Hi guys,

I'm helping my brother build a sff desktop. his requirement is that it has to be a PORTABLE desktop. you see, he sold off his laptop coz he decided in the end he want a computer that can upgrade. he doesn't like every year or so change laptop. so, I already got these:

Asus M2N68-AM Plus
7850 BE
Huntkey greenstar 550
2GB Kingston DDR2
DVD writer
ATI 4850

The above he wants to put inside a XQBOX X-CUBE.

he wants to be able to take this desktop around with him. so scenario is: home>office>starbucks(!)

Obviously, the monitor is the main problem. are there any solutions anyone can suggest? is it possible to hook up a car sun-visor LCD or other portable monitor to his desktop? a standard lcd desktop monitor is too large he says and will make it hard for him to move around. he travels outstation alot too and wants his computer with him.

thanks guys, really appreciate any suggestions you may have.

with such hardware, why ur brother wanna upgrade yearly?

no graphic card!

processor changing aint that significant "oo-aahh" feel u know

unless from Pentium 4 to Core i7

just get a lappy

coz that aint got any solution for the lcd

oh, forgot to mention using 4850, my previous post edited already.

thanks for your comments. i guess fair enough.

however, like i already mentioned, his laptop already sold off and already bought new hardware, left only the case need to buy.

worse come to worse, he will need to reorganise his lifestyle after being laptop user and now readjust to being desktop user.
having laptop AND desktop not possible due to budget. either one or the other.

personally.. i think it's impossible to have a portable desktop

c'mon, ppl think it's quite impossible to carry a conventional laptop around, hence the sprouts of netbooks..

there's a possibility, get a thermaltake lanbox with a USD399 7" LCD from thermaltake also..

but wait.. ur fren has a tight budget right? lol
no offence thou', but why didnt he think or at least do more research b4 selling the lappy?

Added on November 7, 2009, 4:17 amheck.. i'll even add in a pic for u to see..

Hi there, I've been trying to search for AOpen G326 in black but so far unsuccessfull. Most that are in stock is red in colour. too striking. prefer subdued and neutral colour. it's for my brother.

anyone here knows if, let's say, i'm unable to source a black case, is it possible to repaint the red parts to black if i end up taking the red one? i assume that the red parts that stick out is plastic. are they removable?

btw, i also opened a WTB topic in trade zone. Anyone thinkning of selling theirs can PM me. thanks

cool, will try to convince my brother.

thanks. now new project is to source samurai spray paint...

wondering if i should go for matte black to match the case panel or just go for gloss/normal to match the front...any ideas?
at least got something to tell my bro about his options. thanks

color choice will be up to u....as its ur taste....

anyway....why not consider the XQBox? imho its a better case...dont really like the fact that the G326 has the PSU jotting out the back
*
my choice, sure i would go for the XQBox. But this project is for my brother. and he is limited in his budget.

I'm currently in KK, Sabah and the cost of the XQBox plus shipping is RM300 from ngbh (!)
300 for a casing is a little steep for a budget build, my brother thinks the same. Unless got someone wanna sell theirs for cheaper...maybe...

I've got the black casing from Hikari (you can find her in TradeZone).. the ears couldn't be removed .. so you need to cut them off if you don't like it smile.gif
