Anyone here tried using a 16Gb Micro SDHC for the tube yet? Does it work well with one another?

and another quick question.. anyone here tried using class 6 SDHC? is it really noticeably faster?

connect your tube to the computer and select 'Mass storage' on your phone.
go to My Computer and right click the Removable disk which is your memory card and then select format.
*
From the phone itself can format

Apps > File Manager > Memory Card > Memory Card Options > Format

Come come those of you whom haven't bought the tube yet, let me poison you...

Who says that the camera quality on the Nokia 5800 sucks?

user posted image
I just love to take macro shots with the tube <3

user posted image
This shot not enough lighting but you can see how sharp it captures the details

user posted image
Look at the dust.. haha thats how sharp the camera is.

user posted image
The white balance of this picture seems a bit off.... oh well nvm

user posted image
Master Chief reporting for duty!! Yes, the tube has an excellent auto focus feature.

user posted image
I'm not very good with outdoor lighting yet but here's a try. Well thats not my car but I was asked to drive it from the showroom to somewhere... damn seriously syiok to drive a latio. drool.gif

and YES.. ALL taken on the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music. No photoshop work on the photos except to resize the images (all taken at 3mp)..

actually the camera can take good shots.. all you need is to know how to control the settings blush.gif

@ tachlio

Actually the technique is very simple.

1) MOST IMPORTANT. Set your ISO to low. If you set it to auto confirm got lots of noise. Auto ISO should only be used when there is low lighting.

2) Golden Rule of Photography - Always have enough light. Always.

3) Set the correct scene mode. The tube has several scene modes and each of them gives special advantages depending on what type of shot you are doing. My macro shots were taken using the 'Close Up' feature.

4) Press half way and ALWAYS wait till the camera focus (the reticule turns green). The phone will also beep when it turns green.

5) Steady Hands. The camera button for the tube is a bit plastic-ish. The button tactile response is not that good so a lot of times after pressing half way then wanna press to shoot, the camera will shake. So you have to train your finger la laugh.gif

Another trick you can do with the tube.

COLOR TONE <--- w00t

Normally phones have black & white / negative / sephia

The tube has one extra one which is called Vivid. Wanna see what vivid does?

user posted image
Look at how colourful the objects become. Take note, the items are not actually that bright in colour but with the vivid mode turned on, the colours are even more enhanced!

This technique can be used to take lomo style photos brows.gif

haha yeah that is what it is supposed to do... make the colours vivid!

but actually this mode is only to take artistic type of photos la. not really practical to take normal photos.

What is a plectrum?  smile.gif

Btw I went to Low Yat and Sg Wang today to play around with the 5800 and also the Omnia & iPhone. Besides the UI and design of the iPhone, its crap, no offence to the Apple fans. The Omnia has more 'functions' but the price is too steep compared to the 5800. Therefore, the 5800 is definitely more value-for-money without a doubt.

I'm beginning to like the 5800 very much. Spent 30 minutes at the Nokia shop playing with it  tongue.gif
For original set the lowest offer I got is RM1,320. Anyone got a better bargain to recommend?
Im also trying to sell off my n95 first. Trying to get rid of it for RM700-800.

Also, i enquired about the BH-503 headset at the Nokia shop, they selling it for RM499  rclxub.gif
*
It looks like a guitar pick that is given with the phone. Actually it is used as a stylus.

The cheapest I found in lowyat is RM1280 Zitron set but it is only for blue colour.

btw ur doing the right thing by not doing ur 'magic' because I feel we are really taking away their rezeki. After all, we ourselves found the 'alternative' by ourself so we are responsible for our own actions. Uncle Google is always the best place to ask.

Btw reference for those who want to knw

Garmin Mobile XT = USD$99.90
Garmin Malaysia/Singapore City Navigator NT Map = USD129.90 (But we usually urge people to use the free maps of MFM or MSM)

To be honest, I am now a map collector tongue.gif
I managed to find all the Garmin official Malaysia maps rclxm9.gif

Let try collect every single country in the world. haha would be cool if someone want to travel else where.

How up to date is that Garmin Malaysia/Singapore City Navigator NT Map = USD129.90  ?
*
The map is not up to date. My house is not in the map at all... but there is one version quite good. The South East Asia City Navigator NT this combines all countries in SEA and it includes Thailand so those driving up north can use that but that map is even more expensive.

Download!

Maybe some of you might need it... I dunno.

The official maps are probably outsourced to malaysians to make. And prob to those involved in mfm. So at the end of the day mfm is the way to go cause its done locally, updated frequently and is free. I am not a mfm spokesperson, just love their maps
*
I love their maps too..

I have tried

MFM v1.46
MSM v2.30b gold
Garmin Malaysia/Singapore City Navigator NT

MFM still the more updated one thumbup.gif

Hey,
However has had the light leakage problem and taken their phone to ncc? What do they do? Just tighten the screws? I might go on mon cause have the day off. Worth going? Aspire. . What do you think?
*
Bro how bad is the light leakage? Actually if under the light you don't see it, that is not light leak. Yes in pitch black dark we can see the light leak but the real people who face light leak can see it even in broad daylight. Is yours that bad?

user posted image

Btw I have mentioned this before in the previous thread. The gap there is actually for heat ventilation that is why u see the light leak. If it is tight shut your phone is gonna heat up like a hot air baloon

When u ask them to fix light leakage they won't replace you a cover. What they do is tighten the screw that holds the cover then making the gap smaller. Actually the hole there is meant for the media button's light to disperse heat. If u look carefully in it, u will see the gap is just for the media button part. If they can seal it out they already did that in production

wow....Nokia really left the upper right hand corner part of the phone a tiny gap for ventilation ?  shocking.gif

U look carefully in the gap u will see the hole is nicely cut just for the xpressmusic media button. The size is too precise for it to be a mistake

Guys I just found this out. If u tap the part of your screen in between your battery and your operator logo, it will prompt 2 things. Got these cross arrows and the time. You click the cross arrows u will be brought to 'Connectivity' and you can turn on stuff like your bluetooth and wifi. Kinda cool shortcut

Although it would be cooler if the UTMS/GSM switch can be done through a program, like BTSwitch... Highlighted this over at Symbian-Freaks but nobody really knew how (or was interested to code something of the sort)... sweat.gif

Oh well, am sticking to EDGE data while in Mobile (read: casual walking around surfing = most of the time) mode anyway, only switch to 3G if it's really important that I have the speed (aka, watching FRANCE24 free streaming TV, crap cool!)... sweat.gif

EDGE seems speedy enough for me and keeps the battery from dying TOO quickly... biggrin.gif
*
If I just use EDGE 2G I will still be able to receive my MMS right? What about video calls? If I disable 3G will people still be able to video call me?

QUOTE(ysksky @ Mar 22 2009, 12:44 AM)
guys do u think the 5800 camera part will easily scratched if dragged on table? anyone got scratched on that part?

The silver lining around the camera will protect the lens cos it is jutting out more
