yo, well, i have a little disagree with that. that is old term of portraiture, new term for those are called 'head-shots' usually used for portfolio stars, artist, etc, as i am doing this weekend for halo cafe (20 over singers)
portraiture has been evolve so much since the introduction of prime lens and digital ages coming in, and the 'art of portraiture' has changed... some portraiture can be taken of a whole landscape with a tiny "model" at one edge.
eye contact is not a must for good potraiture, for example, google strobist or creative lighting's portraiture, u notice a lot good portraiture or headshoot not necessary made eye contact
my 2cent.
