the transmission is the same but the ratio is different to suite the nature of an MPV.
do you think proton pays for the review? since they all give good reviews then it means that theyre being paid? woww.. are you serious dude?  doh.gif
i think u just cant help it since proton is in the right direction with their first try in MPV segment.

about the underpower issue, they carried 7 adults during the test drive, how often will you carry 7 adults onboard?
*
When Avanza 1.3 comes out, they say use smaller engine can save fuel. When Exora 1.6 comes out, they say underpower. whistling.gif

For RM70K+ and we're not getting security features smile.gif Maybe Proton can do better.
*
Agree. Proton need to be more proactive. Introducing the BCM is a good start.

p/s: maybe if Exore got ISOFIX Proton will all gomen to banned other MPV without this function. laugh.gif

Honest answer... laugh.gif In the US, driving a car wth a child without proper safety seat is consider a serious offence compared to adult without seatbelts. nod.gif

Come on Proton, come out with a light pressure turbo for the MPV and make BOT for all Campro. I'm sure many will be happy (including me ofcoz brows.gif)

when proton makes a MPV with 1.6 engine, ppl scream like hell

but when toyota makes avanza with 1.6 and even 1.3 engine, nobody said anything...

Dont you know that by putting the T badge it add another 30% power and use less 50% fuel. whistling.gif laugh.gif

i just learn something new today. T or H badge will add another 30% power and use less 50% fuel
*
QUOTE(Dovienya @ Mar 18 2009, 12:18 PM)
Wrong!!

Just by removing the P-badge will add 30% power, use 50% less fuel and improve factory QC by 100%.  tongue.gif

That is brand power. Since Proton has bad reputation for scamming malaysian for so long, it will take time before the brand will be aceepted.

Did you also take into account the weight of the Avanza compared to Exora? What's the power/weight ratio like, etc? smile.gif Are you saying the kerb weight of the car is never a concern?
*
I think power to weight ratio is also a part of the whole performance. Need to look at the torque curve. No point having a high power but thin powerband.

Anyway, you can look at the table here http://paultan.org/archives/2009/03/16/pro...ive/#more-13404 for comparison between several mpv.

wonder why waja's weight is about the same with civic weight...but crash test civic scores better.....i guess its the design do count on crash test as well....
*
Waja don't have proper impact zone. Strong chasis is good but not necessarily enough.

Proton needs to undergone weight shaving program but its not cheap as well. Their defence for having heavier body is for safety as better steal is used. Perhaps some expertise from Lotus will help since weight shaving is one of Lotus strongest expertise apart of suspension tuning.

Do note that many modern cars esp europeans has got fat due to new and better safety regulations and better engines. An european supermini that weights less than 900kg 10 years ago now easily weights 1.1-1.2 tonnes wink.gif
*
Maybe Proton is looking for european market, thus they have to comply with these rules and also the emission rules.

which proton campro?
waja campro? gen2? satria neo? saga? persona?
*
My Waja got that indicator, but not functioning of course. I think Proton put it the the developement stage to make it easier to implement those features if the need arise.

I think the gomen just use 'protecting national pride' as an excuse and they don't really care much about Proton. Just they can get easy tax (income) from improt vehicles and give AP to the cronies... whistling.gif

Then if in that case, please stop trying to say that the car is underpowered.
*
Agreed. IMHO, underpower itself is kinda subjective. Someone who use to drive a more powerful car will always say the Exora is underpower, while anyone who don't, maybe saud its powerful.

Weight:  lbs

interesting program, but just wondering, how did you derive these items from the 3 cars?

I think the real life Speed vs time graph  will be very different from the graph above.. too much assumptions being plugged in to the calculator not to mention engine torque graphs for the 3 cars are probably measured on 3 different dynometers and under 3 different conditions..

also there are 2 shift points shown on the graph.. which a lazy shifting auto box may cause 1+seconds difference of shifting lag between the cars.. (here can see all assumed to shift with the same lag times which we know different autoboxes have different shift lags)
*
True, but its definitely better than just guessing. nod.gif

managed to test drive today at mutiara damansara , with 6 adult inside, i personally felt exora is a little struggle when moving from zero as well as  going uphill , other than that...  wow!!! everything is just damn nice..

booked one anyway, hope can get the car in 2 months max.  yipppeeee...

all i can say.. it's surely not the best, but it aint bad either ...  good and cheap = I LIKE ...
*
From my personal experience with the CPS engine, an intake upgrade and light weight crank pulleys do wonders. Not recommend upgrading the exhaust though because the sound will be quite loud, although the pick up is better.

And one more thing, don't be shy to rev the engine till rediline. brows.gif

toyota wish and murano doesn't have it (the shift button on the knob) because you have to step on the brake pedal before you can shift it from P to D.. duh!
*
Stepping on the brake while shifting from P->D (if not mistaken should be P->R->D) is for safety precaution as some car might move when in gears although the throttle hasn't been pressed. But, what if the Exora can keep still without moving even on uneven road, so the engineers remove that safety features.. hmm.gif

Yah, now I oni remember back...  blush.gif

Must be Proton's cost cutting measure again... but then, many journalists said this MPV is pretty well insulated.
*
IMHO, that hood insulation just suppressed the noise to the people outside the car. For people inside the car, it should be insulated at the firewall. hmm.gif

I remember something I heard from a car salesmen when I still a child (20 years ago) about common question when people buy a car.

Malay: how's the FC?
Chinese: can go up Genting or not?
Indian: how many people can fit inside?

Guess it still the same today.

p/s: sorry if someone feel offended if this is deemed racist.

that day i go SC....my place cannot test drive yet
but that day..it's the SA itself testing the car...i think they want to understand before sell
5 SA in the car...when the get inside the car...the door closing sound is nice..mean have soundproof....
when they start the car......quiet as well...at least more quiet than my saga...also indicate have soundproof
when they start driving...yeah, the pickup abit suck but much better than my saga already...not so slow
as i go knock it before they drive...quite solid...quite stable.
but the car is smaller than i thought it is...smaller than i looked at the pictures
didn't have a chance on getting in the car...so cannot comment on the interior, comfort and the handling
but the SA just drive the car like crazy....press hard2 and fast thn suddenly stopped the car
*
That is the 'proper' way to do a test drive. brows.gif
