ok joker leave me an sms yesterday, we talk things through, and maybe he understand why it happens. and he said he will get a razor-x from singapore. for me the case is not solve until the PSP arrive at his hands, and hopefully it will be perfect with his help on getting the razor-x. learned my lesson, keep update of people psp if its too long, about the track number i already explain its not fake, most my clients here also sometimes got the same prob, but eventually all of them got their psp back. *take note that i never meet most of these guys here* but they still back up me. and there must be a reason why right? you can ask themself. ok thats settle.
then let read some of these info's to add to our knowledge in psp. so here are how an dual nub works in PSP

The way the Analog Nub works is based on resistance. The circuit is always closed with a resistance between 15.0 ohms and 5.6k ohms for dead center when the resistance on pins 1&2 or 3&4 is raised or lowered would result in movement in a particular direction. This is why some people experience a runaway curser on some PSP’s if the faceplate does not have enough pressure or the contacts are dirty it will result in unbalanced resistance causing unexpected results in movement. An easy solution to this problem would to simple tighten the faceplate or clean the contacts..

An interesting fact is some touch screens work on the same principal as the Analog Nub so in theory one would be able to connect a Touch screen to analog inputs with few modifications and have it work. To further elaborate on the resistive touch panel here is the wiki definition:

A resistive touch panel is composed of several layers. The most important are two resistive layers separated by thin space. When some object touches this kind of touch panel, the layers are connected at certain point; the panel then electrically acts similar to two voltage dividers with connected outputs. When measuring press force, it is useful to add Resistor dependent on force in this model — between the dividers.
A resistive touch panel can be made with either four or five wires. The positions of the conductive contacts in resistive layers differ depending on how many wires are used. When four wires are used, the contacts are placed on the left, right, top, and bottom sides. When five wires are used, the contacts are placed in the corners and on one plate.

acid came out with their own razor-x. here are what the administrator of acid say. *they are very profesional people that have done alot of RnD, so most likely what they said are true.

~The RazorX adds smooth operation since there are no bubbles of solder or wires to interfere with the spring. We here at AcidMods will be working on a no hassel way of installing the RazorX in the Slim that will include a relocation of the power switch to the Start button using a digital switch as posted in one of my other videos. Keep an eye out. NOTE: This install is 100% fully functioning without any issues.

Cntrl : White LED current control pin. Use this pin to control the feedback voltage with an external DC voltage.

Fb : Output voltage feedback connection.

VOUT2 : Drain connections of the internal PMOS and NMOS FET switches (Figure 1: P1 and N2). It is recommended to connect 100nF at VOUT2 if VOUT2 is not used.

VOUT1 : Source connection of the internal PMOS FET switch and OVP sensing node. The output capacitor must be connected as close to the device as possible, between the VOUT1 pin and ground plane. Also connect the Schottky diode as close as possible to the VOUT1 pin to minimize trace resistance and EMI radiation.

Sw : Drain connection of the internal power NMOS FET switch. Minimize the metal trace length and maximize the metal trace width connected to this pin to reduce EMI radiation and trace resistance.

Pgnd : Power ground pin. Connect directly to the ground plane.

Agnd : Analog ground pin. Connect the analog ground pin directly to the Pgnd pin.

VIN : Input voltage connection pin. The CIN capacitor should be as close to the device as possible, between the VIN pin and ground plane.

En2 : Enable pin for the internal NMOS FET switch during device operation. When VEn2 is ≥ 1.4V, the internal NMOS FET switch turns off and the SUB display is turned on. The En2 pin has an internal pull down circuit, thus the internal NMOS FET switch is normally in the on state of operation with the SUB display turned off. When VEn2 is ≤ 0.3V, the internal NMOS FET switch turns on and the SUB display is turned off. If both VEn1 and VEn2 are ≤ to 0.3V the LM3503 will shutdown. If VOUT2 is not used, En2 must be floating or grounded and En1 used to enable the device.

