Recently I purchased M8, surprisingly the sound quality is pretty for a handphone, better than many SonyEricsson phone out there.
I auditioned with my Sen IE8, wow i can hear many more details compare to my cowon D2.
M8 sound is less laidback & better mid detail quality compare to D2. I am pretty enjoying it now.
Maybe now I can only bring M8+IE8 as my portable rigs. (I used to bring my SonyEricsson Phone & Cowon D2 & IE8).
Thumbs up again to Meizu for this nice product!

M8 is pretty nice, best no need go thru Itunes hassle. Just click drag & drop function only.
The movie playback is fanstatic super smooth with vivid color.
Support most popular movie format out there, so can save the conversion work here.
1 more thing worth mentioning here, its double built speaker is loud & pretty decent SQ too.

Price wise is quite standard in china (RMB2380)- u can search it in Taobao.
I bought it in China retailer shop. Installed so many games, software till now i had no time to try it all.
U guys can get more stuff from www.meizume.com (games, themes, wallpapers & softwares)

**1 more function seem interesting worth mentiong here:
the music player has lyric playing like k-oke mode (it has 3 screen mode which can be scroll with your finger tip motion)
1 mode is the id3 tag pix screen, 1 is Equalizer screen & last 1 is the Lyric/K-oke screen (u need to add in the .lrc file together with your mp3 song)
*but it is didnt have the jukebox interface like Ipod. but the browser is user friendly enough.

How bout the OS? I heard it run on top WinMobile 6.0. So that means it can run win mobile 6 application rite?

Technically yes, should be most WinMobile software can be installed, but still need to test its compatibilties as its GUI is different from real WinMobile version.

Correction, it's Windows but not 6. Just Windows CE.

u can direct taobao, but u need to consider the tax issue (u might run away from it) & other risk. i mean getting from HK or Macao is a another good option.

Wifi: Only available at 8gb version, signal is strong & good so far (16gb i heard there lock wifi, but can unlocked using some software)
Camera: Average (if u want good camera maybe Nokia 5800 will be better IMO)
Call Quality: Good (handsfree speaker is loud & clear)
Signal: Good no issue so far.

Desktop charger & xtra batt is strongly recommended.

anyway the Meizu factory is nearby here only.

Honestly, pocket pc (Windows Mobile) has better audio range, becoz the software available make music more customisable, Meizu has great interface but not compatible with Windows Mobile apps.

btw , Iv already shifting from DAP/PMP to PDA side

Thats depends, but certain PDA comewith verygood DAC. Furthermore the output is moderate 'amplified' level, therefore I dont need mini amp or portable amp because the output is very loud and strong

first time heard of PDA perform in audio

PDA is design for office uses like communication and files editing and etc... i doubt they can perform well in entertainment since this is not their main function

IMO i got doubts PDA phone has a good sound hardware, if using those software to tweak, the sound is distorted at certain point. the real sound with best quality is from hardware like wolfson chip for example.
plus PDA fon battery will be drained so fast when u listen to music. as myself used to own an HP PDA, sound & battery life is sux, that is y now swifting to DAP (although i got Sony Ericsson hp which the SQ is good but not good enough).
Meizu M8 has good sound compare to those Sony Ericsson hp out there. Audition it to believe it.

i seriously hope those PDA freaks would stay away from this thread...what i want is an audiophile review...i have ask Baronic to compare by specs between the HTC Touch Diamond, Iphone and Meizu M8...since he own at least 2 of them...his review was more to a PDA side of view...not audio...so unless a PDA user can give me a more detailed review between the sound quality of the devices...i dont think i can trust their views on it...as they are looking more to the multiple function capabilities and OS instead of the audio quality...

Saw the M8 yesterday in PC Fair.. Seems pretty solid.. According to the guy don't buy yet.. they still enhancing some features.. It will be available locally by the middle of this year...

Meizu have their own booth? Wow. Yeah, the phone imo still not polished. Software and OS.

Hardware wise, i dont think they can simply add and remove (although they capable) cuz it will make the whole series look confusing with multiple spec.

Guys... I just bought a M8 for my friend yesterday... I m now in China... Well, it does support RMVB as well... price drop... now RMB2080... purchase it at the MEIZU Official retail shop... tested everything... the only thing which does not really impress is the camera and the internet browser only... for the browser, it use OPERA... and i wonder why seems like a bit lagy and always not loading up pages... hmmm u guys who using have such problem? Anyway... is still a good player... put in FLAC and APE... damn nice as well crsip mid tone... and i put a compare with W902 Sony Ericsson... well... guess what? is a total blow out for SE... (sorry for SE fanboy)... even u don plug in a earphone, the speaker of the phone itself impressed you... well... since is a audiophile thread, don just view it here... listen to prove it...

err you guys din't see the M8 at pc fair..? The booth is where the meizu mp3 player are displayed.. One uncle was holding it.. I think should be the boss.. Din play with it much.. OS seems to be quite laggy compared to iphone.. Interface so so.. Other than that quite good.. Got room for improvement.. The uncle said retail price is gonna be RM1999 and they gonna bring more accessories and stuff...

i bought it from china

if not mistaken, M8 is available in singapore at sgd 599 for 8g, sgd 699 for 16g
about rm15xx - 17xx

i dun mind is refurbished version as they replaced all faulty part and new casing.
and is for temporary use and wait for new version m9 or so call m8 3g.

1 week after i bought it, officially announced drop of rmb100 (rm50) T.T

i believe you cant get a smart phone at rm900 elsewhere.

the spec is absolutely better than iphone, only the OS is not stable yet but for normal use no problem.

and not much application software available, but surprisingly the user is china created quite a number
of useful software free of charge.

i dont know how many people in malaysia owned this phone, you will surprise to know that there is many user
in singapore, french, germany, europe and etc.

erm, meizu m8 rox but the cam prob really kicking ass, will become blur after few months of usage

what kind of OS it's using?

OS = win CE 6.0 as core code
but they are creating own OS base on win ce
as you can c the UI is much diff.

they have a team researching android system also.

the cam will blur is bcos of ur fingerprint on the cam, try clean the cam b4 take pic.

nope, try to check on various m8 forum, all complaining the cam became mulfunction after few months of usage, is like the cam got scratch easily, even happenned to a guy who kept his m8 in pouch everyday

can show me the forum? i didnt hv this problem on my phone, i didnt even c this complain at official forum.

another reason may b due to the OS cause the setting of capture image at low speed shutter, a small vibration may cause the image blur. i currently install Version 0.9.1.7 OS. abit improve of pic capture at faster speed.

Is because they dont know how to use the cam function.

They cam come with auto focus function, press take pic button on screen hold until the cam is focus on object (the focus will become green colour), when you see green colour then only release the button, dont move until the pic is taken completely, otherwise will blur as the cam are not focus on the object.

This also apply to most digital camera.
