QUOTE
First intake of students into Taylor's Lakeside Campus scheduled for Jan 2010

In response to the ever-pressing need for knowledgeable human capital, Taylor's University College (TUC) is building a state-of-the-art modern tropical university campus fondly called Taylor's Lakeside Campus; an expansion in line with Malaysia's goal of becoming a regional centre of education excellence.

The RM450 million project located in Selangor, was officiated by Malaysia's Deputy Prime Minister, YAB Dato' Sri Haji Mohd Najib Tun Haji Abdul Razak in January 2007. Progress is well on track and Phase 1 will be completed by 2009, to coincide with Taylor's 40th anniversary in delivering quality education in Malaysia.

The new campus will open its door to the first batch of students in January 2010. Phase 1 of the campus, costing RM256 million, will cater to approximately 4,000 students. The campus will house state-of-the-art facilities such as the 4-storey glass edifice library, 600-pax auditorium, multi purpose halls, laboratories, practical rooms, hostel and scores of other world-class facilities.

Taylor's Lakeside Campus will house all existing tertiary programmes, currently located at various campuses in Selangor. Set on 27 acres of tropical greenery, the campus will also be surrounded by a revived 5.5 acre man-made lake, as well as a landscape of water plants, trees and flowering shrubs.

According to Taylor's Education Group Managing Director Dato' Loy Teik Ngan, the new Lakeside Campus reflects Taylor's commitment towards achieving Malaysia's goal of becoming a regional educational hub.

"Our unwavering commitment towards making Taylor's a centre of educational excellence stands firm and Taylor's Lakeside Campus is testament to our on-going endeavour to innovate and enhance the educational landscape by providing state-of-the-art infrastructure for local and international students," he commented.

Gee, they really love using "state-of-the-art".

Hahaha.
I was told Sept 09 early of this year. Now I heard Dec 09.
Well, I guess no May 10 it will not get launched de la.

But I will say, it may become among the most beautiful campus in Malaysia, but never Asia and worldwide.
Well, I should say, to beat Nottingham Malaysia for beauty is not easy.

That'd be really awesome, because currently I'm taking the Kesas Highway to their Leisure Commerce Square campus, and the jam past the Sunway Interchange is usually horrible.

When did you take those pictures, Mcdonuts? The campus still looks pretty far from complete, but I hear they're planning to be able to house students from all existing faculties and they can start moving in by next year.

The new lakeside campus is in the building progress. All the courses in SS15 will shift there except for the Pre-U courses.

It is scheduled that the campus will be done by this year and will allow 2010 intake there.

recently there are only 2 access into the building.
1 is only access for contractor and supplier. by using LDP highway heading towards to Puchong direction, turning left underneath the highway. by following the road where will pass by McD and Indian temple.

2 is actually inside the residential area.
more convenient way you can log in to http://maps.google.com/ and type taylor's lakeside campus, malaysia and search for the road jalan PJS 7/13.
asking for people around where is the location for morning market then i think you can find the entrance.

I agree it's hard to be the most beautiful campus in Asia and worldwide. I'm not sure it'll even be the best in Malaysia, with some many nice university campuses across the country. UTP (Petronas University of technology) for instance, has a very futuristic campus that blends into the natural surroundings well. SEGi has quite a unique campus too - with the marble and brick finish. I agree with you that Nottingham Malaysia is a beautiful campus.

Sounds very promising... But still it will not beat Nottingham for it's state-of-the-art modern typical design.

ridzuan and mentari are separated by busy highways and road to new campus

don think it is wise to invest there
unless they provide free bus shuttle every 20 mins tongue.gif

dayum... i've witnessed the lakeside campus developed from a flat land to beautiful white buildings since jan last year cos i'll pass by there everytime i'm goin home (the road, the flyover from Sunway Hospital to LDP, towards puchong, err.. hard to describe... the steep and curvy one... u ppl use them to avoid police blocks after clubbing if u're goin back to puchong)

now it's damn gorgeous, and i'm really tempted to go there. state-of-the-art mate... hahaha... i hope they will really open up a new road to connect to Kesas highway, will save the toll and congestions... and my house is just right next to the kesas.. HAHAHAHA

Well..I heard rumours that it might be pushed to the middle of the year for launching. Anyway, it looks like it's nowhere near completion for January's intake. It still is very beautiful. The residence will be managed by the TCHT (hospitality) students.

Just updating this topic a little.
Tdy visited the new campus.