En1 : Enable pin for the internal PMOS FET switch during device operation. When VEn1 is ≤ 0.3V, the internal PMOS FET switch turns on and the MAIN display is turned off. When VEn1 is ≥ 1.4V, the internal PMOS FET switch turns off and the MAIN display is turned on. If both VEn1 and VEn2 are ≤ 0.3V the LM3503 will shutdown. The En1 pin has an internal pull down circuit, thus the internal PMOS FET switch is normally in the on state of operation with the MAIN display turned off. If VOUT2 is not used, En2 must be grounded and En1 use to enable the device.

It is unknown if this location is used as a set of test points or if it is an unused IC location held over from a prior motherboard design. The layout for an 8 pin SMD IC suggests the latter possibility.

Glossary
ALLEGREX (part of TACHYON)
The codename for the main cpu of the PSP. Codename origin unknown.

BARYON (another Star Trek term)
The codename for the SYSCON microcontroller IC (refer to SYSCON for more information). (IC marked with “BAR xx”).

HIBARI
The codename for the PSP Slim LCD Controller IC. Means “Skylark” in Japanese.

IdStorage
A low-level storage area that holds specific configuration data and id’s for each individual PSP. A basic mapping format is used where a single NAND page is used to store a “leaf”. Each leaf is assigned a 16-bit leaf id and mapped to an index. Located in the first MB non-mapped area of the NAND Flash. 256KB is reserved on the flash to hold the IdStorage area.

IPL (Initial Program Load)
The bootstrap program that loads the firmware. Located in the first MB non-mapped area of the NAND Flash. 512KB is reserved on the flash to hold the IPL.

KIRK (part of TACHYON) (another Star Trek term)
The hardware crypto engine responsible for almost all aspects of the PSP’s security, including decryption of eboots & prx’s, savefile and adhoc encryption, and idstorage verification. Named after Captain Kirk of Star Trek.

LEPTON (another Star Trek term) *chip CXD1876*
The codename for the Mechacon UMD Controller IC. A Sony custom-made LSI which holds the optical media DSP & CPU, the ATAPI interface, 480KB DRAM read buffer, and (at least) 384KB Flash ROM for firmware.

Magpie
The codename for the PSP Fat’s WLAN firmware (bird name also used for the codename of the PSP Slim’s LCD Controller IC: “Hibari” – means Skylark).

NAND
Refers to NAND Flash. A type of non-volatile memory similar to an EEPROM which uses NAND Gate cells (as opposed to NOR Flash which uses NOR Gates). On the PSP, a single MCP IC holds both the NAND Flash and DDR SDRAM both of which are 32MB in size (on the slim PSP both are doubled to 64MB and embedded into the TACHYON main CPU IC). The NAND Flash holds the entire PSP Firmware as well as the IPL and IdStorage.

POMMEL (another Star Trek term) *chip MB44C001*
The codename for the Power Control IC. A DC-DC converter controlled by SYSCON.

PBP (PSP Boot Package)
The file extension for eboots used to launch programs under the VSH. Holds the ELF executable file as well as optional icon/background/sound files to visually display under the VSH.

PRX (PSP Relocatable Executable)
A custom relocatable ELF file used as the executable file format for PSP programs. Typically used as library modules in the PSP firmware. Similar to the IRX (IOP Relocatable Executable) or ERX (EE Relocatable Executable) of the PS2 executable formats.

PSAR (Playstation Archive)
An archiving file format used to store an image of the PSP’s firmware. Used by firmware updaters to update the PSP’s firmware.

Psjs (Playstation Javascript)
A javascript-like scripting language used to drive the XMB and its resources.

SPOCK (part of TACHYON) (another Star Trek term)
The hardware crypto engine responsible for the raw sector level decryption of UMD’s. Named after Captain Spock of Star Trek.

SYSCON (codename BARYON)
The System Control microcontroller which handles everything from, controlling power to all devices (including the LCD, UMD drive, memstick, wlan, even the main cpu), keeping the date/time, sleep mode control, controls all external switches including all buttons & the analog nub as well as the headphone remote buttons/switches, LED control, main power & battery control, and even access to the PSP’s Service Mode (SYSCON is the chip responsible for detecting the 0xFFFFFFFF serial of the battery to enable service mode).

