Hi, do anyone know what is the differences? Because i plan to get laptop, but i confise with these proccesor~

Basically Centrino 2 improved the heat generation problem,better integrated graphic and it uses newer processors like the Penryn series.

before i know this i cannot differentiate centrino2 and core 2 duo... my gf till now also dunno... lol

core 2 duo is simply the naming for intel's processor while centrino is intel'S branding package(intel chipset,intel core duo proc, intel wireless)

if u see a core 2 duo logo, it simply means that your notebook has a motherboard or wireless card that is not made by intel.

Difference between CENTRINO 2 and CENTRINO..

Centrino 2 has better integrated graphics, RAM support for DDR2-667, DDR2-800, DDR3-800, DDR3-1066 and DDR3-1333 SO-DIMM, Gigabit LAN, and Intel Turbo Memory. Centrino 2 is also the main support for DisplayPort with an external connector attached to the motherboard along with full supplemental support of HDMI, DVI, and VGA standards.

According to Wikipedia, Centrino 2 support Microsoft Network Access Protection (NAP), support out-of-band management and security features in all sleep states when it is inside corporate firewall, and has transport layer security (TLS) secured in communications over an open LAN for wired laptop outside corporate firewall. This is however not supported for wireless states.

CENTRINO DUO and CORE 2 DUO..

Centrino Duo is Intel's name for the whole platform while Core 2 Duo is the name of the processor used in that platform.

Centrino Duo refers to the entire package: Intel Core 2 Duo processor, Intel motherboard chipset, IntelPRO wireless chipset, Intel integrated graphics.

Based on the above statement, it is almost about a coffee and a coffee cup. If you're asking which is better, then you're asking is coffee better or the coffee cup is better.

According to Wikipedia, Core 2 is referring to single, dual and quad processor architectures. Centrino is reffering to a type of chipset within the Duo Core family and others.

This is only what i know. Lol. Correct me if i'm wrong.

What?

Centrino 2 or sometime tagged as vPro (Centrino2 w/ added security) upgraded processor that gives almost 15% extra power n speed (10-20%) over C2D due to reasons like, larger front side bus or simply pipeline from memory to proc so data transfer faster rate.

Centrino 2 uses penryn that is 45nm size compare to 65nm C2D. imagine, sized is shrunken with performance maintained. so u can put in extra clockspeed maintainin same temp, thats why the size shrunk such big deal. the last time they achieved this was in early 90s. thats wher u got ur 15% extra output.

since the proc size smaller, temp will drop, hence Centrino2 runs cooler at more faster processing than C2D. other improvements like better graphics, wifi-n, etc r simply side dishes.

Centrino2 has different ,newer motherboard than C2D that is abit future proof for future upgradability though limited, notebook ma lol i.e. DDR3.

Centrino2 is entire package name for 45nm proc (name Penryn)+new motherboard (named Montevina but thats outside marketing) that comprised on the features above.
