off market price). got a spare 22" LCD lying around hence this combo lets me utilise it as well. surfing, some amount of photoshop and Excel for slightly over RM2k. |

I'm now undecided between the mac mini or imac. I will be only using for web browsing, doing my reports...etc.. I'm only worried that the mac mini will be too laggy or slow. |

I'm only worried that the mac mini will be too laggy or slow. unless u're doing heavy simulation, video editing, 3d modelling or gaming... the mac mini's i5 processor is more than enough. if after u buy still feel too slow, can easily bump the RAM up to 4gbmy 2008 MBP spec is wayyy lower than the current mac mini, i dont feel lag at all |

QUOTE(Mr.PostMan @ Aug 10 2011, 12:41 PM) Hi thanx for the advise If you have Credit Card, you may just go to this link to get the redeem code. (i'm total noob to MAC) http://www.apple.com/asia/macosx/uptodate/ Else, refer to this post below. You may need to request for receipt from the seller. QUOTE For those who don't have credit card and bought apple product from other than the authorized Apple reseller (ie. seller from garage sales), you can get your free OS X Lion legitimately . 1. Go to this link https://uptodate.apple.com/asia/uptodate/macosx/ 2. Enter all required information. You have to scan the receipt as the proof of purchase. 3. Once they reply with the redeem code (took me a week to complete). You can redeem via the App Store. 4. You still need an apple id which already verified. Now, the problem is you don't have a credit card. You have to create new appleid via itunes by choosing free apps. Then select none as your payment method. 5.Use this apple id to login in App Store and enter the redeem code. Your lion will be downloading after that. |
