which part of the sound didnt you like?
the only thing missing from the microcube is a 3 band eq, otherwise it'd be perfect

Hey I have both the AV3 and Microcube, to me they are real good for their price. Here are some of my thoughts.

If what you meant soft is that the distortion sounded a bit weak, the culprit could be the stock humbuckers, coz to me they sounds fine for blues/rock/jazz, but lack definition when used with loads of distortion. Also, the AV3 is somewhat a LP inspired guitar, and to me the LP shape just isn't the best shape for metal, their heavy mahogany body would muddy up the sound when used with too much distortion. (Great for sludge metal though). It isn't perfect, but it's a good guitar, I changed my pickups and now love it to bits. Wouldn't trade it for a Santa Cruz if I were you. smile.gif

It would be easier to recommend you the guitar if you can list out the genres tht you like. As for the microcube, it's a fine practice amp. A little shorthanded in some areas, but at this size and price, it's unbeatable. biggrin.gif

Bout the Microcube i was happy with the size...do you think i should get a microcube back?
kinda feel that it was a waste to sell my guitar now... cry.gif

list of genres...hmm...im opting out metal as i wanna play to release a little stress laugh.gif metal might crank up my volume so its a no

im a fan of U2...would like to learn to play their songs someday...so that would be in the blues/rock category? hmm.gif

got another question...was it me or the Avion3 is slightly heavier than an average guitar weight?i dont mind the designs of avion3...i love it actually...thats why i got it in the first place...

after reading what you post...suddenly choosing a guitar to suit myself sounds very important lol...didnt know that... sweat.gif

Yeah the AV3 is has a thick body so it's heavier compared to a strat.

You like U2? Whoa.. I see their guitarists use all kinds of guitar.. LP got, Explorer got, Tele got, 335 also got.. tongue.gif I think for his style of playing effects are more important, no? Im not their biggest fan so I have no idea which guitar to recommend you la. Best is to test them all and see which one you like, and if you find that your previous gears are the best fitting then go for it... though it's no harm to try something new. biggrin.gif

at you current state, go for multi effect. that way, you can experiment with the available effect before defining what you need.

and yes, the 1st important thing when buying a guitar is finding the one that suits you; build wise. for example, my 1st guitar was an ibanez grx40. it was versatile and not too shabby either, but after some time, i realize i'm not too comfortable with middle pickups and 5-way switches. so pick one you're comfortable with(build and looks), then judge how it sounds. it makes no sense buying an RR3 when you're not comfortable with the flying-V shape.

Why not check out the Vox line of Valvetronix? Microcube is good for the metal Metal tone, while Vox excels at classic rock or mid gain stuff. The AD series is going at a pretty decent price from CK Music.

errr.....that would be around 3-6k or even higher depending on model. you don't go for low-end stuff, huh?

it's weird seeing new guitarist nowadays just blindly aim for fenders and gibsons. you guys are sure rich.

I think it's because of brand recognition. You see all the artists up there playing Gibsons and Fenders, don't you think that's the best brand?

Like Apple........ everyone is going nuts over apple when they don't really know what apple is all about..... It's just a marketing ploy most of the time.

Anyway, back to the Vox, for the 15 watt AD, it's pretty light, but the box that comes with it is a little on the big side. There is an open air parking next to CK music for like, 4 bucks an entry.

hmm...seriously...i didnt know whats all the hype bout fender and stuff but whe guitar looked nice...personally...i hate Apple products lol...i prefer sony or cowon.
i got recommended by my friend on that fender...lol...but heck...im going to meet up someone on Saturday to try some...will try to get to CK that day too...

another question...what the difference between a copy and the original? is there quality loss between em? coz ive been seeing alot of em selling at Garage sales...

Blacktrix...do they do postage? might be going by foot that day...

the difference between the copy and the original is the quality, type of wood used, electronics, hardware....these will affect ur tone and sound of the guitar....IMO, if u just starting out in playing guitar then get a copy first...if u intend to be a musician then u'll need a good guitar....doesnt have to be the high end ones like gibson or fender us or prs us etc...ibanez makes good budget guitars..squiers....epihones...prs korea...yamaha....these guitars are all affordable and wont cost u like a gazillion bucks....

a better example is, people buying high-end DSLR but never actually move out of the Auto Shooting mode. laugh.gif

it seems that "spend wisely" is just a figment of someones imaginations.
