so lately my execution been really bad. played too much maybe?
I suck at other characters, maybe i should try play others (like seriously). Havent been to TRF for 3 weeks or so already. Wanna try going this week. Anyway, anyone here been using the plinking technique? oh and for abel, the elf matchup is pretty much a ridiculous guessing game + whoever gets the first knockdown has the advantage. I have problems against extremely aggressive elf with crazy mixups. This post has been edited by brastel: May 24 2009, 08:38 PM |

QUOTE(leongteng5 @ May 25 2009, 08:03 PM) Oh shit.. I've seen this being done a lot in 3rd Strike.. never expected you can do it in SF4 too! Does the opponent get trapped in blockstun from the MP chop like 3rd strike or can the enemy jump away? Can you do it with the super? If all Akuma players learn how to do this we might see more aggressive Akumas soon. i dont think the opp get trapped because the MP never hit anyway.edited: and yes its only cancellable into super. you cant cancel anything into ultra in sf4. QUOTE(MasterAlvin @ May 26 2009, 09:50 PM) i think tech throw happens when both players hit lp+lk almost the same time, the frames are so short that sometimes even mashing wont hit, it's like mashing buttons wont hit links most the time too. lol unfortunately based from my experience seeing supposedly pro players play, they mash tech throw(not blindly though) quite often too. tech throwing skills will develop with time if you pay attention to you matchups (diff char, diff tick throw setups) and usually when you're blocking a blockstring, pay close enough attention and you should be able to tech throw or backdash and punish.i remember being annoyed that my brother always seem to throw me though i am mashing lp+lk but since lately i have been using more throws i realised that i actually did more tech throws than before. hope that helps. tech throw = matchup knowledge + good reflex(eye to hand coordination) as for your case, your brother probably caught you during your recovery, you messed up the timing of the mashed lp+lk(lol yes mashing has timing too) and try to throw him while he's not really in range and he grab you out of that. just a theory lol. Oh and did ya mash the lp+lk while crouching? its easier to tech throw standing. on the other hand, after not playing for a few days because of school, my abel got wrecked by another abel at the arcades just now. 500yen wasted just like that edited: and yes, what tristan said, you cant tech a command throw or during recovery or an air throw(lol), and gouken's backthrow is slow as hell its too easy to tech that, makin it ridiculously useless to do backthrow into ultra in a real match. hahahha i hate gief. i need a 2nd character to handle that matchup. ridiculous.
against those who dont know the matchup well, sure its fun to command throw them out of their wake up ultra. but gief who knows the matchups, i'll get poked to death. anyway yeah, i think you're right, i need to work on my spacing against gief.. at least a blocked ex green hand is punishable. the match is sure boring as hell though. |

QUOTE(Kenishi @ May 29 2009, 09:49 AM) I am having problem to block one special move from the m.bison(dictator), the flying toward me and stand on my head. You can block headstomp(and the follow up - devils reverse) standing just fine. Dont believe me, try it yourself in training mode.No matter how I block it, standing high block or crouching low block. He still manage to Hit stand on my head. Actually, is this move blockable or we just need to encounter it. Btw, i am using guile. apparently. Maybe its the lag. QUOTE(MasterAlvin @ May 30 2009, 08:57 PM) i cant cross up, becoz of the vertical roll and electricity. i cant focus him or bait him with it coz the roll breaks focus. i cant slide kick him coz most blanka players are crouching most the time. lol this is a problem for most of the char against a turtling blanka (an aggresive, mixup crazy blanka is more of a pain though, i think, i hate them more than a turtling blanka)..the biggest problem is, i have a problem sitting at the other end of the screen to play a staring game. hahahaha like darkstalker said, just walk back and forth, and bait(lol you dont need FA to bait) the ball, block the ball and work from there since blanka's pretty vulnerable after a blocked ball. a good yomi can help too, like sometimes i just know that blanka is going to do the slide(you can predict this from a blanka that walks forward when in range) so i fa crumple that and ultra (or any punish) ftw.. maybe you can go into training mode and try punishing a blocked blanka ball or learn what move beats it. (like abel, st.mp or cr.mp beats it clean) |

QUOTE(mikeeeee @ Jun 8 2009, 10:43 AM) Anyway, i find that the cabinets were not equipped with SF4 card system I think the card system is exclusive to Japan. I can get you one(or more if you want Oh and, to those who know, whats the diff between Seimitsu/Sanwa buttons? I'm using HRAP3 with Sanwa buttons and I'm loving em so far.
