Do I understand correctly?: Is it possible to order a separate RM99 unlimited 3G dataplan at Maxis?
I was thinking of getting the 12 months plan, cheapest available but that one has crappy datalimits. |

i think the rates is more expensive compare to the standard value plan. it's also cheaper for sms & call between maxis to maxis on standard value plan compare to the iphone plan. but more importantly you dont get to enjoy the 20 hours free call & sms for call between main & supplementary lines anymore. on top of that you cannot share airtime between supplementary line anymore.
In US people queue for iphone, in malaysia maxis has to do roadshow & heavy advertisement to sell. i think you all know why |

but please bare in mind that, the iValue plan is not including SMS! which means even thru you are not making any calls on that month but SMS 10 sms out, you still need to pay 100 + 1.00 (for sms) for that month, confirmed by Maxis Staff...

that's why Maxis enable iValue plan users to addon a SMS plan for 8 bucks per month where you can send out 500 SMSes to Maxis numbers.

If I'm gonna bind myself to a contract, my requirement is:
1) The phone I'm gonna get is cheap. Why else would I get a contract? 2) The minimum monthly payment includes everything I'm gonna use, which is calls, SMS, MMS and data. 3) The minimum monthly must be equal to what I'm currently paying monthly. So, IMO 1) The iPhone can be cheap, but it'll contradict with no. 3. 2) Plans only include calls and data. I don't like the idea of paying more than my monthly commitment. 3) Refer to #1. I'm averaging between RM50-70 per month now with Digi. RM100 is reasonable considering the data offered, but again, it contradicts #1. My opinion-lah. I'd love to have an iPhone, but I can be patient and wait to see if Maxis may change its plans. I already have an iPod touch and a decent 3g phone, so I won't really miss much without an iPhone |

According to sources, Maxis did achieve selling more than 10,000 iphone during launch month. Let's see if they can maintain it for the next few months.

Pure speculation on my part. I think staff members have taken a big portion of the inventory and besides serious users buying, there are others signing up to sell for a profit. However, I do not think they can sustain. |

I think staff members have taken a big portion of the inventory and besides serious users buying, there are others signing up to sell for a profit. you are definitely right. with the mounting speculation of the upcoming, new iPhone, i fail to see how maxis will be able to sell within their proposed target. However, I do not think they can sustain. maxis has always viewed that success of securing the iPhone contract is crucial as a way to win back its market share (even worse with the implementation of MNP recently). however i'm rather sceptical whether it will work towards maxis advantage or vice versa. without a doubt, there will be a lot of pissed off consumers if they do find out the truth this June. |
