I'm talking bout the unpaid forest parking of course..
Other Universities in malaysia that I have been, have proper parking.
They have so much free space but can't make it to good use
The paid one is fine.. I always used that when i took ALevels at Sunway in 2003 when Monash was affiliated. No problem whatsoever
By the way, which paid one r u talking about? Inside sunway college?
*
at least for help college they do not have stupid problems like "sorry all our season passes are finished"..

QUOTE(N1ck @ Jul 30 2009, 09:56 PM)
Thanks Top-Gun,
1st sem average 82.5 now, need to do abit better this sem for 50% scholarship.
I think you've got the wrong parking
From the main road, go past Monash Uni(Monash Uni on your left) and turn left at the traffic light. It's a very huge open parking lot which will cost you RM 2 per day. Not really far from the campus unless you park at the very far edge.
*
i think so.. lol... the free carpark is considered as undeveloped so thats why they didnt charge any money for it
since the benefit is free parking, one shouldnt complain.

expensive... yes, unhealthy? nah.... depends on how much you eat only

i am sure if monash charges lower rent and have better quality control this would not had happened...

i bid to manage the canteen last time... i got 2 partners, ming tien from mayang jaya and the one from ss15...

but no, the stupid manager at monash told me the tender time is up when it was not... she looked down on me just because i was a student... ended up managed by all these small vendors that can hardly provide proper food

good example of satisfactory management was sunway canteen last time... dont know the state of it now

Sunway Canteen still sells bad food. If you are to compare Monash's one with Sunway Uni's one, there aren't much of a difference except Monash's cafeteria looks better. Besides, there is Don Don Sushi now and they aren't half bad. Japanese food has always been around that price anyway.
Now that you mention it, I wonder why.  hmm.gif

By the way, I can't believe you took the pics. I laughed my ass off.  rclxms.gif

It's just that most of the students do not know how to answer a real economics question and Alvin being horrendously strict is one of the reasons to why many people fail as well.
Tell that to Dr. Nicole. She will be really happy. I can tell her for you if you want since I am rather close with her. biggrin.gif
To be honest, this semester's Commercial Banking paper is one of the easiest in Monash history. We are expecting a pretty high passing rate this semester.
It isn't hard if you grasp the concept. Besides, everything is very easy. If you find Money and Capital Markets easy, you are bound to find this a lot easier.
I'd like to tell you that you are the first student I have ever heard that Business Law is actually fun, considering the rather high failing rate that we have. You see, the key to an open book exam is to have your notes (summarized) as well as tags to enable you to reach to the part you want quickly wasting little to no time. The reason why the failing rate is one of the highest among the Year 1 subjects is because students tend to take it too lightly as it is an open book exam, treating it rather lightly which in reality, the structure, concept as well as understanding plays a huge role in getting an HD or at least a P in this subject.
This is because most of the year 1 subjects are to build your fundamentals before entering into year 2. Similarly, Financial Accounting, a year 1 subject is to build the fundamentals of those who are not from the Commerce or Art Stream before entering into a harder part of accounting, like Company Reporting and Audit Assurance. 90% of the things they are teaching in Money and Capital Markets are pretty much general knowledge and you should know it if you keep up with the financial world and news except some of the key terms. It's when you enter year 2 and year 3 when everything looks totally new to you. Either I am getting this wrong that, you aren't learning anything because you know everything already or you aren't learning anything due to the lecturer's quality, which I doubt is the one because as far as I know, Dr. Nicole is one of the highly rated lecturer in the university.
*
In my batch and my senior's batches of 2008 we found biz law interesting. I would say although its open book you still need some idea on how you gonna write out the answer, its normally a rojak answer a bit of this and a bit of that from all the model answers floating around. So you might wanna do some tuning on how your model answers are laid out, try to group agency cases together, contract ones together etc. I got a D for biz law. Preparing a summary of cases covered by the lec (ie. a cheat sheet) will be very beneficial as you will be familiar with the main cases, but adding in the side-dishes may score extra marks.

Also, running out of time is not an excuse. There are cheap ways to eliminate the problem, i.e. buy faster gel pens.

Thanks for the reply! I need to know a rough description of the difficulty of overloading. I realize that it can differ greatly from one student to another, but there has got to be a yardstick I can depend on as an estimate. For these people you know, how did they find it? E.g:

-Is it possible to score 5 distinctions in a semester, provided you put in major effort? (ie. minimal leisure activities, minimum of 5 hours a day of revision). Is this only possible for *extremely* talented and intelligent students?
-Would very early preparation make the above achievable, ie hardcore revision right when the semester starts?
-How hectic is it, in regards to really score during an overload semester? Is dividing time in your life an absolutely pain?
-Effects on mental health, stamina and fatigue? tongue.gif

These are the questions I can think of at the moment. Thank you!
*
In theory it is very possible to get D in all 5 if the subjects do not involve group projects/assignments. It may be more beneficial to take a summer class instead.

islamic banking ah? wow!
so bad im not majoring finance..
islamic sounds hard for me lol..
any other suggestions?
*
1. 1st year unit.. many would say money and caps is much harder than this
2. no super math genius necessary - only one or two formulas for the whole sem.. d hiba calculation.. quite simple and straightforward
3. more on diagrams and understanding of theory (written essays) than calculations
4. i forgot to bring calculator in the exam doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif but its ok because the exam is 95% written..only half a question based on calculations
5. but its ok i got a D for it smile.gif
6. its not religion class, dun get islamophobic over the name.. its just another system to complement the jewish banking system aka conventional banking

there are others but quite challenging or they're core units.. psy1011 the basic psychology 100% objective, 100Q.. but.. u will wish it was subjective.. or the intro to management (core), then int'l business mgw2351 (not bad), intro to e-business (quite a lot of frens took but personally not my thing laugh.gif), then accounting B (if ur acc major its required), and not too sure if they still do intro to marketing mkw1120 in summer nowadays.

For accounting A, it was super popular to register a place in summer if you feel that u wont pass it on the first try (for july intake), in oct 2008, the waiting list was an A4 paper long sweat.gif

is Psychology units a good choice for elective? @@
*
Psy 1011 (psycho 1A) needs some reading (textbook + couple more would be good, as the questions are not direct) and time commitments (dun skip labs more than once without good reasons, otherwise will impact ur attendance record which is a hurdle requirement). It has a couple of classes on history (who said what, who proposed what) about the early founders of psychology though, so if u guys absolutely hate history and additional reading - may wanna reconsider

Used ones are available, but check the bookshop, sometimes new edition comes out. Primetime for used book sellers is the 2nd week of classes. Sometimes sunway college bookstore may be cheaper, so shop around.

Ah, that's too bad. You'd make a cool tutor too.  shocking.gif Did you go straight to MBA?

Also, if anyone else could tutor me on Trade Finance and Exchange and/or International Financial Management, please PM me! Or if you could introduce someone, that'd be great too! Paid, of course! smile.gif
*
trade finance was a total drag with mr kasi last time ... hahaha..summore in my time it was split into 2 sessions, both 8am..zzz
end up never go for half i think

IFM i think the main point is not to memorise how to do.. understand the concept is better as the questions trick you (its not hard) but tricky. assignment no problem for this i guess? I can help you on IFM but of course cannot guarantee HD lah. smile.gif
