I am currently a student in UTeM.
you are taking a course under manufacturing faculty.
one of the different way your faculty work is,you don't have classes at just one place.
you will have classes in other faculties as well.

there are three campus in UTeM,
you will be having classes in two campus.
industrial campus and main campus.
your faculty is in the main campus.

just ask me what you wanna know because there are lots of things to tell.  biggrin.gif

is it far from one faculty to the other? and how far is the hostel to the faculty? oh mind giving me intro how the hostel lifestyle is. i mean in one room share with how many people and is it apartment like or just big hostel with lots of room and the toilets too. is it hard to remain in the hostel after my first year?

okay.
right now there are already hostel inside main campus but mainly hostels are outside main campus.
the placing are random and if you are lucky then you might get into the hostel inside main campus.
there are buses for you to go to classes for hostel outside and inside the main campus.
FKP is quite far from kolej kediaman Lestari. it will be quite tiring to walk if you live in Lestari later.

are you female or male?
the hostel are different.
our batch are the first to use Lestari and since the number of female student outnumbers male students.
they are placed in Block A which originally made for male.
in block A,rooms are in two rows facing each other per floor.
block B which is given to male students when it is originally designed for female students.
in block B,each floor have four houses and each houses have 7 room.
2 person share a room in both blocks.
for hostel outside the campus, the houses are similar to block B.

I have a good news and a bad news about hostel.
for the first two years. you will have hostel.
but on the third year, you have to live outside because the university cannot allocate enough for all the students.

if you can get your own vehicle, please bring it.
buses can be unreliable,I am not saying they are unreliable but dependence on them might cause you trouble when it fails.

if you live outside the campus, you have to wake up early. it takes about 20 to 25 minutes due to morning jam.
buses for 8am class comes as early as 6.30 and you don't wanna miss it.

im a male. so basically in one house there is 14 people but seperated room by room right? the toilet is inside the room or shared for one house? if im lucky to get hostel inside main campus, can i still ring my own car? oh so on 3rd year, no matter whether youre a top student or not, you need to move out? can i bring my own transport during orientation or should i rely on the bus and wait a bit longer before i bring my own transport? how far is the outside hostel to the main campus? still have no clue on how to imagine the environment there

can bring your own car.
yes,you can apply to live in hostel but make yourself susah only since coursemates lives outside.
iinm, you can bring your own car during the orientation but in the orientation week.
you cannot drive your own car. after that, can use it to class.
make sure to register your car at pejabat keselamatan.

here is roughly one of the usual FKP student hostel.

Kolej Kediaman Emerald Park,Bukit Beruang
there is also another one called Bunga Raya, not far from there.

here is the directions and map for your travel from hostel to class if you have hostel outside the campus

are you chinese?
well,it depends.
since majority race in IPTA are Malays, you will have to adapt to malay surrounding and how we work/learn.
there is no seniorism since everyone is adult already. if someone want to flaunt their seniority, just let your hands take a whip on his face.  laugh.gif
UTeM used to be in shoplots and those hostels are remnants of that era. haha.

is UTeM the place to study?
well,UPU is hard to get and what I can say is,just take whatever they offer you.
unless you really hate that course. one can't do something with ease if they dislike it.
is this course worth taking?
yes. manufacturing industry is booming and going strong in Malaysia.
also, what you learn is important yet there are still lots more people with the same cert.
you know what makes you gets the job?
yourself. most people worry if will they get a job.
the employer won't just give the job to the best scoring candidate.
what matters is also their personality as working life is stressful and require a lot of soft skills.
join extra-curricular activities. learn interactions, team work, have fun and also those activities under UTeM are recorded so it will be in your certs as well.  thumbup.gif

im not, but prefer to befriending chinese so could get the study aura instead of lepaking all day.
yeah, im sure i need to adapt well and avoid culture shock in melaka. as long i dont disturb the senior, they wont disturb me right. oh yeah, utem used to be just normal college.
thats what im thinking, i cant reject this offer unless i have alot of money to go for private which in this case im not.
i never heard of this course before and that is why i am afraid to take it since i dont know anything about design and their job prospect. yeah, no matter if youre 4.0 student but if you lack personality and dont know how to interact you wont get the job. you really helped me alot. i will ask you again if i have any question. thanks smile.gif

basically, what ever rules from your institution before this applies here as well.
dressing code is enforced by security guard and quite lenient because it is hard for them to get hold of students.
my hair is way too long never kantoi. wear jeans also ok.  biggrin.gif
curfew for lestari is 12 a.m,kenot go in and out.
for other hostel, can go out before 12 and can get in after 12.  biggrin.gif

wait so everyday is formal day yawn.gif. long sleever shirts with tie, slacks and black shoes?
so long hair is permitted?
lestari is inside the main campus right?
