Does anyone here main Fei Long? I tried him since yesterday.
I thought his command throw looks promising but it has so much startup the opponent can see it a mile away and can usually jab out of it out of reaction. Even the EX version. And so little range you need to be practically standing right next to them. So my usual Zangief shenenigans I thought I can use are out the window. His flame kick goes straight up with no horizontal range, so connecting it is difficult. His chicken wing kick is an ass to combo to hp, rekkas with, I can't do it most of the time. His ultra can only be comboed into from crumple state. Can't be used in juggles or anti-air. The only good moves I think he has are his rekkas and his normal pokes. Am I missing something here? I must be. How can a character modelled after someone so awesome can be so shitty to play? Any advice? There are vids out there I suppose but no good Fei Longs |

Hey Tristan. Out of curiousity. How long have you been playing Street Fighter? Your Ryu and Ken is near flawless. I can't ever get near you without paying a price

Wha--20 years? plus 6 years retirement? I've no idea street fighter was out THAT long ago!
But it sure shows though. My battles with you are always an uphill struggle, which is the way I like it. Age? Man. If you're rusty now I can't imagine what its like if you're top form. |

QUOTE(durian @ Apr 19 2009, 02:49 PM) any tips for fighting against zangief ah? Trick is to keep him away using sonicbooms. Mix the speeds and d+HP when he jumps in. A close Zangief is a dangerous Zangief. Even more so for Guile since he can't take crossups too well. And on that note, never have him knock you down.i'm being makan for breakfast lunch and dinner guile user here tho btw If he lariats through a sonicboom tag him with a f+HP if close enough. If he has EX meter watch out for his green hand and be careful sonicbooming from short to medium distances, since good Zangiefs can EX hand through your sonicbooms on reaction. Block a EX green hand (or any form of green hand) and you get a free throw. Added on April 19, 2009, 8:39 pmI'm hyped up for the DLC too. But anyone knows what they're going to do for matching everyone that has different connections? Usually in player/ranking mode you get to choose who you play, especially in regards to stability of connection. So in championship mode how? Sucks if you are forced to play laggy games. QUOTE(mikeeeee @ Apr 20 2009, 12:43 AM) yeah Poongko is damn offensive , but he just lost to Daigo 1-4 (best of 7) in World championship today ... Just seen this few minutes ago! Crossup mk>cr.lp>cl.mk>hadouken>focus cancel>>cr.hp>srk. Wow. really crazy stuffs in that match up .. so intense !! Too bad he lost all his matches. One of the most awesome matches was Daigo's Ryu vs that Dhalsim. A must watch. |

Its not wrong to stick on the defensive, it's just a playstyle. Some characters need to actually, like Dhalsim and Gouki, though characters like Sagat can go either way. Some find it boring but ironically I find these guys more fun to play with. I like finding ways of getting in and breaking their illusion of being untouchable
If you're fed up of this tactic you can use it too. Use your offensive moves at the start and put in the hurt, create a sizable health difference between you and him. Then stay your corner and wait for the timer to run. He has no choice but to come at you now. Give him a taste of his own medicine! This post has been edited by leongteng5: Apr 21 2009, 02:39 AM |

QUOTE(rawfish @ Apr 21 2009, 11:53 AM) How true. I really like how players like Kindevu, even Justin (Rufus), Joe (Viper) and needless to say, Daigo, breaks through Iyo's defense. Very good reference matches. I remember you, Leong - from Alan's name list that day in Outpost - though I don't know why you didn't stay which was a waste as you had a really good Gief, but I'm sure you had your reasons Had to rush as I had important obligations elsewhere Who won? Rawfish.. Are you the Abel that beat me that day? Those few matches were awesome.. I really wanted nothing more than to have more matches with you guys, especially when my brother said there was a good viper there that I missed that was itching to challenge me! Never mind.. there's always a next time! That Viper.. if you're out there, add me. I'll definitely challenge you later in the weekend if luck permits. QUOTE(MasterAlvin @ Apr 24 2009, 01:46 AM) damn you aiman... there's a reason i cant play charge characters lol... i have a bad sense of counting 1 and 2 and release. I think you should know about her reset trap combo if you're a Sakura player.bah i guess i'll get back to sakura. but her attacks are really shitty though. cr.lp>cr.mp>lk hurricane>lk> EX hurricane>j.lk (reset) then either move forward or stay there and attack any side with the same combo as the opponent recovers from reset. Rinse and repeat. That thing is a b**** to defend once you get hit by it. All you need to do is get lucky a few times and he's dizzy and you can do it until your opponent dies. All the sakura players I met so far know how to abuse this. But yeah other than this she hasn't got much else going for her. If you want to main someone scary without FADC shenenigans or charge moves then use zangief la. This post has been edited by leongteng5: Apr 24 2009, 03:33 AM |

