Interesting article but bear in mind mel lee is a proton @ss kisser esp during the TM era. But he is more like a driver's journalist as he puts priority to driving feel unlike most motoring journalist. I would like to read Justin ong's opinion as he is less bias compared mel. I will wait for Chips Yap or Paul Tan comments as well on the weekends. But looks to me Proton may have come out with a decent MPV. At least way better than the crappy innova and avanza.

QUOTE(clawhammer @ Mar 17 2009, 12:59 PM) As I've mentioned earlier, Malaysians enjoy giving EXCUSES instead of getting things done. The same applies to Proton and government so if everyone thinks doing things this way works (after 51 years of Independence) then go on like that for another 50 years but we'll end up NO WHERE. Every time we fail on something we are blaming and pushing things elsewhere. What's the point? Seriously, Proton should get a life and start making better engine and cars. What's with all these stupid Proton Chancellor or Juara models (for example). They should understand what type of cars people wants, not design something they feel they enjoy doing. What's next? A lorry running a 1.6 Campro CPS engine? Back to the MPV, we're talking about a 7 seater using the same engine as a Waja or Satria uses so I seriously can't imagine how it feels driving uphill with full load. Worse still is the price of the MPV which is a daylight robbery to all Malaysians. They making an MPV cause they understand that what malaysian wants. They build a sedan saga cause they know what malaysians want for a sedan less than 40k. The persona is developed cause they know malaysia wants an affordable C segment sedan. Spot on Dont like it? Work harder buy a better japanese/korean marque. There always choices.

Proton needs to undergone weight shaving program but its not cheap as well. Their defence for having heavier body is for safety as better steal is used. Perhaps some expertise from Lotus will help since weight shaving is one of Lotus strongest expertise apart of suspension tuning. Do note that many modern cars esp europeans has got fat due to new and better safety regulations and better engines. An european supermini that weights less than 900kg 10 years ago now easily weights 1.1-1.2 tonnes

For such car, i rather put priority to safety and ride comfort rather than top speed and power. Its a family MPV for sake.

From the engine bay it can tell there alot of potential for the exora as it can easily fits bigger engines such as the 1.8-2.0cc petrol or room for turbocharging. Interior space is spacious and comfortable, just in the 3rd role still feel abit tight but that normal for most MPVs.
My only gripe here is the interior quality where massive and undesire plastics still in use esp on the steering wheel. The leather seats on the Hi line doesnt look desirable as well.
But for such price, it is indeed value for money esp for the M-Line. That my first impression but not sure how it goes on the roads.

QUOTE(sphiroth @ Apr 24 2009, 12:27 PM) I remember something I heard from a car salesmen when I still a child (20 years ago) about common question when people buy a car. Malay: how's the FC? Chinese: can go up Genting or not? Indian: how many people can fit inside? Guess it still the same today. p/s: sorry if someone feel offended if this is deemed racist. I think this question will fit everyone's mind regardless of race Power window ok tidak?

QUOTE(ericmaxman @ Apr 24 2009, 11:08 PM) erm. proton's CEO mentioned in the launch that they have "fixed" that issue. I heard that. Let's hope its now history rather than a reality again.