A Sony custom-made LSI which holds the main CPU (Allegrex), the VFPU coprocessor, the Media Engine CPU & its embedded DRAM, the Graphics Engine & its embedded DRAM, the AVC decoder, the Virtual Mobile Engine DSP, the KIRK & SPOCK crypto engines, and the 4KB embedded mask ROM which holds the PreIPL and routines to boot into service mode.

Voyager (another Star Trek term)
The codename for the PSP Slim’s WLAN firmware. Named after the Starfleet vessel of Star Trek.

VSH (Visual Shell)
The main interface of the PSP, a user interface shell which provides the access to the kernel. Uses Sony’s XMB (Cross Media Bar) for its GUI.

XMB (Cross Media Bar)
The graphical component of the VSH. A script driven GUI first developed for the Sony Japanese PSX DVR (Digital Video Recorder) and also used on Sony WEGA & Bravia TV’s as well as the Sony PS3.


Circuit Schematics


The PSP TA-079 motherboard (not including sub-boards) contains 4 proprietary IC’s made by Sony itself and 7 other IC’s produced for Sony by other companies. None of the Sony produced chips have publically available datasheets and only 2-3 of the non-Sony produced chips have so far been identified as being based on known production chips with publically available datasheets. Because so much of the critical chip circuitry of the PSP is unknown (and will probably stay that way for the foreseeable future), any schematic produced by the user community is doomed to contain a great deal of omissions and errors, so use them with caution.

Honestly that just half of it...
that just understanding on how the dual nub works..
then you need to understand on how the nub works with a razor-x.
how to solder on the zif connector, in acid people rarely post pic on how to solder it..
space issue..
troubleshoot is common..
i took me some time poking with the nub to understand how the nub actually have the 'elasticity'
*most people cant understand.. and im sucx at explain things...


and the difference between slim and phat is on fat its ezier to solder, but there are no space, while slim lotsa space but very hard to solder.. the mainthing is you dunt want to mess up the ZIF connector.

thats why i bought a solder that can control the temperature.

well.. depends on how people look at it... there must be a reason sony named it PSP 'GO'?
means on the go perhaps? that's why it is smaller, slimmer and etc.. ez to carry around and stuff..
in my oppinion (yeah.. dunt listen to me... i have a dispute prob)... it isnt a 2nd generation of PSP. its just a slimmer model of PSP3k.
thats why it have smaller screen if im not mistaken. look at the position of the nub.. i think it is not comfortable to hold it..
what sony should make is wider body (so very comfortable to hold), larger screen... and for god sakes... until now sony cant make a dual nub??? hmm.gif

Most of you on Acidmods have heard of, or spoken to L0rdnic0 on AM or even had the pleasure of speaking to him on MSN. He's the originator of some of the best mods on Acidmods such as the PSP Security Mod for the Phat and the Slim and the LED and Sound Reactive LED mod for the PSP Slim. I recently Caught up to Nic0 and he agreed to do an interview with me for the new issue of Acidmag!

This is what he had to say.

Acidmag: You've come up with some great Mods for the Slim and pioneered a new group of people on AM to try modding and find a love for it. Tell me, what was your inspiration for those mods and how did it all start?

Nic0: Well, I bought a phat in Aug 2007, so I could play games with my oldest son. My buddy at work knew alot about CFW so I figured that I could learn a little from him. While trying to find my way I saw lots of videos on youtube with PSPs that had lit triggers. I thought to myself thats cool I bet I could do that.

So I fired up google and found links to AM. I would read the tuts front to back and did that for about a week. and I mean I read them all... that was about Sept, just before the release of the slim. Around the tenth of the month, Team M33 ( at the time we didn't know DAX was M33) released the pandora 3.60 hack for the slim. I said to myself, " crap I better get a slim now before sony patches and I can't get CFW on the slim" (not knowing anything about the pandora). So I got the Slim and signed up for AM.

Funny thing though, no one was modding the slim. I was waiting and waiting for a tut to be released and when none came, I said, "I guess I'm gonna do this on my own."