Added on April 25, 2009, 3:54 pm QUOTE(Darkstalker @ Apr 25 2009, 04:51 PM) When you win a final, you go up to the next rank. wow.. thats bullcrap. For added fun, sometimes when you win a final, the game will say that it didn't conclude properly, so you have to restart that tournament all over again. SUPER FUN Next rank after E id D is it? Then if you get to A what happens from there? Then are you done with championship mode? This post has been edited by leongteng5: Apr 25 2009, 03:54 PM |

Capcom must have changed the network mode to make people connect easier too. Just now I found an opponent that has full bar connection. 5 bars.
I had to check outside to see if the sky is falling. This NEVER happened to me on my connection before. |

Wierd.. replay mode was working yesterday but now all I get was "unable to recieve replay data" foe every match..even for the ones I watched before yesterday..
That wasn't the wierd part. After I exited the ranking screen I was disconnected off PSN. Then when I try to go to Network Mode I keep on disconnecting from PSN; can't even get in to play matches. Everything will be back to normal again after I reset the PS3 (If I try to use ranking mode it will be a repeat of the above)..Anyone has a similiar experience? Hey Tristan.. keep trying. I found some 4-bars online yesterday and today. You just have to wait.. no different than ranking mode. Just that it seems a whole lot people with 1-bar connections think it's a good idea to play laggy games Added on April 26, 2009, 1:48 pm QUOTE(MasterAlvin @ Apr 26 2009, 11:26 AM) lol i was watching that this morning. Yeah. That's the ONLY match worth watching though. How did the Ryu vs Ken get all the way up there? That match wasn't that good!sick combos from the Seth player. 2 rounds of Perfects by THE BOSS in the finals. felt sorry for the Gen player. i spent 99 votes for the seth combos lol the best way to appreciate your opponent's costume that you cant buy, is to beat him up while he's wearing it =P All the alternative costumes are awesome, except the ones that are tattered and torn, dunno what's the point of that. The best ones are the chick ones. Especially Cammy. Hmm..Isn't her ass cold? This post has been edited by leongteng5: Apr 26 2009, 01:48 PM |

QUOTE(hatred___ @ Apr 28 2009, 10:12 AM) Added on April 28, 2009, 9:13 am I speak Japanese. It's OYACHI. Not Oyaji. Just because your nickname is Japanese doesn't mean that you ARE Japanese. Better get your facts right before you go on correcting people again. I notice this is a hobby of you guys here. Thank you. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oyaji Added on April 28, 2009, 5:20 pmI now found a way to play laggy games with 1-bar opponents in championship mode. Pick Honda and score a knockdown with sweep or oicho throw or sumo splash (the hard part). Then crossup lk Sumo splash them all day and night. They can't do crap even if they block due to lag. Do it late sometimes so that the diving up part hit them first in the front instead of hitting them with the crossup sitting part. Serves them right for simply entering my lobby. QUOTE(MasterAlvin @ Apr 29 2009, 01:33 AM) guys... is this even worth arguing about? Does anyone here even use him? there aren't english spelling for jap words, and the sound can vary due to the slang in their language. Oyaji or Oyachi that's Dan's business. and you are suppose to have fun with Dan. let's go back to SF4. fight it out to decide who's the better Dan! I can never use him effectively! No links, no zoning game, no good mixups...Any tips from any Dan pros out there? My only tip is: use the jump taunt to escape corners. Other than that I don;t know anything about him. I just jump and run around like an idiot and spam focus attacks, which has deceptively far reach, and his lk dankukyaku, which is safe on block. I'm still in G3-B rank though. Are there a lot of people here in G2? If there is, I have a lot of work cut out for me tonight. |

QUOTE(shinjite @ Apr 29 2009, 07:51 PM) Yup nothing beats arcade experience Not only that, any tweaks and balancing changes to the existing characters and the game itself will be missed out in the arcade version. But sadly arcade only limited characters..... They should upgrade the arcade version of the game to accomodate the extra characters from consoles And why spend money and time to travel to an arcade downtown when you can play at the comfort of your own living room? Let's face it, consoles are the new arcade. |

I agree to the segregation. But don't use it to avoid the pros completely; make sure you play them once in a while. I think playing them will help you in your game very much and there's no sense in dumbing down the SF4 scene in Malaysia. So what if we get beat 0-20, 0-50, 0-100 as long as we learn from it and improve your game. If anything you can impress other casual players and motivate them to play better.
Guys like Tristan may be virtually unbeatable now, but someone would come around and beat them eventually, and I think secretly they want to meet someone that can. Could be you, could be me. But I agree, some of us want to fight just for the sake of having fun. I like fooling around with Fei Long or Dan myself. And some don't appreciate you fooling around, which is why I think this list is a good idea. But the potential problem is most pros I met are actually quite humble. So I dunno if they can accept their name being put in the "pro's list" all of a sudden |

I think enabling microphone during matches would make the experience better.
I remember Soul Calibur 4 has it enabled during matches. Then I can hear players all over the world snicker at all the ridiculous create-a-soul characters I made and all the shenenigans I did with Yoshimitsu during matches.. Fun times. |
