Phang Hang didn't die, how can? After so many episodes and so many evil deeds, his ending just covered by Pit Man's 1-liner to his grandma saying Phang Hang got caught? Unfair.
BTW, in the Dong Cheong Sai Mong event, why there is no yi nai nai and her son? |

Now exam season...luckily I avoid the ch.302 previews otherwise like last time got hooked on to Moonlight Resonance's previews (just previews oni!!).
Looks like Rosy Business not bad.. should go and catch it soon. Now is like the season for ancient dramas?? Can't wait for that major dynasty one... "Beyond the Realm of Conscience" with Moses Chan, Kevin Cheng, Tavia Yeung, Charmaine Sheh... |

The big hoohaa about Terrence taking Shun Shun to the hospital in 12 minutes, but Jessica only took 10 minutes - what was the fuss bout that? They just left that hanging with no explanation.
-- Why does Ah Wor have to go blind? It's seems like a deliberate attempt on the the scriptwriter's part to wring some cheap tears from viewers. Ah Woh shouldn't end up blind after his surgery. The guy never harmed a soul, it's just not fair. -- Will became the richest man in HK in the end, not due to his own brilliance, but by playing out Calvin. He used the same underhanded dirty methods to get the better of his rivals. Nothing to brag about. -- Terrence letting Derek die and Constance's lack of a normal reaction.... she's really a Mother Teresa wannabe. Any true friend of Derek would feel appalled and find it hard to forgive Terrence. Even the normally Yoda-ish Mr. Suen lost his temper with Terrence. But not Constance. No. she's just a bit....conflicted and hesitant about forgiving him. Poor Derek. His whole life was pretty worthless. If Constance can't even muster up the energy to get angry with Terrence for letting Derek die, he couldn't have been all that important to her. -- Why would Melissa leave her all of her wealth and shares of Po Lun to such a raw and untested young man as Will? Wouldn't it be more prudent to donate a part of her wealth to charity? Her total trust in him doesn't seem justified or realistic. -- Melissa's warning to Martin to be more cautious of Jessica...was it just sour grapes or was Melissa right about Jessica? Did Jessica let Martin die without helping him or not? Even though Jessica denied it when questioned by Ah Wor, I want more concrete proof, like a flashback of Martin's last moments becuz Jessica's reply to Ah Wor can't be taken at face-value. Ah Wor may have had unconditional faith in Jessica, but I don't. -- HK must really be small huh, for SOM to bump into Charlie at that exact moment when he's about to push Shun Shun's pram into the middle of the road. He has such a huge grudge on Charlie (for breaking his vulnerable heart...oh, poor Sungy) so why would he listen to her preaching to him about turning back on the right path all in the space of 2 minutes? Also I find it hard to believe that SOM would return to HK from the USA just to take confess his guilt to Jessica face to face. Surely a weak and frail old man like SOM would be afraid of what Jessica would do to him?? Think of the repercussions - he could be convicted of murder/manslaughter or strangled to death by a raving mad Jessica on the spot. A more realistic scenario would be Sung sending in a confession note to Jessica on his deathbed. ("Dear Jessica. I killed your son accidentally by way of McDonald's. Sorry! Didn't mean to drive you mad. If you want to take revenge, come find me in the afterlife. Yours, Sung") -- While we're talking about Old Sung, did he kidnap Martin? It was never cleared up. I suppose he did. They could have shown us. -- What's the significance of Jessica's sidekick being an ex-cop? To show that even cops can be swayed by money too? I think producers felt that GOL will be more 'high class' by adding on a white guy sidekick. But they just realized that the token TVB white guy has already played a cop in the earlier part of GOL...Hence the awkward career change. -- Straight laced daddy suddenly goes gambling and gets into debt. Yeahhh....didn't see that one coming. Another example of characters who do things to serve the plot, even if their actions are out of character. -- What's the point of showing Jessica having nightmares of Martin trying to strangle her with the pillow, and at the end we find out it was a happy memory? Do the scriptwriters get a high from using such cheap tactics to mislead us??? So clever...NOT. And Jessica's big happy smile reminiscing about Martin is a bit off... Has she forgotten that just the night before he died, Martin wanted to divorce her? Ah, the powers of selective memory! -- Terrence sleeping with Elise. Ehh, that was so forced, even if Terrence was a playboy. He treated her like a sister, so why would he want to jump into bed with her? Surely even horny guys don't find their 'sisters' attractive. Made