Hey guys,

I need some help here with the Resident evil 5 co-op screen settings. During the splitscreen there's the black areas at the side which is awfully annoying. I've seen gameplay videos on youtube which has no black areas. I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about so yeah. Care to enlighten me with how to get rid of them?

Thanks.

I think if you're using a wide screen TV the game uses the wide type splitscreen, try setting your XBox to SD mode (push the switch at the back of the connector) then see what happens.

I'm using a hdmi cable so i cant do that. I switched the display settings to 480p which is the SD mode and the black areas arent there anymore. However, the quality of picture deteriorates like hell. Its hard to even see the redline cross hair while aiming. haha. No Way possible to play at 720p,1080i or 1080p with no annoying black areas?

Cheers guys.

Oh the black areas thingy,
You'll get used to it laugh.gif

Anyway, yup, I did spot some RE5 split-screen gameplay with no black areas,
If im not mistaken, they said something about messing up with resolution settings.
But that may result in side-effect for dashboard view.

There are bars at the side, because Capcom choose to keep with the wide screen aspect ratio even when you're playing split screen.

Yeah like i said in my previous reply, you have to change your display settings to 480p then you'll have the normal split screen. Unfortunately, it still doesnt fill up the whole screen. there's still 2 black areas at the sides. I guess i'm getting used to the black areas. Oh well.

Cheers.

Yeah, I agree with you on that, the split-screen makes it look even smaller so its quite annoying. If only it was like GOW.
Nevertheless, I'm getting used to it already so whatever. : )

Yupe .. no solution .. it's been design that way.

QUOTE
Takeuchi explained the reason for that. “It was technically more difficult to make it like it is now than to split the screen in half," he said through a translator. Other options were inferior. Eliminating the black space would have made the players’ view of the action to wide. And it introduced another problem. Without pushing one view to the left and one to the right, the lead characters stood in one column: “Having them on top of each other made it a little difficult to play," Takeuchi said. “We felt that having the characters on different sides of the screen was the best way to play."
