Hi jialat, i am about to buy contact lenses, not sure which 1 of these 3 is better recommendation. this is my power

L : Sph -1.75 , Cyl -1.75
R : Sph -1.75 , Cyl -2.25

1) Bausch and Lomb Rm 200 (got 7 pairs for 7 months)
2) Bioclear toric Rm 240 (got 7 pairs for 7 months but the optician told me this brand has UV protection and HD vision)
3) I forgot what is the brand of this, but it can enlarge pupils, with astig also. Rm200 3 pairs for 3 months

I am thinking of buying the 3rd one but it says this is new 1, so i not sure if it is good to eyes or not. Which do u think is a better choice? Btw, i have not bought a contact lenses before.

what's the most comfortable contact lens for astigmatism+myopia

My power (something around there, last checked 6 months ago)
L : -175 175
R : -150 225

I have been using Bioclear Toric ( my first contact lens ever) and I have to say that it is very comfortable, couldn't feel anything when i was wearing it, but there is some problem with the Right contact lens. It is always blurrer than it supposed to, it feels like there is no astigmatism power in it. And the vertical mark of the Right contact lenses is not visible, i hardly locate it. The R contact lenses power is exactly the same as my spec and there is no this problem when i wore spec. I bought for 6 pairs(6 months) and only the 2nd one isn't like that if i am not wrong. I think it is the problem of manufacturing or what. So the optometrist gave me another pair of bousch and lomb sample. Yes, this one is clear for both of my eyes, but then it doesn't feel as comfortable as Bioclear toric as I can feel something is in my eyes.

So is there any other contact lenses u would recommend to me? Thanks smile.gif

And also what actually was wrong with my Bioclear Toric contact lenses? the first optometrist told me he never encountered this problem, the 2nd one told me the axis could be wrong. And somemore if i wore the bioclear toric contact lenses for over 6 or 7 hours, then my right eye will become clear again, as clear as my left eye

You can try air optix toric, biofinity toric and oasys toric. These are better quality toric lens but comfort is very subjective. Many different feedbacks from customer but they have the least complaints so far.

Your right eye case is definitely a weird 1, i cant think of any possible cause too.

okay thanks. a shop selling air optix toric for RM200 (3 pairs + free 1 pair). Is the price reasonable?

Any good contact lenses to recommend for astigmatism and short-sightedness?

My eyes get red easily if i wear contact lenses. And it is very red after taking out my contact lenses. I have stopped wearing contact lenses for 2 months+ and sometimes my eyes would still be red at the same spot. I think it is subconjunctival hemorrhage.

My eye size is 8.3 if i am not wrong. I have tried Air Optix monthly but I still have the same redness. When i first open air optix lens the contacts are hard, but after using 2 or 3 times the lens become softer. May i know is it because I rub it too strongly?

Do you recommend daily or monthly or biweekly for my case?

If wearing contact lens can caused you subconjunctival hemorrhage, then its very very serious problem because I have never encounter it before after so many years working in hospital eye clinic. please snap a picture of your red eye to show here before coming to a final diagnosis.
*
so here it is

https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hpho...485433175_n.jpg

This is the picture taken now. It is not so red seen from the picture. But especially at night it could be a lot worse. I can feel the pain sometimes. And the weird thing is it is almost always at that same spot which is my right eye and it is near my nose that area.

2 weeks ago it was as usual with this redness at the same spot. Then it suddenly became very serious where my whole left eye is very red and pain. Right eye is red but exactly that same spot. And I could feel the pain. Then I went to optometrist. He told me it is inflammation and I am sensitive. So he gave me 1 lotemax and 1 paraday which are steroid. When i first used I can see side effect like very dry eye after using(which my right eye normally experiences too). This stuff really work and my painness reduced and red eye faded day by day too. Once it became good then i stopped and 3 days after that i went back to optometrist to get my eyes checked and he said okay no problem already. Then that same night i had this serious redness in my right eye but different spot which is away from nose. 2 days after that it feels better. Then now my redness is at this same spot which i showed u in picture. That steroid really helps i think but once i stop my problem came back again.

By the way, I have eye floaters since I was 7, and now I am 21 and i see a lot more floaters few months ago when i experienced very redness in the eyes due to contact lenses i guess. Optometrist advise me to just ignore floaters but they are a lot and even when I am bathing I still can see it since my walls are white and bright, I can't enjoy clear blue skies and beach the same way again.

I also have this vision problem called 'visual snow' where everything i see is like TV static 24/7. Many people have never heard of this term. You can google it to see the image. I had them since young. When I was 2 i fell from yao lan and my head hit the floor. And right after the impact it blocked 90% of my vision and I hardly see my mom. But then I was 2 that time I not sure everything I write is what I have experienced but I am certain it is. Afterwards the visual snow reduced but I still can see them 24/7. And it is very obvious at night in dark room. Even when I close my eyes I still see them.

I wonder these 2 vision problems have to do with my nerve and it causes redness in my eyes all the time? Btw, I had my IOP checked and it is normal which is 15 mm Hg.

