Nope, its a hardware function.
Voice function has been out for donkey years and I don't think even 2 in 10 people uses it. It's not really a big deal after all.
Remember the part it says 'Play more songs by the Killers? when they are introducing Voice Control? I don't think it works with our 'normal' mp3's. I think it only would work with songs you buy from iTunes because the 'normal' mps' do not have any data about the name of the song in voice and I don't think the hardware is trained to read words. We would need someone to confirm this feature.
I think getting a matt casing would be a cheaper option.
i think the voice control is powered by the same engine as the ipod shuffle. the shuffle reads all your mp3's no matter if you buy from itunes store or not. it's all based on the name of the song within itunes. so if my guess is right, the iphone will store the info for the names just like how the shuffle does it within the phone and when voice control is activated, it will search through for the closest match from what you said to the prerecorded info that itunes has generated.Voice function has been out for donkey years and I don't think even 2 in 10 people uses it.
