Ic, pls make sure the freshlook u got is the authentic lens, there are a lot of fake freshlook in the market.

Bring ur lens back to where u bought and ask for a slit lamp examination to check ur ocular health. Thanks

Hi,

Question on the extended wear types.
Which brand/type offers the longest wear time i.e. without having to remove the contacts?
For e.g. I read online the Acuvue Oasys can be use bi-weekly if removed everyday, or for 6 consecutive nights. But the shop salesman says never heard of it and must take out everyday. Did I read wrongly or is the focus night and day really can be worn for a whole month without taking off? Are they recommended?
My work requires looking at computers all day long. I'm looking for long term replacement for my glasses. Not careful type thus prefer those requiring minimal care. I'm not really keen on dailies as I feel 8 hours per day is too limited for me.

Also, I have between -0.50 and -0.75 astig with one eye. At what level of astig will toric lens provide tangible vision improvements?

Thanks!

The longest wearing lens got to be Night & day, 30 days & night without the need of taking it out as claim by ciba. I dont recommend it, always rest ur eyes if possible. U can try acuvue trueye, which is silicone hydrogel daily lens, can wear for long hours everyday but again i dont recommend that.

Toric lens lowest astig power correction is -0.75. If lesser than tat, use non-toric lens will do. Thanks

Ok thanks. I was hoping people actually starts wearing them for days though, not hours. Longest I've tried is just little more than 24 hours. Much more comfortable than glasses for sure.

Hi jialat,
Mind answering some questions for me? I'm looking for contact lens as replacement for my glasses. Any idea which kind/brand is good for me?

I had tried acuvue daily 3 years ago, and wore them like 3 times only. It was hard work putting those soft lens on my eye. Took about one hour per eye, so I gave up. I'm just afraid of sticking something onto my eyes, so tht's one major concern. Are soft lens better than hard ones for my case?

Also, i have a slight astig in my left eye. And I look into computer screens for long hours everyday for work. I don't mind paying more, I just want a lens that is suitable for a first timer. Thanks!

Frankly, if u afraid to put the lens onto ur eyes then u are not a suitable contact lens candidate.

Hard lens is much better than soft lens but its not comfortable. Thanks

hi, softlens 38 is much softer and thinner than softlens 59, thus it difficult to handle esp for new user.

they are made of different material and the number indicates their water content.

if u have dry eyes, pls use softlens 38, can wear longer hours.

if normal eyes, then u can use softlens 59. thanks

ic, i guess u have to bring them back to the place u bought to have the power checked.

otherwise, just trial and error, putting the lens in and check how clear u can see. if its blur, then most likely its for the other eye. thanks and good luck.

Hi jialat bro. I'm new to cons and I'm interested to wear it during sports and hanging out because cons tend to enlarge our eyes a little and make us looks better right? My eyes are quite small. If I want the type that make me looks better and doesn't hurt my eyes 1+comfortable, what should I do? Please guide me cause I'm really a newbie. Thank you very much.

hi bro, u got the concept all wrong. contact lens wont make ur eyes look bigger, they stay the same size as u remove ur glasses. ur eyes look smaller due to minification effect of ur short-sighted power lens.

if u want to wear lens for sport, then i recommend daily lens.

if u want to wear lens to have a big black eyes look, then i recommend freshkon alluring eyes, they make ur eyes look like barbie dolls eye.

if u have small eyes, u will need to learn how to insert it, need to practice and have some1 to guide u. if u have no 1 to guide u, then better get the 1st pair from shop 1st, they will teach u for free. thanks

Hi, u should go to optometrist shop to get contact lens, not any optical shop. As mentioned in the star newspaper yesterday, ask for optometrist and make sure they have a green or pink certificate, otherwise they are not qualified practitioner and not professional in contact lens. Guardian and watson dont sell lens, they sell contact lens solution only. Thanks

Thanks. Could you recommend some shops around KL area(times square/sungei wang/pavilion KL there)? So when I go in the shop I have to ask "do you have a green/pink certificate?" And roughly what's the price for the lens? Thank you very much.
