Interesting... hopefully, the developers of this unofficial firmwares don't create a hidden botnet daemon or accidentally breaks its router security like in the following link http://it.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=09/03/23/2257252This post has been edited by eclectice: Mar 25 2009, 06:43 PM

A firmware update still makes the router a POS.
Been having line dropping issues whenever torrent downloads are on. From 1.01.06 to 1.01.08(03) to now. I left the router in the drawer for 2 months and suddenly the POS works again. Overheating maybe? The worse router to get from Linksys.
OT: In fact, I had a lab session using a WRT54G2 in Uni and one of the units need to be reset everytime it restarts. Pain in the arse.
Still, the hardware in the WRT54GL is cool to flash with a 3rd party firmware

It is true these router can exceed radius 100M, just keep away from Interference, thats it.
Before continue firmware update... a) The firmware 1.01.09 is officially released for WAG200G. b) This firmware is only for usage in Europe with WAG200G Annex A hardware.

It would be more helpful if you could explain a little bit more further. If you are looking to decrease the speed of your Wi-Fi transmission, try changing the Wireless Mode to something like 'B', which runs at 11Mbps. I don't think anything lower than that is applicable in most Access Points these days... Hope this helps! Cheers!