From observation-entrance taken is from PJS7/13 route

-2blocks still being created---rough est i think each 50% done tongue.gif
-got mosque right in front of the place-Friday is going to be jam day.
-only 2 lanes(one going, one coming)-with residential area---its going to be more jam every morning,evening....maybe as more students come---even normal time got jam.
-Cant find 2nd entrance yet-must pay toll to get in?
-near PJS7/13----nearest restaurants are far away especially if lunch break only 1hour(so if food court food sucks lol)

Think that everything will be ready and running by the time my new semester commences in February next year--plausible biggrin.gif

Taylor's engineering definitely is moving there. In fact the PD wants to move earlier tongue.gif but yeah according to my lecturer its confirmed we are starting the next semester over there.

As for the shuttle bus that you gotta ask Taylor's about that, pretty sure that they going to make some kinda of arrangement bcs most students stay at SS15 and not many I know will be willing to move over there tongue.gif

Open facebook and type "Taylor's University College" on the search box. Then join the group and u can see the real picture of Taylor Lakeside Campus. U also can get into the discussion board and ask any questions there.

Added on December 24, 2009, 12:42 pmAnyway, can anyone tell me about rule or regulation in Taylor especially for hospitality management students?
I kinda curious about the dress code rule such as should we wear shirt everyday? Should it be long or short sleeves shirt? Can we wear T-Shirt? What happen if we coming into class with T-Shirt? How about the pants? Can we wear jeans? and how about the shoes?

for hospitality students, its compulsory to wear formal everyday. its easier for girls to stray abit as you know, girls have lotsa styles but for guys, it's quite hard not to wear formal, long sleeve shirt and black pants. as for tie, it depends on lecturer and what kind of classes youre having.

Hey, Taylor's Lakeside Campus is partially ready. School of Hospitality and Tourism (TCHT) has already started their orientation today in the Lakeside Campus. Other than TCHT,Biomed, Engineering, Business Law, Foundation in Science and Medicine will relocate to Lakeside Campus this month as well.

For all other tertiary programmes for example, Architecture, Mass Communication and Computing are going to move from March onwards. I think by mid of 2010, we will all be completely moved to the Lakeside Campus.

The Lakeside Campus is awesome!!! rclxms.gif

There will not be any increase in fees for those students which continue their programme. But for the new students, fees will might hav a slight increase as you kno that education fees increases every year about 5 - 10% =)

So how's your first day in Lakeside Campus? I supposed all orientations of TCHT have been carried out. I believe it is okay not to wear the dress code on the first day itself. But don't you think you will look smarter in formal attire tongue.gif

What do you think about the facilities and the environment there?

you could stop there but that one is about 10 minutes walk ^^" There's another bus stop also in that area,I don't know how it is if your from LRT Kelana Jaya but when I took the bus to go to LRT Kelana Jaya the stop is before the one in front of Sunway Court.

well there's not really any noticeable landmarks ^^" just from the bus stop walk straight and turn right. On the way to Taylor's on your right would be a gated housing area and on your left would be flats.

They will usually decide to accept a student or not for an intake that has already started on a case by case basis.Mostly they might still accept you up until early next week as they think students can still catch up since it's just been the first lecture. But I'm not so sure about this March intake since the number of students in this year's TBF march intake is higher than usual about 206 students ^^" You can try your luck,if you meet one of the counselors they might enroll you,but if you meet any senior counselor or member of the faculty they might decide whether to enroll you or not by looking at your results even if it meets the minimum requirement and in late enrollment cases they will usually have to ask approval from the Dean.Like I said earlier it will be done on a case by case basis.

Whether it's on time or not depends on the traffic but usually they are quite on time or maybe a bit late.Hum it's kinda like every half an hour on the schedule.

It actually depends on the schedule.
The attached is the latest bus schedule. Attached File  Intercampus_bus_schedule___12_Apr_2010.pdf ( 40.02k ) Number of downloads: 81

You have to always check from portals or with the student service department to get the latest bus schedule since they change quite frequently to meet students requirement...
Hope this help you =)

Haha, fortunately, NO. So far, only Hospitality and Tourism students are required to dress in formal for their classes. So, no uniforms and formal is not required. Though, there would be a few occasion where you are required to do presentation due to assignments, you might need to be formal. That really depends on the lecturer of the class, some can be really particular while other won't. So just remember to check with the lecturer.

On the other hand, not to forget that there is still a dress code in Taylor's. Do avoid slippers, shorts and sleeveless tops, it is not encouraged.
