@Qool,
The Online Stores doesn't ship the Macs with SL pre installed. U do get a CPU Drop In Disc though. Installation of SL on a brand new 13" MBP takes roughly about 45 minutes. Also, if I ain't mistaken, there's some sort of promotion at Machines; some freebies are up for grabs. I don't have the information on me but check out their website if you're interested. |

@jasperng,
I've not faced any heating issues; then again I haven't quite been checking but ever since I received this 13" MBP on Friday, I haven't switched it off and i don't think it's heating up. Mine came pre-installed with Leopard but there was a Snow Leopard CPU Drop-In Disc. Thus far, no issues with SL on my system and Safari is very much more responsive on SL than on Leopard. |

@jasperng,
Lemme guess - this is your first Mac purchase? *smiles* Go with it, no need to worry. I've not looked back since I made my first purchase in 2007. Now, I'm almost everything Mac; except I don't like stuffing things into me ears so I never had an iPod |

haha ya first apple product in my life. Still worried about engineering program. But I think I can sort it out with parallel desktop if I really need to use a software in window.

@jasperng,
If what you're studying is going to require something that's Windows based then I'll recommend you consider getting a proper Windows based laptop and not a Mac. Otherwise, go with Mac; U certainly won't regret it! |

You might want to check with those in the same engineering course as you on what are the software that they use to see if its suitable for running within a virtual machine or not. If its something rather heavy and resource hungry, then you might want to consider dual booting (bootcamp) instead, but if its something small to medium sized, then a VM should be alright.I'll recommend vmware over parallels though. |

Luxury. Appearance. Love. And no virus.
It's better for multimedia actually. But frankly PC is more bang for buck by far. I wish to switch to Mac myself, but if your rig is used for games, stick to PC. Maybe I get both, since my economy now quite comfortable. |

i think u should go to MAC shop to try the MAC that they used to demonstrate, maybe u will know why people choose MAC over PC
and if u a heavy gamer, i not really suggest u go to buy MAC. This post has been edited by devabby: Sep 9 2009, 04:20 PM |

Mac is not meant for everyone, it is for people with creative minds only Added on September 9, 2009, 4:47 pm QUOTE(rx330 @ Sep 9 2009, 05:37 PM) devabby, i disagree, wen i go to apple resellers n try, i find it dem hard to use and frustating, it was when i bought it home and try, only i found out the beauty of it Agreed with you! QUOTE(WhiteFlag @ Sep 9 2009, 03:57 PM) hi all the tech enthusiats out there Quite simple really. with the broadcast industry, Apple's products allows me to offer solutions (even customized ones) at a price that's extremely difficult to beat.im very curious y ppl willing to spend way overrrrr price to get apple computer? in fact the hardware is just so lousy i'd say. for me what apple attracts me is jz the outer superb look, i don actually know whats the strength of apple computer and make it so unique, i believe what you can do wif apple, u can do wif normal pc as well, make pc perform even better with the price u willing to pay. so, pls share wif me y u buy apple, wat u do wif apple computer,what software is better to be used in apple, mayb some day i also will become apple supporter? who knows See if you can find a workflow & asset management system that's fully customizable and extensible for less than RM3649 (that's how much Final Cut Server). And when you're talking about the high end workstations and servers to handle such types of workload, the Mac Pro and the Xserve are actually very attractively priced, and at times cheaper than competitor products from like HP or IBM too. The thing about Apple's pricing is well, for the lower range products, the price seems rather high, but for the higher range products, its actually cheaper. Another example where the price is rather difficult to beat will be in high performance storage solutions (Xsan) |

you are comparing the price based on the hardware Apple list out... try compare to those that Apple did not list out... Mac's hardware contains more than its looks....
spec are lousy u say? how come Mac OS X Leopard can out perform Vista on these "lousy spec"? spec are no longer the key to winning the "performance war" |

QUOTE(marcus_dds @ Sep 9 2009, 03:59 PM) Luxury. Appearance. Love. And no virus. This is a myth. MacOSX has virus just like every other OS. It just that hackers tends to target the biggest group, which is the Windows platform. In fact, i read some test and review done not too long ago, VISTA is actually more secured than Mac OSX.It's better for multimedia actually. But frankly PC is more bang for buck by far. I wish to switch to Mac myself, but if your rig is used for games, stick to PC. Maybe I get both, since my economy now quite comfortable. And frankly, this 'better for multimedia' isn't true either. But MAC OSX does have the best presentation and clean interface. I enjoyed my Hackintosh...lol. |
