tech evolves very fast and the best hardware may not be the best after a short while... but there is a general rule that I follow for SFF build: Small as possible while being as powerful / useful as possible

Change ur PSU to SFX and go for silverstone SG05. Only 10.8 liters in volume.

yes SG05 cant accept standard atx psu due to the size 222 mm (W) x 176 mm (H) x 276 mm (D), 10.8 liters
GTX660 should be able to fit in, max length SG05 support with 9.5" length card

Here's mine just completed today, ML07b aka the Raven RVZ01's brother.

Managed to cramp in mid range spec (Just missing GTX770 to match with Steam Machine)

Casing fan using
1 X Enermax TB silent cpu side
2 x noctua NFP12 for gpu side

Bought silverstone's flat cable as well for better cable management. 
I've read that some mobo couldnt fit certain low profile cpu cooler especially big shuriken, so need to make sure of that.

Plus:
-Compact case, well thought of the arrangement especially pcie riser for gc
-low profile look (looks like AV receiver) suitable to blend in with home theater setup
-CPU and GPU cooling are seperated. My GPU idles around 40C and CPU 38C! Not bad for such a cramped casing.
-Dust filter
Minus:
-Plastic front
-Steel casing
-ML07 does not come with case fan and dust filter unlike RVZ01! Need to fork extra for that
-Casing fan need to use silent version else it' ll be noisy.
-If you inspect closely, the build quality not that refined
-Pain in the ass to assemble but well worth it!
-limited choice for sfx psu
-power button and reset button no tactile feedback. Damn hard to press and it feels like a stucked button

Internally they are the same. Externally just the outlook are different. ML07 looks more like a sleek htpc box while RVZ01 design more towards younger audience and more curves. It depends on your taste. Other than that the rest are the same, e.g fan placement, wires.

One thing is that ML07 also missing dust filter and casing fan (you need top up to buy that)

No i didnt install slim optical drive, there is no need for me. You can opt for external dvd writer, it's cheaper.
For CPU up to you, i've seen many ppl going for i7 4770 (4 core 4 HT) and xeon e3-1230v3 (4core 4HT no IGP) but for me i5 4460 is already enough (4 Cores)
You still need to add dust filter and casing fans, that shuld be another rm100++
ST45SF-G should be enough to support gtx660 (150w) as my gtx760 (170w) used without any issues. I've seen other forums ppl used GTX780 without issues as well.

After add up all those already exceed ur 1k budget 

i5 is more than enough enough for daily tasks and gaming. Even my old c2d dual core is sufficient for me doing photoshop work but they run on ssd

for video intensive app, you need more ram. Nowadays 8gb is should be enough if you dont do very big video editing.

The ML07B will reach either end of this month or early of Sept.

Have you checked out Fractal Design's Node 304?

The smaller the box, the less air that moves around. Even if you go for liquid-cooled solution you still need to move enough air to cool down the motherboard and HDDs (if any). Raven rvz01 seems like the best fit for your needs.

Not just the RVZ01, the upcoming Lian-Li PC-Q19 should fit the bill nicely...
