yo, well, i have a little disagree with that. that is old term of portraiture, new term for those are called 'head-shots' usually used for portfolio stars, artist, etc, as i am doing this weekend for halo cafe (20 over singers)

portraiture has been evolve so much since the introduction of prime lens and digital ages coming in, and the 'art of portraiture' has changed... some portraiture can be taken of a whole landscape with a tiny "model" at one edge.  smile.gif

eye contact is not a must for good potraiture, for example, google strobist or creative lighting's portraiture, u notice a lot good portraiture or headshoot not necessary made eye contact biggrin.gif

my 2cent.  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif  thumbup.gif

err....
eye contact = portrait
no eye contact = art of portrait

1.4 so so so so so much better izit?
*
if you buy 1.4, you can go 1.4 and 1.7
if you buy 1.7, you can go 1.7 but cannot go 1.4

however, if you don't need to shoot at low light that required 1.4, then get 1.7
however, usually people that get 1.7 that think they don't need 1.4, will feel regret when there is a need of 1.4
so, best get 1.4

or if like me, I know I won't shoot anything that need 1.4 or 1.7, if I don't have, I rather not shoot tongue.gif

and the most important thing... 1.4 is sony, 1.7 is old minolta biggrin.gif

PS: My above reasoning is assuming money $$$ is not the issue

QUOTE(Zeegon @ Apr 3 2009, 06:19 PM)
So do you use a monopod there?
Usually you take full face, half body or full body?
Other ppl all flashing, kinda hard right?
*
if you refer to last time my panasonic fz3, that is compact camera that can do F2.8 with 35mm to 420mm.... small camera no need monopod biggrin.gif
people flashing, out of 50, only less than 5 caught other people flash

if you refering now, no need monopod also.... if you refer to my webby on year 2008 photos fashion show, those are shot without monopod using kit lens and m42 lens

i haven't shoot any fashion shows with my 70-200 yet, this month want shoot.... 20-30mins per show holding a 3kg camera will be fun biggrin.gif

QUOTE(Kul | Mo0 @ Apr 3 2009, 06:19 PM)

when doing panning, it is best not to shoot completely horizontal
slant a bit as it shows a better effect like it is going either uphill or downhill
