I don't even know why are they boycotting it
They are boycotting it because the food is bad and expensive. It's not like I have ever ate there before though, always went out to eat.University Monash University Thread V2, Malaysia & Aus Campus

QUOTE(alaskanbunny @ Apr 24 2011, 05:36 PM) expensive... yes, unhealthy? nah.... depends on how much you eat only Sunway Canteen still sells bad food. If you are to compare Monash's one with Sunway Uni's one, there aren't much of a difference except Monash's cafeteria looks better. Besides, there is Don Don Sushi now and they aren't half bad. Japanese food has always been around that price anyway.i am sure if monash charges lower rent and have better quality control this would not had happened... i bid to manage the canteen last time... i got 2 partners, ming tien from mayang jaya and the one from ss15... but no, the stupid manager at monash told me the tender time is up when it was not... she looked down on me just because i was a student... ended up managed by all these small vendors that can hardly provide proper food good example of satisfactory management was sunway canteen last time... dont know the state of it now QUOTE(zstan @ Apr 25 2011, 01:35 AM) Expensive? I wonder why singapore can allow mcd to operate and charge their students at student price, it can't be done here. Now that you mention it, I wonder why. By the way, I can't believe you took the pics. I laughed my ass off. This post has been edited by Home Made Cookies: Apr 25 2011, 03:29 AM |

QUOTE(zstan @ Apr 25 2011, 10:30 AM) furthermore, NUS and NTU are all open to public! So if an office worker took the effort to travel to these places, they can get student prices as well! Even after conversion, it's still cheaper there! But have you actually went to NTU? It is so remote that the cost incurred for travelling there will probably be a lot more than the discount you get for student price. Then again, it is still a perk to boot. Haha, pictures are for memories. XD |

QUOTE(NightHeart @ Jun 11 2011, 07:42 PM) It's just that most of the students do not know how to answer a real economics question and Alvin being horrendously strict is one of the reasons to why many people fail as well.QUOTE(radio_head @ Jun 13 2011, 08:45 PM) its not 100 words per questions, it was 100 words the whole paper including my name and question numbers. i'd give my left nut for a C now. actually i wont, but i'll still give something pretty valuable for a C. Dr. Lai are u on LYN? we can negotiate my pass!!!!!!!!!! wash ur car for a year everyday. including interior! Tell that to Dr. Nicole. She will be really happy. I can tell her for you if you want since I am rather close with her. QUOTE(janice17 @ Jun 13 2011, 09:06 PM) haha correct, i'm already in yr 2 now. To be honest, this semester's Commercial Banking paper is one of the easiest in Monash history. We are expecting a pretty high passing rate this semester.taking commercial banking this sem. so far so good hahaha Added on June 13, 2011, 9:07 pm finished the paper already? not that bad right? hehe QUOTE(ryan18 @ Jun 13 2011, 09:14 PM) It isn't hard if you grasp the concept. Besides, everything is very easy. If you find Money and Capital Markets easy, you are bound to find this a lot easier.QUOTE(NightHeart @ Jun 14 2011, 07:45 AM) Biz Law is fun, but you gotta memorize lotsa cases. I'd like to tell you that you are the first student I have ever heard that Business Law is actually fun, considering the rather high failing rate that we have. You see, the key to an open book exam is to have your notes (summarized) as well as tags to enable you to reach to the part you want quickly wasting little to no time. The reason why the failing rate is one of the highest among the Year 1 subjects is because students tend to take it too lightly as it is an open book exam, treating it rather lightly which in reality, the structure, concept as well as understanding plays a huge role in getting an HD or at least a P in this subject.Law subjects are generally an open book subjects, so it's easy to tell who's gonna fail during the exams, just look at the ones who flip through the notes/books the most lol. The problem with law is, there's just not enough time to finish all the questions. So those who waste time flipping through their notes won't have time to do the last few questions. So it's best to memorize the cases instead, do not flip through your books during exams unless you reallyyyy have to. QUOTE(radio_head @ Jun 14 2011, 05:10 PM) intro to financial accounting, is nothing more than form5 accounts. bus law is a trap, its those subjects u miss 2 classes in a row, no need come for the whole sem cause you'll be lost anyways. This is because most of the year 1 subjects are to build your fundamentals before entering into year 2. Similarly, Financial Accounting, a year 1 subject is to build the fundamentals of those who are not from the Commerce or Art Stream before entering into a harder part of accounting, like Company Reporting and Audit Assurance. 90% of the things they are teaching in Money and Capital Markets are pretty much general knowledge and you should know it if you keep up with the financial world and news except some of the key terms. It's when you enter year 2 and year 3 when everything looks totally new to you. Either I am getting this wrong that, you aren't learning anything because you know everything already or you aren't learning anything due to the lecturer's quality, which I doubt is the one because as far as I know, Dr. Nicole is one of the highly rated lecturer in the university.after studying 1 sem of money and caps, i learned ntg bout money or capital or markets. however, i learned and mastered how to shit bricks. QUOTE(janice17 @ Jun 17 2011, 08:04 AM) i was so panic before exam, and was told by all the seniors that comm bank is not hard to score It wasn't high. Then again, when you start a new semester, it isn't right to have the mindset whereby you think you will fail based on the failing rate of the subject. See, failing rate can be misleading and I will point it out to you why it is.and none of my friend failed that unit so i assume the failing rate for past few years wasn't high also right? 1. Failing rate includes those who were absent and did not go for the examination. 2. Failing rate includes those who withdrawn from the subject at the start of the semester (even though it does not affect the grades of the student, it does affect the overall grading of the entire school. Pretty dumb system they have here.) 3. Failing rate includes those who withdrawn from the subject after the deadline. 4. Failing rate includes those who failed the assignments badly (may be due to personal reasons) and a pass in the exam still does not qualify them for a P grade. The percentage of failures aren't as high as you think, sure Law had a 40-50% failing rate but in reality it's just 30-40%. Of course it doesn't decrease a lot after what I just told you but consider subjects with 20 or 15% failing rate. Then in reality, it is just 10 to 5% failing rate. You got to consider there are students who don't really bother about their academic performance so pack yourself with confidence and study harder. Do note that there are subjects that have failing rates up to 50 60%. Beware of those subjects as many students knows the answers to the questions but fail to portray what the lecturer really want. QUOTE(ceo684 @ Jun 18 2011, 04:56 AM) In my batch and my senior's batches of 2008 we found biz law interesting. I would say although its open book you still need some idea on how you gonna write out the answer, its normally a rojak answer a bit of this and a bit of that from all the model answers floating around. So you might wanna do some tuning on how your model answers are laid out, try to group agency cases together, contract ones together etc. I got a D for biz law. Preparing a summary of cases covered by the lec (ie. a cheat sheet) will be very beneficial as you will be familiar with the main cases, but adding in the side-dishes may score extra marks. I think you quoted the wrong person. I agreed that running out of time is not an excuse and thus I provided a good solution for future Law students. I have passed Law fairly easily and I'm just giving advice to the future Law students. Also, running out of time is not an excuse. There are cheap ways to eliminate the problem, i.e. buy faster gel pens. QUOTE(janice17 @ Jun 18 2011, 05:35 PM) lol. i failed my law assignment, end up getting a distinction for final. Congratulations.super thaaaaaanks to seniors' answer |
