I'm going to repaint my car and still deciding what color should I go. Is it white color a wise choice? Because my friend told me that car in white color will be very difficult to take care of it and very easy to get dirty.

My elder sister own a Wira white colour, it's a headache to take care the outlook of the car according to her, easier to get dirt, but if you wash/polish your car frequently, the car looks nice and high class! I'm planning to get a white colour car too. drool.gif

white cars need hardworking owner to wash it often ~2 days everytime else the dirt and stuff will bond to the paint and make it turn yellow over time.

Basically if you want white, you have to be prepared to wash it regularly by your self or send it to a car wash. Rainy season, dirt will stick to you car like leeches. Its a nice colour to have, but maintenance is not easy. Also, after a certain amount of years, depending on how well you take care of the paint, it tends to turn yellow-ish.

Dear TS, white is nice and safe. At night, you're more visible to others and during daytime, you get cool faster (dark color absorbs heat usually). If ppl said become yellowish later and you're afraid, why not take pearl white like myvi pearl white. My 2 cents!

White colored car owner here.
Need to wash frequently.
However, black or dark colored car easy to see the scratches.
If you are car lover and have time, can go for white.

Agreed with the bold words, wonder why will look more bigger then the other color. tongue.gif

Most of the people here said white car are more visible during raining and night time. Hmm, how about silver then?

yeah. black colour tends to 'smallen' things. it has something to do with optical illusions. easy example is u wear black shirt. that way the colour makes u a bit thinner than u actually are.

going back to this white colour. wise? it depends on what sort of car to be painted white.

for example a kancil with white paint = nothing good +it just some car. a mazda 6 with white = gorgeous. a yellow on new honda city = yucks. brown on a bus = abnoxious. blue on a scooby = perfect n made in heaven stuff because its just the colour it suits best. pink on ANY CAR = u are a GAY. lol.

maintenance wise, whites and blacks need extra care compare to lets say a silver. or a light blue.

I drive a white Triton.

Yup it takes a bit more to take care of it (especially now with the rainy season) but since I have a basikal boy (well actually he pushes a trolley in my apartment building) and washes it 3x a week, it looks quite ok. in my case, a truck that's TOO shiny will look sissi-fied, LOL

Wherever I go, I see basikal boy or mamak car wash at petrol stations, the first thing that comes to my mind is:-

"OMG car scratching! Swirl marks! Marring!"

Just feel that cars such as Triton deserve better. Just my humble opinion.

Whether its a good choice or not, also depends on where you work. I'm working in center of KL, so you can imagine how the air quality's like. So say, on sunday, I washed my white little car and its sparkling clean. Then comes monday, I drive to work, and it rains around noon-evening (my car is parked in open air). The next day i drive to my client's office, my client actually asked me how many months i havent washed my car laugh.gif So yeah, like what the others say, it takes more effort to maintain a white colored car's appearance. If you have a "bicycle boy" washing your car everyday, then its ok la

Some more I wonder is it enough water for them to wash your car as they will only carry a "bottle" of water on their bicycle and they need to keep on refill it.

White color car's is not that hard to maintain actually. Depends how often you drive your car into town and how often you wash it.
There are different between solid white and methalic white. If you wish to have a white color car, try to go for methalic white.

btw, im driving pearl white myvi se. wink.gif

firstly, if you're the type that doesnt mind washing your car once in a while that go ahead. but if you do, go for metallic white. that layer of gloss really helps in removing the dirt with ease. slid white will require more polishing

So Neo_Y, did you end up spraying your car white? My car is ivory white in color, but I dont find it very hard to maintain as others who commented here......But then again I'm a car lover and I wash my car regularly. And sometimes when I was lazy, I just took 1/4 bucket of water, a piece of cloth and wipe the entire car....and "voala" look nice and shinny again. And about the black makes your car look smaller, that's true to my experience. Whenever I look at the same car as mind in black color they appeared smaller to me. Of course I think to myself it's impossible....Only now I realized it's true.....due to optical illustion....how come I never learned this in school de ? sad.gif lol

about the white colour looks bigger than black colour car is because of the shadows. similar to our clothing, black colour makes you looks thinner while white makes you look fatter because the tiny tiny shadows are visible via white shirt.

Hmm, nope. I end up sprayed the original color which is some kind like gold or light brown color for resale purpose. Some people are not recommend to change the color since it is accident free, better keep the original color.

I thought about it real hard. Silver is too common. Black absorbs too much heat in the sun, and the curves get lost in it. Red, blue, yellow, etc would work, but I figured I'd rather have a shade than a colour.

So I decided on white. It may seem very 2008, but for our kind of climate it's a very relevant choice, and cars just look smart in it. A few years ago I was looking for a used company car for the GM, and the dealer said the white ones were cheaper by a bit because they were less in demand, and that people didn't like the colour. Cultural preference, I guess. Nowadays white is everywhere, and a friend just picked up her new Myvi with grey rims, which seems to be a trend that the new super sexy Lambo Gallardo Sypder in white/black rims in all the car mags this and last month is happily fostering.

There was an option for anthracite rims for my white car, but it didn't occur to me to tick that box. I might go get the alloys painted now...

A research was conducted and it show that birds like to poo on light color/white silver etc cars comparing to darker color cars laugh.gif

I find it surprisingly quite true coz when i was at my hometown last few weeks ago my family cars, my bro & sis silver, me orange and my dad black all park underneath a tree infront of our house, after 2 days we find that my bro n sis car has 3~4 birdpoo marks, i have 2 and my dad only 1.. laugh.gif

That's why i chose my car to be darker orange color laugh.gif
