Makes sense for me to upgrade to the 3GS coming from a 2nd Gen.

i think still have video capture for iphone 3G, because the OS3 still the same, they also did not saying iphone 3G will not have video recording, so i think 3G still have it.

i will wait for iphone 3G SDS (super-duper speed) in 2010..good nite everyone

Great news. New Apple Iphone 3G[S]. More speed, longer battery life, better camera and available in Malaysia July 09. Old Iphone 3G will have the price reduction to 99USD (8 gig model). I dont know how much it will cost over here, but finger crossed, probably we can get 8g Iphone 3G around 1.5k or maybe less.

yes the 2nd Gen will probably have video recording, but it will most likely be nowhere close to the 30FPS VGA that the 3GS is capable of. simply because of hardware limitations in the 2nd Gen which makes me quite sad now when I record videos via 3rd party software now.

For everyone's digestion. I was skeptical and did not believe until after the just concluded WWDC. But of course, it's entirely up to you.

I went for a COD for a set of Bodyguardz on Sunday and the lovely lady(reseller) told me that the physical phone will not change. She knows because all merchants of 'official' casings were told to deplete their stock by next year as it would be then that Apple will announce a 'new' iPhone. It looks like what the lady told me cannot be scoffed at given what came out of this WWDC.

To be honest, I don't think I would even bother changing mine to the 3Gs.

Other than the 32gb storage and the battery life, others are just minor updates. Whats the point of a 3mp camera with autofocus without flash?

Looks the same, feel the same. I'm actually disappointed with the new iPhone 3Gs.

Nope, its a hardware function.
Voice function has been out for donkey years and I don't think even 2 in 10 people uses it. It's not really a big deal after all.

Remember the part it says 'Play more songs by the Killers? when they are introducing Voice Control? I don't think it works with our 'normal' mp3's. I think it only would work with songs you buy from iTunes because the 'normal' mps' do not have any data about the name of the song in voice and I don't think the hardware is trained to read words. We would need someone to confirm this feature.

I think getting a matt casing would be a cheaper option.

You know I don't only meant that. Front camera, OLED, etc...

Yea. Oh well, I won't be changing mine unless theres a really good offer. Other than that, nah. Next year perhaps.

3.0 firmware would do fine for now.

I was also hyped up with the matte black rumour!

What a disappointment.

With the new AF camera, I still feel it's still not practical without a dedicated camera shutter button that you can depress halfway to AF. Else, tapping the screen and let it do its thing feel pretty pointless on a AF camera.

Camera functionality is actually non essential for me. I do agree with the shutter button.