Acidmag: And that's what you did. What made you choose to mod the Slim?

Nic0: Well, I figured I would buy another slim incase I busted this one. So I would say that due to the fact that no one had started, means I was out to light the triggers first.

I think my first attempt was to power the triggers off the wifi led. which didn't work out to well, but I wanted blinking triggers. so I stripped the PSP to the frame and found all that nice space inside. I thought to myself, "Wow I could fit a bus in there..."

Acidmag: Yeah it is really big, So as you know, there are alot of great Modders on AM, Do you
have anyone on AM that has been a personal inspiration for you or just a great friend?

Nic0: I have lots of great friends that stand out but I would have to say that Ken and Robin are my fav friends. This my sound a bit like brown nosing but Cyber is my closest friend on AM and also my inspiration. He likes to challenge me with new ideas.

Acidmag: Aw... Me? You shouldn't have.. But in all honesty that's not really a brown nosing thing.. We all really respect Cyberpyrot.. Where do you think you would be right now if you hadn't met Cyber and joined AM?

Nic0: heheh, no where,

Acidmag: LOL! I think we all feel like that sometimes.. So what kinds of Mods do you have planned for the future? Or is that all top secret?

Nic0: Well, I have kinda been on a slow down lately. But I am still trying to perfect the Razor install in the slim for the everyday modder. I have a sure fire method right now but I'm waiting on parts. This is the type of install that would be like plug and play. Other then that I have two other mods that have not been done on a slim or phat but I'm still working out the bugs...

Modding for me has been hard too because of time. However I have been making detailed how to videos, and I hope they have been of use.

Acidmag: Yeah, the community has really been thankful for your contributions and now you are an Admin of the site! That's gotta be exciting for you.. Are you a bit excited and nervous about being in this first issue of the New Acidmag?

Nic0: Well I'm especially thankful to the community. If it weren't for AM or its members, I would have probably never started modding. As for being an admin I'm excited and at the same time I'm level headed and nervous. I guess I like to measure twice and cut once. Being new, I always go the extra mile to make sure I'm doing my job. I'm not nervous about the first issue, I'm actually honered that the editors of Acidmag would pick me. See. I dont feel all that special I guess, and that has me nervous.

Acidmag: No there's no need to be nervous. You are a respected member and that's why you got the position.. So is there anything you'd like to see brought out or featured on AM or in Acidmag in the future?

Nic0: I'm all for trying to get members on mebeam even if they dont have a cam. It's a great place to say hi to people and put a face to the name. I'm always on there whether it be from work or home or umm the car... What I would love to see, is if someone could make a mebeam type page for AM only. Maybe Acidmag could do an article on the Acidmods Mebeam page and discuss the manycam application for those that dont have a web cam. Won't help out the mac ppl though... Also a section in the next issue of Acidmag for questions and answers from the previous issue. And maybe a puzzle game too... XD Also with the mebeam thing, I rarely see new people.

Acidmag: LOL! Puzzle game huh? Well, we'll see what can be done about that.. I have one more question.

Nic0: Okay, then I gotta get to bed, I need sleep.

Acidmag: Is there anything you would like to say to the Members of AM, or the possible members and modders yet to come?

Nic0: Don't be afraid of the search button but when in doubt ask a question. Also, alot of people I talk to are so afraid of modding because they think that they will break their (insert console here). You always take a risk of breaking yes but look past that and think about how you will feel when you accomplish what it is you set out to do. Even experienced modders break stuff but the rewards are always worth the risk.

AFAIK, there are no problem with doing an LED mods in PSP GO, if im not mistaken the LnR buttons on PSP GO is also transparent right?
as long its uses a speaker and have a power source (5v or 3.6v) it can be modded.
as keep in mind smaller consoles doesnt mean it have small space. takes psp1k and psp2k as an example. psp2k have more space then psp1k.
why?
coz new product on markets uses compact and small mobos, the manufacture also wanna cut cost in building it= means the manufacture will use less components.

new stuff? last night the k2000 led was working well.. manage to get it running at 3am in the morning smile.gif
