An analyst is naysaying popular speculation that Apple will announce a new iPhone at its World Wide Developer Conference next month.

Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster on Wednesday issued a statement saying he does not expect an iPhone to be announced at the WWDC keynote scheduled for June 8. Rather, he expects Apple will devote a separate event for launching a family of new iPhones.

“We do not anticipate the launch in early June,” Munster said. “We continue to expect multiple models, possibly a high-end iPhone with improved specs from the current version and a low-end version with lower capacity and fewer features along with a reduced pricing plan. Such a model could also be used in Apple’s launch of the iPhone into China as soon as the end of summer ‘09.”

If Munster is correct, all that means is we’ll have to wait only two weeks longer to hear about Apple’s next iPhone. Munster’s speculation is based on what Apple stated in a press release, which says the event will focus on Mac OS X Snow Leopard and the iPhone 3.0 operating system, with no mention of a new handset. However, it’s worth noting Apple launched the iPhone 3G at WWDC 2008, and the press release for that event also did not hint at a hardware announcement.

No new iPhone announcement and Steve Jobs during WWDC possible? We can expect a new iPhone but slightly later. A seperate event perhaps? Either Apple is changing their marketing strategy or they're waiting for Steve to announce the new iPhone himself. haha..

Calm down. There will be a new iPhone. It's just that the announcement date MIGHT not be during WWDC as expected by many.

A surprise it isn’t, but it’s nice to know that at the very least the iPhone is about to get a storage boost, doubling its internal flash memory to 32GB. Up until the euthanization of the 160GB iPod Classic, Apple could always be relied upon to increase drive size in iPods.

The rumors/leaks come from two independent sources, and both are the results of either incompetent slip-ups or a genius-level marketing strategy. First, T-Mobile Austria posted a placeholder on its site listing a “iPhone 32GB” starting at €0 (that’s $0, for the mathematically challenged), and the blog Area Mobile was sharp enough to grab a screen shot.

Next up, Rogers. The much “loved” Canadian carrier has posted a list of upcoming handsets according to the Boy “Genius” Report. Here’s the relevant line: “# iPhone — ETA: unknown (July/August), outright: not allowed, 3-year: TBD.” That’s right folk: three years. This doesn’t point to a 32GB model, but it at least offers some confirmation of an early Summer launch.

Finally, Vodafone Australia has issued an end-of-life notice for the 32GB iPhone. This could, of course, just means that the 16GB iPhone 3G is about to be replaced by a newer 16GB iPhone, but we agree with MacTalk.au that it looks like there will be a bigger model along soon.

And you know what else this means? The iPod Touch has always had double the capacity of the largest iPhone, which probably means a ridiculously large 64GB model is on the way.

frankly speaking, if i'm allowed to make a prediction here.

the problem doesn't lie with whether maxis is bringing in a new generation iPhone or not.

it is whether current existing subscribing maxis customers will create a massive havoc for this apparent "scam" that they have been duped into.

Looking at Apple's history of pricing their merchandises, the 32GB model would probably take the pricetag of the current 16GB model. And if the rumor of 16GB being EOL-ed is true, then there would probably be a 32GB and a 8GB model , tiering it between a high end, and an entry-level model. That way, they can avoid convoluting their business model by continuing selling 2 separate models (as per what they did earlier, 4GB vs 8GB during first year, 8GB vs 16GB with the 3G era) and offer prospective customers who are on the fence to get the 8GB model instead. The 32GB can be the be-all-end-all model.

maxis really need to change their plan. if not, ppl will buy singtel set much2 more cheaper. im not sure bout new iphone 3g since i dun hv many for it. but cant wait for iPhone OS 3.0~

wanna mms,cut n paste summore. current firmware just mk this iPhone, like a small lappy with limited function.aih

thinking bout buying an iphone..so taught it would be good to come here to read some review on this phone but got so many posts and im kinda lazy so im just gonna ask here.. lol.

Is the os 3.0 out?
i heard the iphone doesnt have bluetooth is that true?
And can any1 tell me what are the main difference btwn the 2.0 n 3.0..is it really big difference coz if it is then i wuold just wait for it..

sorry..but 1 question..this means the os 3.0 is only a software upgrade and that i can actually just buy an iphone 3G then upgrade it to 3.0 right..
