MathMagic Challenge 2009

Magic Gamewerks Sdn Bhd, with the support of our world distributor, EduStation Teaching Aids and Malaysian distributors Educator’s World Sdn Bhd is planning a year long program to organize at least 5 MathMagic competitions in Malaysia (up till August/September 2009).

Launch of MathMagic Challenge 2009
The World Open MathMagic Challenge will be launched at 9.30am on Saturday, 21st March 2009 at the Tropicana City Mall, Section 20 PJ.

Proposed Schedules for State level knock-out competitions are as follows :
A. May 30th. – Selangor Open MathMagic Challenge – Tropicana City Mall
B. June 6th - Perak Open MathMagic Challenge.
C. June 7th - Penang Open MathMagic Challenge
D. June 13th – Kuala Lumpur Open MathMagic Challenge
E. August 15th – International Open Math Challenge – Knock Out Round
F. August 28th - Malaysian Open MathMagic Challenge – Tropicana City Mall
G. August 29th/30th World Open MathMagic Challenge – Tropicana City Mall

The schedule is to ensure that we will have a select Group of state finalists who will be 'representing' their respective states in the Malaysian Open Finals Championship on August 28th. Schedules in bold are confirmed schedules while others are presently being finalized.

A separate competition will be organized for foreign children who will be competing against children from their own countries. Finalists will be automatically selected to represent their home countries in the World Challenge. Any other States in Malaysia wishing to participate in this program are invited to contact the Organizers to discuss their plans.

Finalists of the Malaysian Open Event will then proceed to compete against foreign school children representing their respective home countries in the first ever World Open MathMagic competition in the Tropicana City Mall on August 29th-30th 2009.

The MathMagic Challenge is open 2 age groups only, namely school children from Year 4 to Year 6 (Primary school children) and Forms 1-Forms 3 (Secondary) or their equivalent in International Schools. While the event is organized as an open event (school children can register to compete on their own), we welcome the support of schools to register their children for this event. Subject to the support of sufficient number of schools who can register their students as school representatives (minimum of 30 schools per age group, the Malaysia Open may also include a Champion School Award. However, winners and selected finalists in the Malaysian Open Event will be entered into the World Event as Malaysian representatives and not as school representatives.

To ensure that school children are prepared for these forth-coming events, EduStation Teaching Aids will be conducting workshops for teachers and parents to ensure that proper guidance is given to children. We would very much appreciate the assistance of schools and institutions who can allow us the use of their halls to conducts such workshops.