no sense at all, even if Terrence was upset to find out that Constance wanted a divorce. That Elise must have some great seduction skills eh, and does Elise have omniscient powers too? How did she know that Constance will find them in the hotel room at exactly the same time she was shagging Terrence? Her little plan to have Constance catch them in the act wouldn't have worked unless it was perfect timing..... -- The blasted 2 year jump was simply inane, pointless and lazy writing by the scriptwriters. Doesn't move the plot forward at all, and people change suddenly for the heck of it. -- SHOW, DON'T TELL. What's the reason behind key scenes not being shown - e.g. did mommy really go to jail? I dunno, maybe it's all just a bad dream, lol. We never saw a single shot of her in prison garb, handcuffs behind the fence, weaving baskets, etc. And, we never saw Ah Wor getting beaten up by Martin's henchmen. He was almost blinded by that beating, yet they didn't bother to show these 2 scenes which are dramatic in themselves. Nah, it's too bothersome to show these scenes, let's all use our imagination here instead and create some artificial drama elsewhere! -- Martin being reduced from the most cunning and powerful businessman to a paranoid recluse in a matter of a few episodes. All that careful planning, staying under the radar and waiting for years...only to come to this? Poor guy. And what's up with that drop of blood on his hand as he was making the sandwich at home? I thought he had done something to Shun Shun, like take Shun's blood sample for a dna test, as he started to be suspicious of Jessica's relationship with Ah Wor. Jessica looked terrified when she saw the blood. But it was another random 'cheap thrill'/artificial drama scene that lead to nothing. --Constance just happens to visit Terrence's house as he was having a nap with the evidence laying out there on his table & computer. How convenient. The way he weakly allows her take the evidence away from him - don't make me laugh. Terrence didn't have to slap Constance to get the envelop back. He's much taller and stronger than her, and can easily snatch the envelop out of her hands if he wanted to. (I can almost visualize the petite Constance jumping and down flailing her arms wildly, trying to grab the envelop that Terrence is holding high above her head & out of her reach. ) -- Elise falls in love with Ah Wor and then changed her affections to Will all of a sudden. Wow, we didn't know that. Thanks for informing us, Ah Wor, coz we sure didn't see any relationship development between the 2 of them. -- Catherine getting pregnant with Calvin's child, trying to make him bankrupt to force him to return to her, and then she changes her mind and helps him? Whatever. Why even write in Catherine's pregnancy? So, the moral of the story is "use your wealth to snag a guy, it works most of the time...and even if you don't win his heart, you get to have his baby as a consolation prize." Uh, that's not the only way to have your own baby, silly. There's a reason that sperm banks exist...more direct, less hassles, zero heartache. --Constance's "happiness" ring. Boy, does she need to get that loose ring refitted or what? She keeps dropping it everywhere, every other day, and in the strangest places. That ring has seen so much drama already, it's gonna challenge Gollum's ring in Lord of the Rings as the most "mysterious and powerful" ring. --Sunny, Sunny...you poor thing. The mean scriptwriters won't even let him end up with a new gay lover (it's not bad enough that he was pining over an unrequited love for so long and making untold sacrifices for him), but they had to put him in a coma to boot. At least, Sunny got some TLC from Calvin before he went off to jail (He was so touched that he teared up, in his coma state). -- Lastly, after all the death threats and intense quarreling among the 3 sisters, they stopped cuz Mommy tells them to? Wow, their momma sure has a great influence over them. Okay I'll admit that I liked this scene as it was actually quite touching to see Lee Sze Kei earnestly trying to give them motherly advice even in her Alzheimer-befuddled state of mind. The cynical me says that the girls had gone too far down their individual paths to call a truce now, and it's rather unrealistic that their mother (bless her heart) can erase their anger, distrust and ill feelings for each other. But I do believe in the greatness of a mother's love and that deep down, the girls still care for one another. But really, what's the point for all the b*tching and backstabbing and betrayal only for the 3 sisters to shake it all off and start over at the end? For a drama to do this is quite a waste of time and seems like a cop-out to me. Why bring in realism at the very end, when the drama had been anything but realistic all throughout the 82 episodes? |
