hey guys,

im trying to update the firmware from v11 to v20 using the option thru PC.

managed to get to the updating software screen then the tube auto off n shortly after it says that nokia software updater has lost communication to the device.

is this normal? just keep on pressing retry? everytime i press retry i can see the remaining time reduced by 1 min each time.

problem solved. must connect the USB directly to the com's USB hub instead of the secondary USB in front of the PC ones. not enough power to transfer data.

i'm planning to get my tube this sat. was wondering when the phone is sold to me, would the firmware be in v11 or v20??

i'm planning to buy from atlantis... if it's in v11, that means i have to update the v20 via nemesis? anyone know why nokia took down the update?

Extracted from Page 1 Q&A

How to Soft / Hard Reset my Nokia 5800 XM?
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
To Soft Reset - ONLY RESET ALL SETTING TO DEFAULT (FACTORY SETTING)

*#7370# You need your lock code for this by default it is 12345

To Hard Reset - ERASE EVERY DATA FOUND IN YOUR PHONE EXCEPT MEMORY CARD

hard reset finally available on our 5800 with the latest v20 firmware
just press and hold green call button + red end button + camera shutter button and switch on the phone from off state and wait until the nokia logo comes out. (Tested By Aspire on V20)

7780 - resetting all custom settings
- Settings = all your theme, ringtone etc etc will be reset to factory settings
- Data = msg, calendar and contact will be intact

7370 - reformat the phone
- Everything will be gone
- Phone will be like the day you just got your phone = factory settings + no DATA

3 buttons reset = 7370
- Everything will be gone
- Normally people use this when u cannot input the codes above eg. stuck at nokia screen during boot up ..

Another thing is u can achieve 7780 end result by going setting --> phone --> phone mgmt --> factory settings

when connecting pc to phone, use the USB behind ur desktop..not the front one. I've personally experienced frequent disconnect while updating my firmware previously. after i switched to the rear USB port, no problem at all. reason being the front one doesnt have enuff power to support.
