QUOTE(selinix @ Mar 18 2009, 01:27 AM) The reason why they don't do background processing is because it drains battery life... why don't they just improve the battery then .. haha agreed with this statement. might the nex-gen iPhone has bigger capacity battery?and finally, turn by turn navigation is here. |

QUOTE(pelvin @ Mar 18 2009, 03:02 AM) QUOTE(PeeEl @ Mar 18 2009, 03:03 AM) What about data/file transfer ala iBluetooth function/feature? Didn't see it or I missed it among all the technical jargon which I am not familiar with? QUOTE(c_calvin @ Mar 18 2009, 03:04 AM) since Swirly MMS can be used on 1st gen iPhone, I wonder what is the "hardware limitation" on the 1st gen iPhone that make it unable to use the MMS app by apple @pelvinyes, bro. iPod Touch would need to pay $9.95 for it while iPhone 2G users won't be able to utilise Stereo Bluetooth & MMS, even they're on 3.0. @PeeEl there's only peer to peer connectivity via bluetooth. IINM, no files transfer (except vCard). correct me if i'm wrong. quoted from http://live.gizmodo.com/ "The new multiplayer connectivity allows you to bring up a dialog that lets you find local devices. The services provided are Automatic Discovery over Bluetooth (no Wi-Fi), no pairing, Bonjour, and isn’t just for games." "But this isn’t just for games, it works for ANY P2P application. For example, apps that can send business cards to another phone, in a handshake-like manner." Q: Could you qualify a bit more about the peer to peer. It looks like it’s available across the two iPhones, but it seems like you can do peer to peer with other Bluetooth devices. A: It’s really a device to device Bluetooth connection. It’s 1 to 1, using Bluetooth and Bonjour to discover other devices and make an IP connection. Q: So you can control devices…? A: Yes, now you can, with third-party applications, control and talk to accessories over Bluetooth. @c_calvin: quoted from http://live.gizmodo.com/ Q: Is there a physical hardware problem on the first-gen iPhone that prevents it from doing MMS. A: It’s a different radio, so it is a physical issue. **another source for reading: http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/17/live-from-apples-iphone-os-3-0-preview-event/ This post has been edited by teikwing: Mar 18 2009, 03:18 AM |

According to the DevTeam, they will still able to create a custom IPSW with 3.0 firmware and the old baseband using PwnageTool. i'm counting on that. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

QUOTE(timothyy @ Mar 18 2009, 04:27 PM) I donno whether this has been discussed... I tried to read all even in gizmodo and engadget but I can't find anything talking about new design/model of iphone. yesterday preview is only for the 3.0 OS. nothing about the design/looks of the nex-gen iPhone. So, will there be any new iphone physically in June launch? |

iPhone "Video" to be launched on Monday June 8th at WWDC?
QUOTE Apple will announce the iPhone Video at WWDC 2009 this coming Monday. That won’t be a surprise though, as many are expecting it, Walt Mossberg said it, and Apple needs to counteract the Palm Pre launch. What you don’t know, though, is that Apple will likely make the iPhone Video available the same day. Yes, you will be able to pick up the next version of the iPhone on Monday, if you get to an Apple Store before they sell out. What will we see in the new iPhone Video? For starters, it will be available in 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB models. A 4GB model is in the works as well, but it won’t be available on Monday, and when it is released, it won’t be sold in Apple Stores. All the things you’ve been seeing about an auto-focus camera, compass, etc. are all true. A camera on front along with a camera on back, that is the real deal - although it may just be for you to take video of yourself, and not for iChat video communication (although that would freaking rock.) A faster processor is also a lock (although I have heard nothing on additional RAM, it would make sense.) So, why do I believe the new iPhone Video will be released on Monday? Well, iPhone betas were coming out hot and heavy every couple of weeks, and stopped after beta 5. I am totally convinced that iPhone 3.0 is done, and ready to be made available at WWDC. We also have the Palm Pre launching two days before…what better way for Apple to throw up a big middle finger to the former iPhone peeps that went to work on the Pre than to kill their momentum with the iPhone Video launching two days after? Talking to a few sources, it seems that the stars are in alignment for iPhone Video to launch this Monday. My understanding is that availability will be limited, because the plan was to launch in July. This means that Apple doesn’t have all the phones available now that they would have had in July for a launch - but you can expect regular replenishments of product. There are also rumors that Steve Jobs will make his return with a surprise appearance at WWDC. What better way to come back with a bang? Now, this obviously isn’t confirmed, but how convinced am I that this is true? For the first time, I will be following the WWDC keynote from my local Apple Store, and you may want to do the same. If you’re near the Lynnwood, WA Apple Store, come say hello. This post has been edited by teikwing: Jun 6 2009, 12:57 PM |
