One good feature: new iPhone 3GS has oleophobic coating on the display which means it's anti fingerprint magnet.

QUOTE(Mike3300 @ Jun 9 2009, 04:14 AM) One good feature: new iPhone 3GS has oleophobic coating on the display which means it's anti fingerprint magnet. It's something we do not need as 9 out of 10 of the iPhone users has a screen protector on. The display is anti fingerprint but the screen protector is. |

QUOTE(Siilver @ Jun 9 2009, 03:42 AM) Nope, its a hardware function. i think the voice control is powered by the same engine as the ipod shuffle. the shuffle reads all your mp3's no matter if you buy from itunes store or not. it's all based on the name of the song within itunes. so if my guess is right, the iphone will store the info for the names just like how the shuffle does it within the phone and when voice control is activated, it will search through for the closest match from what you said to the prerecorded info that itunes has generated.Voice function has been out for donkey years and I don't think even 2 in 10 people uses it. It's not really a big deal after all. Remember the part it says 'Play more songs by the Killers? when they are introducing Voice Control? I don't think it works with our 'normal' mp3's. I think it only would work with songs you buy from iTunes because the 'normal' mps' do not have any data about the name of the song in voice and I don't think the hardware is trained to read words. We would need someone to confirm this feature. I think getting a matt casing would be a cheaper option. |

how come they dun give voice commands for existing iphones... i'm pretty sure with the mic we can input some voice commands in the new firmwares rite? purposely keeping this for the new iphone or because of the processing power needed?

Anyway i feel pity for the existing maxis iphone 3G owners...
Due to maxis late launch, 3G owners should feel the pinch when the price goes down for their phone. |

QUOTE(mONSTers @ Jun 9 2009, 08:14 AM) the only thing i'll miss on the new iphone 3GS will be the digital compass....the rest doesn't really matter. Yeah, most of the features will be trickled down to the iPhone 3G via iPhone OS v3.0 except a few things which isn't really important for me. The Text-To-Speech (TTS) capability is cool though and I hope we can get it via iPhone OS v3.0 (probably wishful thinking). We don't get video capturing unless we jail break but still the quality is dodgy (its a hardware thing). I'm very interested to know what is the processor speed and RAM. Boy its must have been doubled or something.QUOTE(Mike3300 @ Jun 9 2009, 04:14 AM) One good feature: new iPhone 3GS has oleophobic coating on the display which means it's anti fingerprint magnet. Yeah oleophobic coating. Finally something glossy and without the downsides. I wonder this coating will aid/prevent those 'shield stickers' hehehe QUOTE(evilhomura89 @ Jun 9 2009, 08:19 AM) Lets get things a little straighter... A-GPS is assisted GPS which is an infrastructure involving the not-really-conventional GPS, software and connection. What AGPS does is that it allows your OS to download GPS predictive data and satellite locations data over your area and then letting your GPS get satellite fix faster instead of letting it keep calculating and sensing which takes time. With these data downloaded off the net, it can at times halve the time needed to get a fix cause these data does not need to be calculated since it has been done already. So they're both the same in that it uses the same GPS. The 'A' thing in front is just software thing. Typical GPS chip installed on phones are less sensitive due to smaller antenna (which in turn due to form factor and real estate space) and power considerations. So they take very long to get a fix (especially first time on a location different from where it was disconnected). The 'A' thing was introduce to 'assist' the GPS on these phones/pdas. It cannot be compared to standalone navigation devices which only operates navigation so they have apple power supply to use and they have more sensitive GPS chips and a larger antenna. So sensitive you can get a lock inside a building with a window nearby. ----------------- Hahaha, looking at the new iPhone 3GS boy... people must be pissed as they have envisioned things like slide-out keyboard, etc. None of those materialize. What we have is some hardware revision. This post has been edited by davidmak: Jun 9 2009, 09:25 AM |

Due to maxis late launch, 3G owners should feel the pinch when the price goes down for their phone. and its great to see Maxis' logo during the keynote hehe. however maxis < celcom in terms of 3G speed tho~ Added on June 9, 2009, 9:38 amoh ya, pretty disappointed that the rumoured matte finish didnt came true. i really liked it This post has been edited by dvlzplayground: Jun 9 2009, 09:38 AM |

QUOTE(dvlzplayground @ Jun 9 2009, 09:36 AM) should be available in iphone OS 3.0. i dun think voice commands need a lot of processing power I thought tethering and MMS is subjected to approval from the service provider? Knowing Maxis and its tactics, will it not charge for tethering (legally)? Probably it will come out with another plan just for tethering. Lets hope (of course) that it will be free. Anyway MMS support is pretty much a given as it has been advertising this on its site via the iPhone OS v3.0 banner.hahaha really true. btw its cool that we're gonna have tethering and MMS BEFORE the US does haha! when was the last time we're ahead of them? and its great to see Maxis' logo during the keynote hehe. however maxis < celcom in terms of 3G speed tho~ Added on June 9, 2009, 9:38 amoh ya, pretty disappointed that the rumoured matte finish didnt came true. i really liked it |
