USPS First Class Mail = normal airmail which is faster than the regular one. No tracking unless the sender made it registered (that's added service so add some $$).
USPS Express Mail = EMS = Poslaju. Always have tracking.

USPS First Class Mail international doesn't have tracking number by default. You can add insurance, but you won't get tracking number.
Use USPS Priority mail international and add Tracking service in the package. This equivalent to PosDaftar.

Hi all, just need to check something with you guys expert in here..just bought something from US a week + ago, and using the USPS Priority Mail International Parcels..so the item i believe is already arrived in here. Below are tracking details from the USPS website,

Acceptance
January 11, 2013, 4:25 pm
FRESNO, CA 93722

But then, i just got a letter mention that my item has been detained by Customs, given 3 options and bla bla bla.. Then, I checked the tracking number given by Pos Laju in the same letter, it shows as below,

21-Jan-2013 13:26:23 Consignment successfully delivered EKPRESS INVOIS PPL Batu Caves
21-Jan-2013 08:21:12 Courier is attempting delivery PPL Batu Caves
21-Jan-2013 05:27:33 Consignment arrived at processing center PPL Batu Caves
20-Jan-2013 00:05:35 Consignment dispatch out from Transit Office HUB POSLAJU PMK
19-Jan-2013 19:10:40 Consignment picked up from the sender PPL NILAI

Then, I rechecked again by calling their customer service, they confirmed that the item has reached Pejabat Pos Laju Batu Caves...Meanwhile, I checked one more time at Pos Malaysia website, this time using the USPS tracking number, it shows as below,

17-Jan-2013 16:37:20 Departure from inward OE/Send item to domestic location POS MALAYSIA INTERNATIONAL HUB (KLIA)
17-Jan-2013 14:51:44 Arrived at inward OE/Receive item at OE POS MALAYSIA INTERNATIONAL HUB (KLIA)
15-Jan-2013 16:32:00 Departure from outward OE

So, whats the thing that bother my mind is, whether my item has been detained by CUstoms or not?or its not been detained, but I have to pay the tax at the Poslaju Batu Caves office? mostly I read over here, once the item status is 'Custom Clearance Processing Complete', they will receive the item shortly without being detained..What's the real status of my item is actually?anyone has experienced anything like me?

your guys answers is much appreciated.. biggrin.gif

how to track once it arrives malaysia?
for my package, once it show "International Letter", somehow it arrives in my house without me knowing. means unable to track its route once it shipped from the US.

Track at Pos Malaysia website. Or use http://www.track-trace.com/post. For more accurate result, select 'Track with options', select country and type of service.

Anyone have rough ideas on how many days (or working days) it'll take for items to reach Malaysia Customs? The item is shipped at Jan 26 and it's been 5 working days (or 7 non working days) but still no updates. Kinda worried sad.gif

One main difference I noticed compared to most forummers here is that my tracking code seems to start with LNXXXXXXXXXUS instead of LJ...

finally i knew the difference.

the only one that i traceable until it arrives to malaysia is USPS Priority Air Mail. (here, traceable by PosLaju website)
For First Class it only put the details until it's shipped from US.. so we'll be wondering whether it actually arrived M'sia or not. (this one sent by normal mail.. considered registered parcel I believe.. marked with Custom's Item)

after reading so many threads about the lost parcel via USPS to Malaysia, I was also worried when I ordered my item from ebay.

My item was mailed on 29th Jan 2013 and the seller provided me with tracking number. But it only tracks until the item leaves US, and no more tracking after that. The last tracking available was on 31st Jan 2013. I waited for a few days and finally, my item arrived on 8th Feb 2013, just before CNY. rclxms.gif

I used USPS First Class Mail International.

I bought two items from Ebay that are shipped by First Class Mail International... both are thin books so I really hope they don't get bent till they crease... sad.gif Like some others I thought First Class Mail was supposed to be fast... geez.

Another item by Express Mail International seems to be doing fine. Hopefully nothing will happen on the final leg of its journey to my house. It's a pretty big parcel. rclxub.gif

Item #3 has a followup in PosMalaysia tracking system:

Detail result for Parcel No : EC*********US

02-Mar-2013 06:51:19 Departure from inward OE/Send item to domestic location POS MALAYSIA INTERNATIONAL HUB (KLIA)
02-Mar-2013 04:14:25 Arrived at inward OE/Receive item at OE POS MALAYSIA INTERNATIONAL HUB (KLIA)
26-Feb-2013 07:15:00 Departure from outward OE

Hoping item #3 arrives next week. It's the most expensive of the lot. unsure.gif

Just a little tidbit, I tracked across 3 different platforms: Ebay itself, Stamps.com & the USPS website. The above info is from USPS website. Happy to know that they manage their Express mail decently I suppose.

And I have actually tried three services. The following is the shipment details of an item I bought before (that has arrived in one piece, thank God):

Just received a nice Swatch watch (USD150++) from US. Used USPS First Class International only... Got it in 12 days. The seller post it on 28th Feb. Received it just now. Got lucky this time i guess. Normally if I use USPS First Class International... it normally take more than 2 week.

USPS First Class International - you can track it while it is still in US only.

I don't think Amazon uses USPS unless you mean the amazon marketplace? I've bought from Amazon company for 4 years and have only seen iParcel, UPS, FedEx and DHL.

Depending on which one they used, if it's USPS First Class mail, usually between 2 to 4 weeks. For USPS priority international about around 2 weeks depending on how fast custom works. Not much difference really unless you opt for USPS Express International which takes less than a week.

The truth is the problem isn't the international shipping part, it's the domestic shipping. I've items arriving in less than a week from US but Pos Malaysia take almost a month to deliver to my house sweat.gif

You won't know until it arrives at your doorstep or got quarantined at custom cause there's no tracking for First Class mail.

For first class you only track til ISC in USA, not Malaysia meaning it only departed US on 29 april. Usually delivery from US to malaysia is about one week plus cause USPS uses airplane space of other airlines, they don't have their own airplane like fedex. Then custom takes one to three days depending on what is your item, size of package and if its suspicious. Then pos malaysia take their sweet time to send to your house so expect it to arrive in best case scenario two weeks from delivery date.

First class mail needs a lot of patience and prayer laugh.gif
