Taunt to bait opponent. Normally only during knockdowns/full screen distance.

Not that useful though, just a change of pace. And on knockdown, most of the time meaty attacks/crossups are better. Pretty good on trigger happy anti-air players though.

EDIT: The taunt command, for whoever that doesn't know it, is HP + HK.

Yeah, sure, why not?

Especially if the guy timed it wrong and I can attack before he recovers. Even if he blocks, now he's on the defensive. tongue.gif

i totally agree yr oppinion. but last night PSN not very stable, dc liao i direct no play with him liao. tongue.gif

those taunt with function, i understand lar, like 3rd strike , or to avoid fireball or something.

taunt 1 or 2 time per round per game, i can compromise, coz like master al said, is just a game.

maybe is just my perangai that cant stand ppl taunt me whenever opponent had the chance.
make me felt like , wtf.... need to be like that arogance meh......

eventhough 3rd strike which i played in GGPO, i nv taunt as well, although taunt got attribute raise.

guess i need more training to with stand this taunt move. biggrin.gif

About the taunt issue, if it makes you feel worse and more importantly PLAY worse because I taunted, I would do it too.

I'm just saying, you shouldn't get agitated over it, because for all you know the opponents wants you to get agitated and then make mistakes.

i'd be more annoyed if my opponent decides to came at the other side of the screen instead of trying to finish me off.

Hohohohohoho.

Walk forward quick low long range attack works good actually. If it hits (blocked or not) then for most characters you'd then be in range to do something again. Jump attack, crossup attack, dashing special moves, etc.

and after that...i got damn demotivated after being whacked by Tristan and danger. hahaha.

ok ok, i must admit i spam dragon punch (shouyuken? shinryuken?) too much. =_= and seems like u guys were always waiting for me to jump up, and then finished me off.

my last match with tristan (he was using el fuerte)..i nearly won. but still lost la. that match i reli tried not to press the dragon punch.

actually i normally use the analog stick. last night i used dpad. quite comfortable, but i always triggered the wrong move out of panic. =_=

against danger, when i was using viper. i wanna do the EX hammer thing, coz he was far away........but i executed ultra =_=""""

still need to train more. will try to play sf4 online every night. biggrin.gif

hi guys,

any idea how to counter this tactic? I alwiz get pawned by tic throws (i.e. opponent jump (ryus & kens) in with hard kick then go straight for throw or they use small hit then throw or just crouch hard kick). I cant seem to do anything. If i press hard kick it doesnt come out and i get thrown. If i try throw also kenot....if i use small kick....can counter the throws but then they will alternate and use crouch hard kick and i will fall....then they jump in again do crossing or do the middle punch to counter my crouch block.....

another tactic i fall for is they hit me once....then GOOOOSSSTANT (i.e keep jumping behind and wait till time ends...if i attack them they will keep jumping and hit me when i jump over....)

Haiz.....so irritating.....I am such a noob...

any help is appreciated?

First things first: learn to tech throw. You can do this by pressing throw (light punch + light kick) as they throw you. So even if you get caught by throws, you still have this option.

Now, for the situation you described, I suggest hold block while mashing light punch/kick/throw. You will block whatever attacks they throw out, and if their attacks are too slow, you'll either jab or throw them.

I do not suggest low hard kick. Most characters have a slow one, too slow for close range, throwing distance. Light attacks or your own throw work best here.

If they jump early, try walk forward (until they will just miss their attack but you're still next to them) and then throw. Alternatively, Focus Attack - Back Dash would work too.
