how many of you Xbox 360 owners but non XB live member? Modded Xbox can't go online, the risk is that will ban your console for life. Most people still playing jacksparrow game on Xbox360, they got no choice but to stay offline, playing split screen once in a while.

As for PS3, though PSN is free but more unstable than Live, and games is more expensive and no alternative.
Since current gen consoles is about online gaming, is it really worth if I just buy Xbox 360 and play offline single player mode? I want to try on GTA4, RE5, upcoming FF13 which also fun enough to play offline

but need to pay for Gold subscription, usually they give 1 month free only that come with every new unit purchased

Who said modded 360 can't go online? I have friends who had been on XBL for more than a year already...
But yes, paying for Gold subscribtion is rather pricey.

As far as I'm concerned(and I have noticed), PSN is ACTUALLY more stable than Live. Games are expensive and original no doubt, but you don't have to worry about getting your console banned when playing online.

pls cast your poll, actually I do prefer PS3 but end up choosing Xbox for you-know-what reason, I have confidence in jasper set which is RROD proof

XBL is rather pricey i admit but wat to do..Its Microsoft le..aih..have to pay around 200 for that..

Depends on what kind of genre you like, if like RPG Tales of Vesperia, Star Ocean, Lost Odyssey, Eternal Sonata, Oblivion etc, not much can be done online.

But if you are into FPS, sports or racing genre, online can have a huge impact on your gaming experience.

The 360 has its fare share of advantage, especially the JRPGs that is surfacing on it. I don't get the 360 simply because of the controller, its absolutely not right for me.

problem is i got a few games that i wanna play, they are only available on 360
and for new games, generally the 360 version is cheaper

now i dunno to get the arcade version or the holiday bundle.
the elite one seems out of my budget

me going to singapore end of the year, so plan to get one while i;m there.

used to play online with the old xbox.

now am happy playing xbox360 offline.

not worth playing online since streamyx is the isp.

I find it quite the opposite.. I enjoy 360 more for offline. Well maybe because I prefer playing RPGs and Japanese style games. Those big titles for PS3 seems more online oriented

anyway, TS talking about offline play, i would say there are no difference with both consoles, BUT Xbox360 would be the best choice for U, since u want to play alone/offline and cant afford to play original games...

BUT,
my past experience with PS3,my thoughts about PS3's network are somehow mixed, cause honestly im not an online gamer before i bought the PS3(maybe some LAN session with my friends at the college) but so far i say there are no significant disadvantages when playing online in PS3...the only thing that ticks me off is that it is hard to play online with foreigners, but im not sure it is caused by PS3 network or shitmyx...

for me, Having a free network to play online is somehow exceptional, and it urges me to play more online sessions(since its free), this actually made the original purchase seems worth it....

because i can play the game with live interactions, it is somehow fun in certain ways that made u addictive.

For example:

Take RE5 for example, previous resident evil series i played are mostly single player, except for the outbreak series.
RE5 online play made me wanna unlock more weapons,cause honestly i wanna show off the big guns i got and what better way to show it off with other fellow gamers and friends? but in the previous series(RE1,2,3,4), even if i unlock the infinite rocket launcher, i only play the game by my self, no bragging can be done,u kill the enemy and thats it..

well i cant say much about single player focused games like Final fantasy or other RPG games, but my advice is that u get what u pay for, wanna play cheap pirated DVD games, then by all means buy the modded Xbox360, BUT only if u really ok with playing only offline games...

honestly, it'll be just another PS1 consoles but with better graphics, since u didnt fully utilize on what u pay for(the console online feature)

BUT if u somehow want to really feel the new gaming experience, try buy the PS3 for starters, since it has free online features, its a good start to get the feel for online gaming...

but if you are limited on budget, getting a modded Xbox is a good choice, but there are no guarantees for the game quality and console quality, since it is modded, it might as well be a recond one, and its harder to fully appreciate a game since u are not buying the fully package, just a portion of the original package(instruction,free downloads,demos,free gifts etc)...IMHO, u wont be a true gamer...

1st time - FFX international (original sphere grid)
2nd time - FFX international (international sphere grid)

4th time - FFX (US version) (replay after few years)

i did some research and bloomberg states that even the publisher already pressured sony to decrease their price on ps3..and even EA had announced mass effect 2 is going to be released on pc and xbox 360 only in early 2010 and there isn't any announcement on its release on ps 3..

will sony be the king of gaming in the next few years? can it retain its exclusivity on good titles like final fantasy, etc? will the trend shift to wii or xbox? i am not sure either..

i tried it on ps3, but the up scaling don seem to make any difference.

there is no doubt playstation 3 is a great gaming machine with great potential. However, i think some ppl doesn't think that those potential is worth its price..
