Hey guys, I just got my offer letter from mmu today to study deg in Tele Comm Eng. There're a few things I'd like to ask,

1) in the offer letter it is stated that I need to have a min requirement of band 3 for MUET within one year from the date of registration (this year, 7th June). Does it mean I have to take the MUET privately? I used my GCE 1119 to apply, is it still valid/recognised? Can I just tell them that I have sufficient requirement with my 1119?

2) During the orientation, is it compulsory to be smartly dressed as in collared shirt with slacks for guys? Is it also part of the class dress code? Or is it casual everyday for classes? ( I'm sorry to ask bout this) bcos they sure did emphasize alot on the formal dressing for the orientation.

Also, is there anyone out there who's got the same course as me? smile.gif

1) MUET is different well they require that, Like me i just completed mine and waiting for results. Took MUET privately.

2) Well better to keep a pair of slacks and track pants for orientation.I dont think i might be going also coz i did my diploma there 3 years back. Anyways, to class its not like sch, casual. I used to wear even slippers in diploma. smile.gif Well i guess you got offered in cyber right?
*
I got offered in Melaka actually.

QUOTE(PikachuPikachu @ May 16 2009, 03:07 PM)
1. not necessary within 1 year.. as long as u submit it b4 graduation.. 1119 is invalid.. can take it privately or follow the university fellow.. the uni will open for application once in a blue moon..  tongue.gif

2. duno.. din attend orientation..  hmm.gif
accredited by MQA aka LAN...

Isnt it compulsory?

Forgive my ignorance, when I went to enquire bout Aussie uni's in general most of them accept 1119 results. So, I assumed that most Malaysian private Uni's are okay with it. But yeah fruitie, point taken. MUET= Malaysian University English Test

Bring cash. Cash is all you ever need.

Hehehe kidding.

Bring your clothes, formal and casual ones.
Stationeries, paper and your study bag.
Your laptop.. your essential gadgets, ipod, psp, cellphones and etc
A pail maybe to do your laundry.
Shoes, formal leather ones, sports, casuals and etc.

For Malacca campus, please forget about in-campus accommodation, you will regret. Any off-campus accommodation is better than it.

Are u from melaka? Are you willing to keep me? plssssssss sad.gif

I think you should come to Malacca to find for accommodation. smile.gif
For first year in Malacca, I suggest you to take up apartments first because it helps you to adapt to the environment and etc.
I'm staying at Ixora, Google for it. smile.gif
No, I can't keep you because I'm a female plus I'm leaving Malacca in two weeks time. tongue.gif
*
Is there a male-female segregation for the Ixora apartments? Say from your experience, have you stayed in the campus before? Which one would be a long term cost saving option?

The houses off campus like Taman Kerjasama, bunga raya... The rent are quite cheap. One room is about RM200 and can have 2 people..

Since I dont know anyone yet ( I dont have any friends in Melaka) dont think I'd fancy staying with a stranger, I mean at least the chances are higher that you'll get a MMU student for a roomie at Ixora or EP right?. Maybe after a few sems.

The "stranger" will still be MMU student cox this 2 taman, MMU students are the one who stay there. But fruitie have made a point and u yourself have made one.. Security and comfort... Guess you will have to choose EP or Ixora then...

Haha yeah, thanks biggrin.gif

How do you get caught sneaking in somebody? Say if you successfully managed to sneak someone up ur room and hide a few days? The guards patrol around?

I was thinking of Ixora

QUOTE(fruitie @ May 19 2009, 12:07 AM)
Nothing will happen if nobody reports and if you guys don't go out from Ixora. Else, how are you going out with just an access card? laugh.gif
*
So can your friend use your access card and move around without alarming the guards while you lay low in ur unit? Or is there a hi tech uploaded pic of u into the card's chip?

I'm only attracted by the facilities they provide, but hearing the strict ruling kills abit of the fun sad.gif i guess everything comes with a lil bit of price.

Anyway, freshies you better make your choices fast. Better make a trip down to Malacca to look for accommodations.

As for you, yogamaster, can you please wait till your suspension is over, gavinfernando?
*
Would it be too late to book a week before orientation? I sent an email to them for reservations but looks like they havnt replied. Havnt got time to call yet until the weekend cos busy working. Dont think so got time to go down melaka and look for accomodations elsewhere

guys, no need to wear "too formal". jeans and t-shirt will do.
The committees will make a little noise, then thats all. you can wear whatever you want.
*
No disrespect to the seniors but the letter of offer clearly states the dress codes bout being formal for registration day and something bout no jeans. Might sound like a goody two shoes here tongue.gif but shouldn't we be aware of these? Do they really let u off the hook? Or has the committee style changed? rolleyes.gif
