I'm currently working in SG, subscribed for broadband-on-mobile from Singtel (SGD13/month, 30GB data). As the network manager in my company, I just deployed Exchange 2007 in our company and I have configured OWA and ActiveSync last month. Main usage on my X1 is push mail though.

I hardly play games on my WinMo phones coz I do bring my PSP wherever I go.

I want to try custom ROM, but I'll wait for TouchIT to have video call feature bundled in.

just a quick check.. I am about to flash my X1 to TouchIT 5.04. Do I need to perform a HardSPL on my phone first?

I read the ReadMe document in 5.04 and it did not mention anything about HardSPL.

Just finished flashing my X1 to v5.04. Got stuck at the flashing process as it always fails at 0%. I flashed HardSPL and it works flawlessly till 100%. Now still waiting for it to synchronize back to my Exchange server

Yup, from what I have tried it seems that flashing to 3rd party ROM is not possible without going through HardSPL first.

2nd day on TouchIT v5.04, brief review as follow:
+ Nice interface (Touch Flow)
- Lags when switch to/ switch back from landscape mode
- Buggy. You'll see some weird color when you swipe your finger sideways when you are typing a sms.
- resource hogger. Touch Flow alone takes up 100MB+ of resource.

I'll keep it with me till R3AA comes out. Overall not really satisfied with the v5.04.

It doesn't comes free... I tried it once and removed it after few days.

Reason is because X1 has only 2 buttons to customize (left and right soft keys). You will lose either 1 to configure it for Voice Command.

Overall it is a cool feature but there are many drawbacks:
1. You can't use handsfree to activate voice command.
2. Lose out 1 soft key
3. You will be damn embarassed if you forgot to disable it to annouce emails/sms... trust me, my gf sent me something "stupid" and my phone announced it in the middle of a meeting

The pictures come out blur only when you take photos under low light. Try to capture a pic under bright sunlight. You'll be amazed on how sharp it is.

The blur part is because the camera needs to keep its shutters open to gather more light to expose the photo properly. E.g. it might take 1/500 seconds to capture a photo under bright sunlight but it might take 1/3 seconds to take the same photo under low light. X1's camera works differently as it does not crank up the ISO to increase the image sensor's sensitivity. It simply extends the exposure time and thus very prone to handshake within this prolonged capture.

It never comes to mind when you never notice your X1's shots are never grainy and noisy?

Since you'd asked I just did a comparison as I have both drivers on my X1. Interesting findings as follow...

Test environment: At home, cloudy after rain. Main light source is the florescent lights on top of me.
Subject: Just my living room table. Not going to upload any test shots.

the 2nd photo is much sharper than the 1st but it shows high noisel level too. Upon further inspection I decided to close the lens with my finger just to capture a black photo...

And to my surprise, X1's default camera has a shutter speed max at 1/8 sec, ISO 100 fixed. No auto ISO, and that explains why it performs badly in low light.

A quick one:

v5.04 does not comes with FM radio is it? Can I install the relevant panel for the radio?

I do prefer to have my camera to pull up the ISO just to sustain the fast shutter speed; not sure why Sony implements their camera driver this way.

Like others, I switch to TouchHD's camera driver to capture low light images. The result so far is acceptable, much better than getting blurry pictures.
