Thanks jialat for all your useful advice. My question is: Which is better for eye health in the long run, contact lenses or spectacles? I've been wearing contact lenses for the past 7 years and most of the time more comfortable than not. I very seldom wear specs out. But which is actually healthier since I spend most of my waking hours in front of the computer?

Hi jialat,
Need your advice. I'm wearing monthly disposable lenses but I don't wear it everyday because I tend to wear glasses about 3-4 times a week. Can I dispose off the lenses after the 28th wear or must I throw it after 28 days of opening it?

QUOTE(jialat @ May 19 2010, 11:57 PM) hi, its best to dispose the lens after max 1.5 months whether u wear it frequently or not, because soaking a lens in solution for a long time will end up having deposit tat block those small holes on lens which is the passage of oxygen. thanks Noted..thanks. Also, I'm using Ultrasonic Lens cleaner (contact lens cleaner machine) to clean my lenses after every wear. Is this actually good?

QUOTE(jialat @ May 21 2010, 12:42 AM) nope, its crap. clean and rub the lens using ur finger is still the best method. thanks Oh ok ok. But since using the lens cleaner, I do not have any problems with 'blurred' vision when wearing which happens quite often and I'll need to blink and blink to get comfortable again. Any negatives with the lens cleaner?

QUOTE(jialat @ May 21 2010, 11:43 PM) its less thoroughly clean if compared to cleaning by finger rubbing. this is the conclusion i read from a research paper checking out the efficiency comparing finger rubbing with lens cleaner machine. the result is statistically significant. Thanks jialat for the info..must be that I never used to clean the lens properly with my fingers since the machine seems to be doing a better job than me

Hi jialat, I am currently using Proclear Toric monthly disposable lenses because I have poor vision + astigmatism. I usually wear glasses on weekdays and contact lenses on weekends, so maybe at most wear contact lenses about 3 days a week. Do you think I should switch to daily disposable lenses instead, since I don't wear contact lenses everyday? If yes, can you recommend any daily disposable lenses for me? Also, if I stick to monthly lenses, any to recommend or should I stick to my Proclear Toric? I have been using this for more than 10 years now, so thinking if got better ones to try? Thank you

QUOTE(jialat @ May 2 2019, 11:06 AM) Hi, u should consider daily toric lens instead of monthly to reduce wastage and risk of infection. I recommend acuvue moist daily toric, good and comfortable. If u plan to stick to monthly, then try biofinity toric lens which is much better than proclear toric. Hi jialat, care to elaborate on the 'risk of infection' part? With the Acuvue Moist Daily Toric that you recommended, do you mean Acuvue Moist for Astigmatism? (see link) https://www.clearly.com.au/1-day-acuvue-moi...iew=1&listPos=9Thanks and appreciate your advice, jialat! This post has been edited by Oriental: May 3 2019, 07:21 AM

QUOTE(jialat @ May 3 2019, 09:25 AM) Monthly lens is easier to be contaminated if u dont clean it regularly and keeping them soaking in same solution for days without changing the cleaning solution. Yes acuvue moist for astigmatism is what u need. Thanks jialat, I will take your advice and order this daily lenses to try!