The picture is not so clear but looking at the site where the redness is, it seems like pterygium. Look closely into mirror and if u see an extra gel like membrane growth with vessels on it, google for more image and compare. Pterygium turns red even without lens wear, more so if lens is rubbing against it. But its easy to pick up by any optometrist, and steriod eyedrop is not for long term usage. Iop is ok but need to monitor your crystalline lens health if continue on steriod. May i know which country u living in and hows the night weather there? Or u live in air cond room all time? Any eye rubbing?

From the picture, its not subconjunctival hemorrhage.
*
I am staying in KL now. I don't stay in aircond room. Just normal fan on ceiling. I rubbed my eyes when I was kid but not anymore. Btw I have stopped steroid entirely already.

I guess my optometrist didn't notice this pterygium is because that time my whole eyes were very red when I visited him. When I have this normal pterygium I didn't go to optometrist. But in fact what worries me most is this pterygium because I have them from time to time.

And even if my eyes are perfect which mean when they are really white and not noticeable by anyone. I can see slight redness at that area covering around the Iris. It is like a curved C shape covering one third of my iris.

Is there a way to cure this? Does Cendo eye lotion work? From wikipedia it says it might feel like there is foreign body sensation. Yeah true. And it also says this could be caused by UV sunlight. Few months ago, the neighbor opposite my house from like 20 meter away at night shoot a green laser towards me and it hit my eye for awhile. I forgot whether I was wearing contact lens that time or not. Do you think it is caused by that green laser?

its obvious that optometrist sucks! how on earth an optom can missed it!

anyway, pterygium does not appear red at all times, only when u rub or when eyes are dry.

green laser doesnt caused it.

any artificial eyedrops will help keep it moist and less red, no need lotion.

lastly for your eye sake, please see a qualified optometrist or those have been trained clinically, not those in optical chain stores that only know selling glasses and simply prescribe med for your eyes.
*
true. my optometrist only think about money and from the way he talks I can see he is arrogant. I have spent more than RM300 on him...

Is this cendo eye lotion = artificial eyedrops? If not, where can I get one? pharmacy?

yes its artificial drops, but not the best in market. u should try optive UD or systane ultra. pharmacy sells them. systane ultra more expensive but no better than optive UD.
*
ok thanks. what is the estimated price for optive UD?

does that mean with pterygium I can't wear contact lenses anymore?

please change the place you get the lenses from

wrong lens, wrong power

dry eyes not suitable to use daily lens which has high water content to draw more tears from your eyes

eyes feel strained and tired, means wrong power
*
I have dry eyes as well, does that mean I am not suitable for Acuvue Moist Daily with astigmatism? I thought Moist is supposed to provide water to your eyes instead of drawing more tears from your eyes

I am thinking either to buy daily Acuvue Oasys or Moist with astigmatism

*
Thanks, but I rarely wear so I prefer daily lens. And no need to clean and can throw away at the end of the day

Latest I have tried and feel comfortable one is acuvue oasys daily for astigmatism. U should try this if u want the best.
*
I agree with this. Just tried Acuvue Oasys 1-day Astigmatism and so far it is the most comfortable one!
I used to have dry eyes and red eyes few years ago when trying different brand last time, but have no issue with this Acuvue Oasys 1-day.

Anyway I have a question..

My optometrist recommended this prescription for my contact lens.
Here are my RX of glasses and contact lens.

Current glasses prescription
............ SPH CYL AXIS
R (OD) -1.25 -2.25 175
L (OS) -1.75 -2.00 5

Contact lens Prescription
............ SPH CYL AXIS BC S
R (OD) -1.25 -1.25 180 8.5 14.3
L (OS) -1.25 -1.25 180 8.5 14.3

I see huge difference (-0.5) between the RX of my glasses and contact lens but for my right eye it remains the same. For astigmatism, both also have huge RX difference.

Is it normal?

Optometrist said my R eye has got slightly worsen myopia while L eye has got slightly worsen astigmatism, but I can choose to continue using my current lens as

hi, if follow your Current glasses prescription then contact lens power should be
............ SPH CYL AXIS
R (OD) -1.25 -2.25 180
L (OS) -1.75 -1.75 180

Not sure why your contact lens power dropped so much from glasses power, right u can consider -1.25/ -1.75 X 180 also but dropping astig correction to 1.25 is a bit too much.
*
Thanks. I will ask her again soon.

She said contact lens power is normally weaker than glasses because it sits directly infront of eyes, while glasses have like distance (1cm+) between eyes and glasses.

Yes, it’s applicable for higher power, for example above -4.00.

Otherwise its too minor to warrant a drop in power.

If she insists to give u her calculated power contact lens, then u get 1 pair of what i counted for you and u compare the vision clarity between them to check.
*
>Yes, it’s applicable for higher power, for example above -4.00.
>>Yes. this is what I read online as well.

I already bought the prescription as prescribed by my optometrist (1-day Acuvue Oasys with Astig) and will try it tomorrow and see how.

If it isn't clear then will try the prescription given by you.

Anyway, wearing wrong prescrption of contact lens won't damage the eyes right?

hi, wearing lower power will blur your vision, might cause headache if long term.

Thanks.

Just to give you an update. I tried the contact lens RX given by my optometrist and I feel that it is clear. Wearing the 1 day Acuvue Oasys with Astigmatism for 13 hours also no problem. I would say the clarity is like 95% of my glasses vision.

Will finish this box then see how again
